Ok Too Old, showed the model to a friend who is a club president and he has been a head judge for IPMS events and pointed that out immediately. So since he has bugged me to death about the seam in the radiator, I fixed it. Supposed to be a slump buster build which is not supposed to be a contest build but since he said it could be a contest winner if it wasn’t for that seam. Soooo I fixed it. Here is a pic of it fixed. Still see a slight line but it is considerably better. Wasn’t going to enter it in a contest but now I’m going to just to see what it will do.

Thank you, I saw that after I put it in . You’re right it needs to come out. But since this is a slump buster build. It will stay in.

I would like to thank johnnyrotten and. NOBLING for giving me heads up on the kit. It has a few problems. But these guys made the build go a lot smoother! Thank you

1964 monogram GTO. Chassis is painted black with sem trim black. The spindles were made from evergreen plastic to lower the car. The rear suspension springs were cut to lower the car. Had to cut the exhaust from the rear differential. Easy to lower this car. The body was sanded and the door handles and wipers were sanded off. Drilled a very small hole to locate door handles and door locks. Also drilled the holes for the wipers. Trimmed the seam lines with 400 and sanded the whole body with a gold scotch brite pad. Primed with tamiya grey primer. Painted the base color black pearl from diamont then urethane cleared . Sanded with 2000 grit. Rubbed her out and then polished. The engine is testors acrylic bottle paints thru a iwatta air brush. Mixed it to get the color as close to a 1974 GTO as best as possible. Also used testors bottle gold and silver. The white overflow bottle is testors white. Molotow chrome to touch up chrome parts in the engine bay. The bumpers are painted revell chrome. Used a model car garage pe set for emblems and steering wheel. Grill also. Wheels are jays resins. And the engine wires are from pro tech. Wipers and door handles were robbed from a revell foose impala kit. Made a very big novice mistake, did not inventory parts. Missing hood scoop inserts, red tail lamps and clear headlamps. But the foose impala had missing parts. Had to make the hood inserts out of evergreen. I bought the kit for $10 at a swap meet. The interior is painted with tamiya tan with clear orange then flat clear. To give it that sexy Ferrari look. I guess it is a GTO LOL. For a slump buster build I’m pretty happy with her. Hope you guys like.

Ok just about finished. Letting things dry. Door mirror and license plate is all that’s left. Tomorrow it will be finished.

Very wild! Super nice build! One thing I love about car modeling is that there is so many different types of cars. All with their special skill set.

Thank you for the heads up on things. I added extra plastic for the bumper mounts. If you look close you can see the extra plastic I added.

Glass installed, interior installed, exhaust installed, mounted the body to the chassis. Engine fits with no hood interference. Tires and wheels are fitting nicely, the stance I wanted is still good. Now to finish her up.

Coolest Ford wagon ever???

Now that’s really cool! -
I love them all, but as a kid I bought amt because of the instructions. They labeled each part to what it was. And as a kid I learned from that. At 11 years old I did not know what a coil was or an alternator for that matter. But AMT labeled the parts so I learned a lot about cars from building the models. Did the other companies do that? I’m going from memory of a very long time ago so I may be totally wrong. Plus I thought amt had better models at that time . But this is from memory and that may be wrong also.

I am trying to hold back on the super detail stuff. Do not want to go down that path on this build. This build is supposed to be close to out of box but i cannot let some things go. I have detailed pics of the carbs and it is hard not to go down that rabbit hole. Had to stop.

I added brackets to the floating alternator and power steering pump. It just bugged me. Oh and had to add red spark plug boots.

I try to go to my addiction meeting er model meeting every month but I believe my addiction gets worse so I believe it’s not working.

When teenagers ruled the hobby …

Man I used to love looking at these magazines. I remember Tim’s work back then and wondered if I can build like that … well no but I tried. -
P.S. I thought the engine color was a bluish silver but my GTO buddy said the first one in 64 was a turquoise color. So I tried to match the best I could.

Things are finally settling down a bit. Trying to finish this before our sept contest. Might be a tough thing to do as sept is really busy with the 296 Ferrari challenge cars. I’ll be in Monterey for a week . The Ferrari challenge will be at Laguna Seca. But anyways the Pontiac is comming out . Was able to work on the engine. Not a lot of detail, just engine plug wires. So far
