Thank you Chris Smith for the research on the engine color. You found a great chart on ford engine colors. So I went black not blue.

Thank you guys very much. vamach1 we need to see more of the factory five. I would like to build one some day. Here is the start of the engine. Painted the engine block black. Sand blasted the manifold, oil pan, bellhousing, heads, front timing chain cover.

All the panels are on the car permanently. Repolished and the body is going to be put away . 427 next. Had to take a pick of the brake and clutch pedals. Painted the starbursts black.

Thank you guys very much. Put the hood and deck lid on permanently. Lovers in the side of the body. The rivers and lovers took a long time to do. Had to assemble the louvers .Redrill the holes in the body for the paint clearance. A little nerve racking painted the inside of the shell flat aluminum from tamiya. Getting all the silver fingerprints off the car was fun. Just thinking about Codi and he is right. I had to laugh at myself about Codi’s comment about model factory hiro. I believe all of them are hard to do , just in different ways. Codi you are right. What was I thinking???????

Thank you guys. All of you guys are world class builders. Me , not so much. Here is the base coat paint I used. And the spray gun I use. The clear I use is sherwin Williams HPC 15. You need hardner and reducer also. The clear is like water when mixed so it goes onto models in scale. All 2k clears are not created equal. House of color is very thick , so not so good for models. The bad part on the sherwin Williams HPC 15 is it is going out. It’s a older product. So I will find another soon. PPG has some good clears I will try out. The base is bmw color systems base. Water based so it is a little harder to work with. BMW changes out their paints every 2 years. So the old stuff goes into the recycler. ( thrown out). So I take them home for my models. Saves them hundreds of dollars for disposal fees and I get free paint. The spray gun I use is a iwata lph 400. Full size spray gun. Has great adjustments for fine refinishing. Hope this helps. Here are some pics. Thank you guys

Thank you guys for the wonderful comments. I’m going to be rubbing and polishing this car all week. Want it to be the best and smoothest paint job I have ever done on a model. My detail friend set me up with some super stuff. I do not know what it is but it really works great. He even labeled it (polishing for dummies) 1 is for cutting, 2 is for polishing and 3 is wax. I resanded the body last week and sprayed several more coats of clear. So I will not rub thru. Pressing the envelope on the paint. But so far it’s working.

Yes, I miss those days......

Remember this. And the price. Forgot I had these. I’m tempted to open them to see if they spray. the rattle ball is still working.

Thank you Bugatti Fan. I do not know if this qualifies, a 1/12 revell GT 500 convertible. I made it from a fastback . A few scratch built things.

12 years ago I got back into the hobby. This was the first build. I did not know much and did not have much in the way of tools or knowledge about the hobby. A 32 body, I think it was amt. the frame was cut up and the engine block was from a friends parts bin. Blower, headers and most of the other stuff was scratch built. Pretty crude build. The sizes of the parts are not the best scale . But it was fun and the start of a car modeling.

Thank you Deuses ll. And thank you guys for the great comments. So far I am happy with the results but do not want to get cocky as the model gods can humble you real fast. Might rest on the body and start on the 427. Thank you guys
