1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018

Stellar stuff my friend. Its really going together for the final time. -
Got the tank and pipes on so things are wrapping up with the chassis. Still a bit of body work to do since one of the exhaust piped on the left side touches. Still gotta plumb the tank to the fuel pump but I want to make sure the glue was completely dry so I'll do that tomorrow. Still have the shifter to do as well. Here's a pic of the tank and pipes. Just for grins, I took a pic of it sitting on a dollar. More to follow.

The '57 is my favorite year of Corvette and you did it justice. Man those are nicely one and you should be proud. A very productive year. I think I finished one last year, sad to say.

This is another of Lanny's fine builds. I saw this in person at our club meeting last Saturday. I kept coming back to study it some more. A sweet set-up. Kudos Lanny!!

Not only is the finished model something to behold and so nicely done but seeing what you started with makes it that much more magnificent. Bravo!!

saw this going down the road so had to build one

I've seen this combo in real life, the scale models that is, and Lanny has out done himself. They are so nicely done. I'd be darn proud to have them in my display case. Hats off to you Lanny. -
Nice work Walt. Love those late '60s Mopars. I have a '69 Roadrunner on my 'to-do' list.

Wow is that ever nice Ray. That blue has Cobra written all over it.

Oh come on...will this coolness ever stop. I sincerely hope not!!

Greta stuff Chris and I don't see any oil leaks so far. I'm like Dave and want to see what you didn't get posted. -

Those really printed out nicely and the fit looks spot on. Yep, the screws always are. -
Everything you do and post pictures of is over the top. Incredible update. Just keeps getting better and better. John's pulled that on me a time or two.

Thanks Chris. A bit of time at the bench over the weekend and got a few items completed. Made a butterfly wheel from brass rod and soldered to a small piece of brass tubing, got a brake pedal made, attached the seat and glued the floorboard / firewall in place. Seemed like some major accomplishments in my head but not so much when i list them here. Huh?? Making a small aluminum gas tank from a couple of capacitors from an old circuit board. I already had one but it was too big. Tried a smaller one but it was too small. Had to make a third one. It take two of these capacitors to make one tank. I cut them apart towards the end so I can cover the seam with a thin strip of aluminum printing plate. I think you can see in the picture. The one on the right still needs the thin strip of printing plate. These get polished up with 400 and progressively smaller sanding sticks. Then I carefully put them in my drill and polish the ends so I get the concentric swirl. that's all for now.

As others have said, these decals matched up quite well with the kit. I too have thought this would make for a practical strip car. You've done this kit proud.

Have any of those minions shown up yet? I sent them about a week ago. -
Before I put the curved white sheet away for the makeshift photo shoot, I thought I'd take a picture along side a quarter to remind everyone how small this is. Wish there were more available kits in this size, this scale is fun and doesn't take 10 months to build. :-)

Thanks for following along on this build Bob. Appreciate your comment and I think Monogram should dig these molds out of moth balls and put them to use. Had a tremendously long bench session yesterday and was able to get the front axle done. I was waiting on some rod ends from RB Motion and once I checked the mail, I went into high gear. I radius rods are stainless steel tubing from RB Motion and I experimented with trying to solder them. That worked out perfectly although I had to re-solder each one three times because I would break the arm off trying to clean off the excess solder. I eventually get really good at it. Since I don't have any more of the small nuts and bolts, I use brass brads from a local doll store. They were cut in half, put in place and ground down to the proper length while in place so the burr would hold it in place. Enough yammerin', let's get to the pictures. Hopefully more bench time today. As always, criticism and / or comments welcome.

Thanks guys.

Eeegaaaddzz Tim, that is beautiful. I can tell you all about the carpet monster that sucks up everything that drops. I have one of those here at my house too. Of course there isn't a magnet for brass. :-)

Rarely do I see anyone working in this scale. Granted, there isn't much to work with but these few kits are too cool not to put to good use. Besides, I wanted to see if I could do it.

Thanks fellas. Got the injectors plumbed up last night. Had to get out better lighting for this. More to come this weekend.

That's the one. You sure do some great SW artwork. Are these going to be available in your ShapeWays store? -
Thanks Paul. I'm really liking this thing too. I have the Ford Screamer too. Would love to find the Willys.
