  1. First coat of paint on the body today. Sprayed in the garage and the spray can was warmed in my armpit. I know, sounds gross but I did have a shirt on.
  2. Making some great progress Johnnie. Good work.
  3. Must be a southwest thing then. We should split the order so we can get a volume discount.
  4. Loving this John. Almost the entire thing is scratch built. Superb craftsmanship.
  5. Alright fellas. Happy holidays to all. I woke up this morning determined to get the mirror replaced and with a bit of polishing, I was able to get it done. Next, I want to separate the single interior window pane into the four like the outside. Here's the new mirror made with polished aluminum printing plate. More to follow.
  6. Looks like you're off to a good start.
  7. There sure is a lot going on and I love how it came out. Congrats on a job well done.
  8. Hey Chris - as always, glad to help you out. I'll send you an email because I have a few questions about what it is you're trying to accomplish.
  9. Got your text and the graphic was done in CS5 and I don't think I can save it to an earlier version. Hopefully you're at the bench tonight.
  10. Very nice stuff Brent. Already looking forward to your next update.
  11. Thanks for your kindness Tom. Its much appreciated.
  12. Rear wheels are back and are they ever nice but with the craziness of the holidays probably won't get any bench time until after Christmas. Too cold around here to do any painting of the body too. It was 36 this morning in NW Phoenix. A bit chilly for us desert dwellers.
  13. Well, in looking at this build the other day, I realized I had always wanted to redo the mirror. The BMF turned out bumpy so I'll use a piece of polished printing plate to cover the foil. The plate will be cut to fit directly over the existing mirror inside the frame. I tried to pop the mirror frame off and it wouldn't budge so I tried to take the cabinet off the wall and it was really stuck too. I was hoping the cabinet would come off so I could make a new one that the mirror door would open showing shelves and small items inside. Alas, not to be. I don't want to break anything.
  14. More love here too. Exquisite execution. I really need to get that package off to you.
  15. Again, you're on top of your game Chris. Its funny how we dread to do a particular task because of the challenge and then it ends up to be much easier than we thought. What's next on your to-do list?
  16. Glad to help out. You would have discovered it sooner rather than later. Its funny, I do the same thing...tell myself I gotta do this, gotta do this and then when it comes time to do it, I forget.
  17. Is it me or maybe the picture angle but the differential looks upside down.
  18. You're making great progress on this and I like where you're headed. This kit / body was always fiddly and your solution to the rear, under the doors is a nice solution. I'm dialed in.
  19. He has the touch and I agree, I hope Santa brings him a few new kits under the tree and each one has a slightly higher skill set so he can develop his abilities on each successive kit. Keep motivating him with positive reinforcement and he'll go far. Set him up as a new member here so he can post his progress. We all love to see the younger generation post and watch their progress. Kudos to you Zachary.
  20. Thanks Darryl. It sure was a lot of fun and I hope to build another some day. I just need to learn to 'weather' like you.
  21. That came out great. So gald you used a metal piece instead of the thick plastic one that was in the kit. Nicely done. Glad you're back at it.
  22. Hey Tyler. I made it out of aluminum tubing since I knew the bulb would get too hot for plastic. I cut slots in the top and tapered the tabs into points so I could bend them over to make a dome shape. The trouble light actually plugs into a wall outlet under the windows on the back wall. Thanks for your interest and comment.
  23. Very nice Art. Glad to see you got in some bench time. The guitar strings worked perfectly on those exhaust piped. Well done.
