  1. Had a chance a few months back to get some car magazine subscriptions for $7.50 so I got 4 or 5. They are all terrible. All they are is ads. It takes me about 10 minutes to go thru them and I'm done. The best magazines I have found are Rodder's Journal, Hot Rod Deluxe and Rod and Kulture. Elapsed Times is OK but it does contain some incorrect info from time to time.
  2. In the mid 1980s MPC made several generic funny cars including Prime Time, Nitro Charger, Fire Fighter, Nitro Vette, Burnout Bird and a couple others. A few of them had smoked glass for the windshield. I am trying to obtain some of these kits but I don't like the smoked glass and I'm terrible at making windshields. If you have any of those kits could you look at them and let me know which ones have the smoked glass. Thanks!
  3. Very interesting. I used to buy gas at the Sunoco station pictured. It was in Dearborn, Michigan.
  4. If you are thinking of building the NASCAR version of the AMT 65 Galaxie kit pick up the March issue of "Modified Mustangs And Fords". There is a great article on a restored Holman Moody NASCAR racer.
  5. Thanks for the info Chuck. Looking forward to getting some of those decals.
  6. Got a few models over the years at Christmas. The one I remember most was a Jo Han 1960 Plymouth.
  7. When this kit does come out it will be interesting to see how many faults with it the nitpickers on here will find.
  8. AMT 1960 Ranchero, AMT 1965 Galaxie, Revell Glidden T-bird, Monogram Slingster Dragster, Revell Mongoose Duster and MPC Kalitta Mustang. Merry Christmas to me!
  9. The picture in gtx6070's post was taken at Detroit Dragway. Jay Howell was driving. At that time it was not a wheel stander. It was intended to race A/FX cars. It was running in the mid 10s at 135 MPH.. As testing went on adjustments were made and they just couldn't keep it on the ground. Later it was turned over to Bill Golden and as they say The rest is History!
  10. The kits should be molded in gray or white. I was quite disappointed to find that the MPC Hot Rod Mustang funny car was molded in white and black.
  11. Thanks for the info. I would much rather dear with the one piece chassis.
  12. Does the current issue Revell Jungle Jim Vega have the old 2 piece chassis or the new one piece chassis like the Mongoose Duster?
  13. Really a shame that Revell never came out with that Mustang.
  14. Rembember guys back then the cars looked like real cars.
  15. Just wondering if anyone makes Gratiot Auto Supply decals.
  16. Don't you hate it when you have a 50% off coupon from Michaels and they don't have even one kit you want.
  17. Ed had two slightly different stock roof Willys bodies. Both of them are very nice.
  18. Southern Motorsports Hobbies has an interior tub. Looks like it was mastered from an old MPC Duster kit. I think I paid $12. I also have their Demon pro stock kit but that was different than the one for the Duster.
  19. Correct color for the Bob Ford T Bolt would be Champaign Gold which I think is available from Model Master.
  20. T Bolt you have your Bob Ford colors backwards. Gold and black was first in '64. It was yellow when driven by Kenny Vogt in '65. In '66 it was metallic blue and orange and raced by Expressway Gulf. As delivered the Bob Ford car was burgundy.
  21. I built quite a few of those for my son. I had some extra 1/25 decals and did some cutting and used them on the 1/32 cars. I did Ramchargers, Jungle Jim, Mongoose, Gene Snow and several others that I can't remember. I had a lot of fun doing them. In fact if they were available now I'd build some more.
