  2. I have to add…. This is a hot rod. Everything goes. Cutting , sectioning , creative painting , it’s all what you want. I have an extensive portfolio on models and real cars . Met the big guys in the industry and even built things for them. I’m working on Ferrari 296 challenge cars right now. My examples are in pics. As for models I have won the special award at the Las Vegas IPMS nationals with a few seconds and a third place award. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and mine is this is one cool build. Keep it up!

  6. Here is a bbr kit. The body is very good. But look at the under side. Not even close to the inexpensive monogram kit. I’ve said it before, I do not know why these were not a great hit in Europe. I will build the 246 Dino in the future. But the cobra is next.
  7. Hello Steph. I went to our club bbq and I received a 1/43 cobra for free. I just traded a 1/24 Porsche for one. So I will have 2 cobras. Might make a racing team with them. These are not expensive and make a fun build.
  8. Bumpers installed. Front was an easy install. The rear not so much. Rear was a lot harder. If you build one of these, the rear bumpers have a cutout in the bumper. But you need to remove the little plastic inside the bumper.otherwise it will not sit on the body correctly. I had to spray the rear bumper with revell chrome paint as the chrome was very bad. There was a little extra plastic on the back side of the bumper that has to be removed in order for the bumper to sit flush to the body. Naturally I found this out after I painted the bumpers chrome. Tried to mount the bumpers and they would not sit straight, so I removed the extra plastic with a very small dremel and it worked out good. But if you test fit the bumpers before gluing it will be much easier. The whole build was totally free of any issues, until I got cocky and just about screwed up the rear of this car. Now the final stages of the build . windshield , sidepipes and the emblems that I can hardy see.
  9. Latest one repaired. Door was caved in. Metal finished the aluminum door. No bondo. Not allowed. Saved as many parts as possible. Fenders are $7000 each, doors are $8000 and a1/4 panel is around $15000. Actually the parts are a lot more as dealers mark these prices up like the cars. Try to find a 296 street Ferrari for the advertised price if $375000. Not happening. You’ll spend over $500000. And that’s if you have the right connections. It’s totally insane. Replaced the structural bar on the car. Was a challenge as the fuel tank was right there. But the repairs come out sweet. In 1970 I used to repair aluminum Ferraris all the time. My father was a metal shaper and taught me how to do this stuff a long time ago. So it’s not a big deal to me. But I hear not many guys do this anymore. Ferrari has a guy in LA that still comes out to do repairs as these guys keep crashing them, He’s paid $5000 a week not including expenses. We are both so busy the we have a very hard time keeping up, The sad thing is we are both ready to retire and they are begging us not to. Where are the new talent?
  10. On her wheels. Stance is not perfect but it’s stock and I did not modify the kit stance. Not bad , usually I have to modify the stance on most kits. All four hit the ground . Now for the little details. Side pipes might be fun as it’s a photoetch cover over the pipes.
  11. Installed the chassis and interior in the body with no fit issues at all. I really like this kit.
  12. Thank you Steph. This is my first one. I have some starter and bbr kits in 1/43 but never built them. I had a friend from the Bay Area that built 1/43. He gave me a few kits and I did not realize how expensive these little guys were. I bought them at swap meets for a really reduced price. This corvette was purchased for the great sum of $2. And it’s a better model than the starter , bbr kits. I have put the chassis in the body with the interior and no fit issues at all. Fits better than any of my model factory hiro kits. I traded a tamiya 1/24 Porsche kit for the 1/43 monogram cobra. If it’s half as good as this kit I will be very happy. I built this as a relief from the mfh kits and big 1/8 kits. I’m really liking this scale. You hardly use any material at all. The only problem is me, as the parts go flying across the room with my tweezers. But I have developed new skills to pick up these tiny parts. Thank you and you should try one. I think you will have fun.

  16. David I did not realize how cool these kits are. The fit is better than most 1/25-24 kits. I know they fit better than a very very expensive mfh kit. I’m building this out of box. But there is a lot of potential for extra detailing. I have a bbr Ferrari 246 Dino and the detail on the body is great but there is no suspension detail and those kits cost a lot. I’m very surprised these did not take off, especially in Europe. I’m trading a Porsche model for a 1/43 cobra kit. Hope that’s just as good as the corvette
  17. A monogram 427 corvette in 1/43. From 1/8 scale to 1/43? Am I crazy ? Yes I am. Building this as an out of box kit to clear my mind of big scale and mfh kits. Pretty cool little kit. Bought it for $2 at our club contest. Painted her marina blue) automotive) with a very reduced clear sprayed thru a single stage pasche air brush. The rest of the colors are testors orange for the engine and tamiya paints for everything else. I have several bbr and starter kits in 1/43 and they are not as detailed as this monogram kit. Hard on the eyes but it’s a blast to build. You hardly use any materials at all. I can really get interested in this scale. If my eyes hold out. It’s a very fun kit. The fit is fantastic. Very surprised for such a small kit. Hope you like.

  19. Hello Big John, it is a mpc kit that I cut out the huge engine mount. The tires are from Indy cals . Their decal and tires are great.
