  1. Here's some better pix taken outdoors.
  2. Outstanding progress Ty. Lovin' this build with all of your little touches. I drew up the logo from reference I found on line, just need to find you someone to print it.
  3. Those schematics are great to have access to and I recognize page #20. Thanks for posting the link.
  4. I was beginning to wonder how you were doing on this and BAM, an update with tons of gorgeous work being completed. This whole build has been a true enjoyment to watch from the very beginning. Keep those updates coming Dave.
  5. Great update Chris. You might as well have a garage sale on all of your 1/24th and 1/25th scale stuff as I never see you going back to a smaller scale ever again. LOL Yup, those are some nice looking rims. Jim's work is exquisite.
  6. Not a big update, you say? I say it is a HUGE update. I was not aware of this on the R2B2 chassis and your execution is flawless and inspiring. Great work Clay.
  7. I'm with ya on that one Bart.
  8. Thanks so much for the motivation and comments fellas. Thought I would share with you how I mounted the chute cords to the chassis. I used a piece of Detail Master fitting line and bent it into a U shape and flattened the ends to drill holes into went a piece of wire with one end bent at a right angle. The diameter of the wire allowed a nut from Scale Hardware to fit over. I had already drilled a hole in the rear end strengther before I mounted it so long ago just for this purpose. So now this task can be marked off the to-do list. Next up is roll bar padding which I have not been looking forward to so we'll see how it goes. Thanks for following along.
  9. Thanks Tyrone. That means alot coming from you. I was able to get the chute finished and installed. The cord underneath pulls apart so the body can be removed. Just had to put in a driver's view shot too. More to come as this gets buttoned up in the next day or two. Thanks for following along on this lengthy build.
  10. Romless? Non-Rom? UnRommed? Can't have any of those !!
  11. This is off the charts Jack. I know all you guys are conspiring together to get the rest of us to move to 1/16th scale and this build is very convincing.
  12. Following this fascinating build thread was like reading a good book. Almost a shame that its come to a close but I'm sure there'll be other Romell 'books.' Looking foward to studying every detail in person later this month. What's left to do to the edges of the base and where did you get the 1/16th scale rolling toolbox? Last night I could see the pics but today its the same as for Chris "too many views."
  13. Thanks for the comments guys. This was and still is a fun build and I put more into this one than any other but that's how it's suppose to work with progressive skills.
  14. Thanks Greg. It's been a long road and I've enjoyed every minute of it.
  15. Well, what can I say. I'm finally back at this build. I wanted to airbrush the paint but after my compressor was stolen, I finally decided to use a rattle can. Self-made decals have been applied along with a few others on the firewall. Just a few items left like finishing up the parachute and cords. I'm going to set it up where I can still remove the body for displaying purposes and be able to unhook the parachute cords so the body can be separate. A few other small items left to do before I can call this one done.
  16. If these mail packages don't provide some motivation, I think you shoud seek professional help. LOL
  17. Very nice stuff Ted. I'll be watching this one closely. I like the different finishes on the engine and all of your subtle detailing..
  18. It took me awhile to learn to order twice as many as I think I'll need due to loosing them across the room. Plug wires and magneto are finally wired up. I shot some dull coat on the blower and the plumbing lines as they were too shiny to represent rubber. BTW - I use alot of different colors of wire from the local Orvis store that is intended for tying flies for fyfishing, which is another of my hobbies. There are so many choices in thickness and colors to choose from so if any of you are near an Orvis store, check them out. You can also order online at orvis.com. Other flyfishing specialty stores will have similar stuff as well.
  19. Thanks guys. I really appreciate the feedback and comments. The camera is a Canon PowerShot SD800 IS and by utilizing the macro feature I can make a postage stamp fill the whole frame and still be in focus. I love this camera. I have a whole lot of work for this to be finished for Desert Scale Classic next month and it will be a tight one to get it done along with my Fiat altered painted and decaled. The fuel line connections are the smallest threaded nuts from Scale Hardware, number THRN-05-N. They work quite well for this but are a bear to keep in the tweezers. I loose as many as I use. Stay tuned as I get back to the bench on this and thanks for following along.
  20. Shiny candy....nothin' better. Man that paint really glistens. Fantastic job all around Rom. Looking forward to seeing the chutes all done up. What will you be using for the deployed chute base? Will you be scratchbuilding them?
  21. Good to see you over here Clay. I'm another big fan and it will be a treat to watch this all come together. Watching with enthusiatic interest.
  22. Very nice indeed. Lovin' this build although I still believe its a 1:1 scale. LOL
  23. This build of yours Rom is setting new standards and the only problem I see with that is what will you build after this that's better? I don't know if that can be done. I can't wait to see this in person next month.
  24. Thanks Chris and Charlie. Its encouragement from this forum that keeps me at it although I'm so busy with other things that I don't seem to get much bench time lately. Since my last post, I've wired up the plug wires and put a initial coat of primer on the Fiat. Stay tuned as I'll get this done.
  25. Awesome Ty. Love your work and this one is at the top of the list. Keep killin' it!!
