  1. I have this amt kit and the kit is a little dated. But you made it really nice. Great job.
  2. Cool build.
  3. Unfortunately guys this trend of expensive car , trucks and everything else will continue. The classic car market is lower than a few years ago but still out of most of our hands. Like duesenberg lower in price but still millions. I will still to try to buy classic cars even if they are expensive. If they go down in price, so what, drive and enjoy them. But more than likely the market always comes back and they go up, not like a new car where you lose your shirt. Pants etc. there are a few that go up. Rare ones that most of us cannot afford. As I’m looking around, my friends are getting older and have fixed incomes. I’m very lucky , but still worried about the out of control pricing on things. What do we do? And what’s next?
  4. Jeremy Clarkston said it perfectly, you need to buy 2 Mercedes. One to drive while the other is in the shop getting fixed. But he does own a new VW GTi but Richard Hammond makes fun of him joking that you bought a car from a company that totally lied to the public .
  5. Ok you know the one about the difference between a bmw owner and a porcupine?………. HA
  6. Ok I will tell a story but will probably get sued. Oh well I have lawyers on retainers so they will have to earn their pay. I worked at BMW for a few years. In the 60’s and seventy’s they were a great company, I went to their schools and make a long story short I walked out of the last class , went back to the dealer I was working at and quit. It’s all about money with not just bmw but most of the German car companies. VW was totally honest with their smog and gas mileage results. NOT. They just got caught. Believe me there is more going on than any of you know. Let’s just say I will never buy a new German car. Nuff said. Now the older German cars are probably the best engineered cars ever. I am now looking at a bmw 2002 tii to purchase. Not the year , the model. 1960-70 for you younger guys. I have owned a 1970 914-6, a 914and several 911’s. Great cars. Stay away from the new stuff. Now if they came out with a much simpler car, without a lot of the electric junk that’s not needed for a person that knows how to drive. Like looking over your shoulder to see what’s in back of you, it would be so much cheaper. Like thousands of dollars. So a $60,000 car could be half that. 5 years ago I attended a Mercedes school and learned there was 137 computers on the car. Head lamp computers, door window computers, back up computers, side marker mirror computers and the list goes on. I have to admit that some of progress is great , like my corvette getting 26 mpg at 70 mph with 400 hp and 400 ft. Lbs . That in 1970 was 7 mpg and altitude adjustment with the carbs. I was on a timed runway and went 145 mph at 4500 rpm with the ac on and the cd player going, my 69 camaro seemed like it was falling apart at 120 and got a great 10 mpg. I know gas was cheaper but so was wages. So some progress is welcomed but when it’s dedicated to total greed is when I draw the line.
  7. I have a friend that works on exotic SUV’s and he just put in a headlamp to a ( I won’t say the brand) British SUV and it was $8000. Come on, this is getting out of control.
  8. It’s beautiful
  9. Can you believe it, this is my job. I have to do it.
  10. Will be at laguna seca 12-14. ( now weather tech raceway, was Mazda raceway). Anyway I will post pics of the event. They were cool and paid for everything. My attire I have to wear.
  11. This paint scheme is interesting
  12. Ok Too Old, showed the model to a friend who is a club president and he has been a head judge for IPMS events and pointed that out immediately. So since he has bugged me to death about the seam in the radiator, I fixed it. Supposed to be a slump buster build which is not supposed to be a contest build but since he said it could be a contest winner if it wasn’t for that seam. Soooo I fixed it. Here is a pic of it fixed. Still see a slight line but it is considerably better. Wasn’t going to enter it in a contest but now I’m going to just to see what it will do.
  13. Thank you, I saw that after I put it in . You’re right it needs to come out. But since this is a slump buster build. It will stay in.
  14. I would like to thank johnnyrotten and. NOBLING for giving me heads up on the kit. It has a few problems. But these guys made the build go a lot smoother! Thank you
  15. 1964 monogram GTO. Chassis is painted black with sem trim black. The spindles were made from evergreen plastic to lower the car. The rear suspension springs were cut to lower the car. Had to cut the exhaust from the rear differential. Easy to lower this car. The body was sanded and the door handles and wipers were sanded off. Drilled a very small hole to locate door handles and door locks. Also drilled the holes for the wipers. Trimmed the seam lines with 400 and sanded the whole body with a gold scotch brite pad. Primed with tamiya grey primer. Painted the base color black pearl from diamont then urethane cleared . Sanded with 2000 grit. Rubbed her out and then polished. The engine is testors acrylic bottle paints thru a iwatta air brush. Mixed it to get the color as close to a 1974 GTO as best as possible. Also used testors bottle gold and silver. The white overflow bottle is testors white. Molotow chrome to touch up chrome parts in the engine bay. The bumpers are painted revell chrome. Used a model car garage pe set for emblems and steering wheel. Grill also. Wheels are jays resins. And the engine wires are from pro tech. Wipers and door handles were robbed from a revell foose impala kit. Made a very big novice mistake, did not inventory parts. Missing hood scoop inserts, red tail lamps and clear headlamps. But the foose impala had missing parts. Had to make the hood inserts out of evergreen. I bought the kit for $10 at a swap meet. The interior is painted with tamiya tan with clear orange then flat clear. To give it that sexy Ferrari look. I guess it is a GTO LOL. For a slump buster build I’m pretty happy with her. Hope you guys like.

    1964 GTO

Ok just about finished. Letting things dry. Door mirror and license plate is all that’s left. Tomorrow it will be finished.
  19. Very wild! Super nice build! One thing I love about car modeling is that there is so many different types of cars. All with their special skill set.
  20. Brudda

    1964 GTO

Thank you for the heads up on things. I added extra plastic for the bumper mounts. If you look close you can see the extra plastic I added.
  21. Brudda

    1964 GTO

Glass installed, interior installed, exhaust installed, mounted the body to the chassis. Engine fits with no hood interference. Tires and wheels are fitting nicely, the stance I wanted is still good. Now to finish her up.
  22. Mounted the body on the chassis. Starting to look like a car. Temporary put the tires and wheels on for a last fit. Stance is good , no engine interference problems and the hood fits, now we can move on to finish her.
