Decaled and recleared . 4 Coates of urethane clear. Trying a new clear. Used all of my expensive clears. This one is very good and inexpensive. Seams to take longer to dry. This was so big to paint. The biggest model I have painted. No air brush here. Need a spray gun for this one.

Thank you very much FunkyChicken, the surgery went very good. Recovery was 6 weeks. Back to kind of normal. The hospital at that time was empty. But now there is a big tent in the parking lots for covid patients. If there was a good side to it , was the timing. I did not take this stuff seriously. I was mistaken. As we get older we get more stubborn. Listen to the doctors. If I did not get the surgery done, I would be gone in a year. So , enjoy modeling and live it to the fullest. Thank you sir for the kind words.

Hello TransAmMike. This is going to be a little long winded. I’m going to humble myself and say most of you guys are better modelers than myself. With that being said I have been in the body shop business since 1969. Going to retire very soon. I do have most certifications on most automotive paint systems. So I do know paint just a little. I CANNOT paint a model car body with model paint. I have tried several times with very poor results. I do not know how you guys paint with that stuff. I do know how to weld( mig, tig etc with all certifications on those as well) ( computer frame equipment certs also) . I’m currently working on a 2020 corvette. Just a little history on myself. So I am very lucky to be in model car building. I have a lot of money in paint guns. A new paint gun costs $1000 today. Gone are the $100 spray guns for automotive refinishing. ( although you can do a backyard paint job on the cheap) but not on a 2020 corvette. Now to get to the point. I use a sata minijet for most models. It’s a small detail spray gun. But it’s expensive. This is what I use for the base paint. I use a iwata lph 400 for the clear. I am painting this for DeAgostini model space company. The body is going to England. The base I use is a water based automotive paint with a urethane clear. DeAgostini gave me some zero paints for the color match, but I could not use it. In the real automotive world we call it BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH. I sent the zero paint to my paint company and they hated it for a spray out. They also called it BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH. I repeat, how do you guys use this stuff? So my paint company called Toyota archives for the actual paint code. Soo I painted the Toyota 2000 GT with real automotive paint. If you want , I can give you the actual stuff I used but most guys find it too complicated and it is expensive. I’m very lucky in that respect, that I get the paint and clear for free. Since our dealership spends a lot of money a month for paint, I get my stuff for free. Here is some examples of the models I have painted. . If you decide to jump into the world of automotive paints, I can direct you in the proper and least expensive path. Just give me a PM.

I have to respond to this. I have a good friend that worked for revell when revell was in Southern California. He told me that revell would send 2 guys to measure a subject and have 2 days to complete the measurements. The Japanese would send 12 guys and stay a week measuring the same subject. Guess who is going to have a better product? But at a cost. The revell kit was sooo much cheaper. But the accuracy was a little off. The tamiya kit was spot on but the price was double. Each had their own market. But the complaints still come. A good friend of mine that was a president of a big IPMS club, said it the best. “ Most modelers are very cheap. And most modelers will complain about anything. “ Hmmmmm

Hello sir! The supersnake is a very good kit. I’m watching your GT500 build. I just might have to get that one to add to the Shelby collection. These big kits are just a great modeling experience. Cannot wait for the body to arrive. I’m very impressed on the paint match and the finish. Liam White has really put effort in his kits. I just saw a episode of Jay Leno’s garage and the black 427 cobra is sooooo cool. If I get that one , I will paint it black. Looks real mean! Here are pics of the supersnake so far. The wiring is very pleasant to do. Numbered and easy. Great instructions!

Thank you sir! Wow over3000 diecasts!!!! Yes I will give only honest answers also. I’m also going to retire soon so I guess I better make the best of things. Most of the big kits are good but can use more detail. Mark and I have thought of detail sets for the big kits. Maybe later. ..... Pack 10 came in yesterday and it looks pretty involved. A small computer, wiring and a speaker for sound and lighting. Lights work, brake lights work when you step on the brake. The accelerator pedal makes engine sounds. Horn works. Play factor is great in this model. The paint finish is very good on the model. What I like about Agora is they give you fantastic instructions with extra screws. You get a extra screw on each numbered pack. So by this time in the build, you have a good assortment of extra screws. You will lose one! So far the Agora super snake is going great and cannot wait for the body. I’m glad the instructions are clear as I am not the greatest in the wiring department. I will start working on it tomorrow.
