  1. I've been messing around a little with nail polishes and have had the same problem each time: After mixing the paint 1:1 with lacquer thinner and spraying it through my Iwata at around 30 psi, there is a powder-like buildup (not orange peel). It looks like little round grains of sand. It doesn't appear on panels that I'm currently painting - meaning that if I'm painting the driver's side, the buildup might happen on the roof or trunk, but not the driver's side. I'm sure it's overspray drying on the car, but I don't know how to correct it. Anyone have a similar experience or hopefully a solution?
  2. I've ordered from House of Hobbies and was very impressed. They have great prices and definitely went above and beyond for me. If I ever make it to California, they're on my list of places to go.
  3. I like this one. www.scalemodelersworld.com/online-scale-converter-tool.html

  5. That's the first thing I noticed! I imagine an old dusty Dell in a corner office. Several people stand around it, dumbfounded as the tower smokes and the speakers keep shouting, "You've got Mail!" over and over. The mixed smells of fresh styrene and ozone fill the office air. Someone holds a 57 Chevy reissue like a teddy bear.
  6. Randy, Right now we are experiencing some difficulties with our computer. You may want to re-try again by the end of the week or next week. Our IT staff is working on this problem and we will hope to have fixed by weeks end or by next week. You may also submit them by mail. Send them to: Revell Inc. Attn: Replacement Parts (Angie) 1850 Howard Street, Unit A Elk Grove Village, IL 60007 If you would like to have them returned back to you once we have looked them, let me know and we will do so. Please include a stamped self-addressed return envelope. Regards, Revell Inc. Consumer Services Angie Apannarale@revell.com I guess this means that the people who couldn't submit because of website issues have other options.
  7. @jbwelda I hope they aren't receiving photos on a cellphone if they have trouble making an email automatically send! The photos look fine, but I was hoping to have some of the finer details I put into my model show up. It is what it is. I'm just glad it went through - I think.
  8. I'm not sure what you mean by my phone getting "hit." Can you explain? I can get decent photos down to 250k - but by that point they are no longer decent.
  9. I tried it with all of mine at about 1.8m each and it failed. I then shrunk it bit by bit (terrible computer pun) until it all was under 2M an it finally went. Ah well. Their business is model making, not web design. :-/ Glad yours went through.
  10. Using their resizer, I got the total down to 1.6M and mine finally went through. It appears the TOTAL combined size for ALL pictures can't be more than 2M. Yikes. I was hoping the pictures could tell them about the details that I put into the car since I can't write them about it. Someone needs to tell Revell that it's 2012. My cell phone takes pictures that are bigger than 2M. My actual camera is closer to 4.
  11. I hear you! I was impressed that I was able to get them below 2M! How are the judges going to read the odometer?
  12. I wonder if the total combined size for all pictures can't be over 2M. It really isn't clear.
  13. Yes. Edit: Has anyone successfully submitted? What browser were you using? How many pictures did you submit? What size were they?
  14. Same here. I tried submitting twice Sunday, once through Chrome and once through IE, and never went to the "Thank You" page or got a confirmation email. I sent an email asking if the size for each picture needed to be less than 2M or if it meant the total for all pictures, and I haven't heard anything back. I imagine they're getting swamped with the end date being today, but with this being the second year, this should really be more streamlined.
  15. The translator isn't perfect, but it works. Aside from the paint issues, I love the stance and color. All it needs is to have the side and window trim chromed. Nice job!
  16. I've seen the engine packs on Ebay for reasonable prices. Your best buy is multiples - I think I got 2 of each for under $20 shipped.
  17. Take your time and stick the PE on the sticky side of some tape before you cut it. YOU CAN DO IT!
  18. @George Thanks! I had to pay homage to my beautiful home state. Tell those pleasant peninsulas I said hi! @Bruce Good eye on the cover bail! That's when I knew things were getting crazy... Oh, and thanks for teaching me a new term - cover bail. @Jim I had a feeling I'd be hearing from you. Thanks! @Phillip Here you go:
  19. The woodgrain was Testor's Brown as a base and Testor's Rubber as the grain.
  20. This is my most detailed build to date. The paint is Model Master Burgundy Red Metallic. Some highlights: - MCG photo etch set - Reverse lights added into tail lights - Detailed engine compartment: ignition wires, coil, battery terminals/wires, heater hoses, some vacuum lines, brake lines, fan belt - Detailed dash: added knobs, grab bar, vents - Headliner with light - "Wood" trim painted for center console and dash - Seat belts - Through-the-body dual exhaust - Custom license plate Thanks for looking! If you want more photos, the album is here.
  21. That is awesome! I feel like it's a little tall, but what a unique idea. Nice job, Fabrizio!
  22. Beautiful car, Matt. I love the action shot at the end.
  23. Me too! When are we meeting up? The weather has been beautiful for painting. As for clubs, the closest clubs I've found are 3 hours away in NY or 3 hours away in Mass.
  24. Wow. That is beautiful. Here's the dash from my 66 Beetle.
  25. Yeah, this is my first contest and I wanted to make sure I did it right. Rick Haas from Revell said that drilling the exhaust is "part of finishing."
