  1. Holy cow Tim. This is awesome stuff. I've got my notebook in hand and the pages are filling up fast.
  2. OK Joe, you convinced me to do the interior and have the roof lift off. This will be my third consecutive build with a bed in it. I guess it the 'Sleeping Series.' A bit of time at the bench and I really thought I was making some great progress but looking at the picture I took this morning, it doesn't really look like it. Those ribs take more time to make than I thought. Here's the pic. Stay tuned.
  3. Oh yeah...this is looking really good Ron. Glad you steered away from the flip nose body. I have one of these planned in the future so I'm dialed in on yours.
  4. Me too Joe. Still haven't completely ruled it out. Just trying to figure out how to attach the inner skins to the aluminum square ribs. Making the cabinetry isn't a problem although it will be tight in there. I'm working through the whole assembly and construction processes out in my head.
  5. I'm in the process of also building a sprint car and have ordered stuff from Dirt Modeler and since he was out of the axle, I just moved on to another build. I gotta have something for DSC in April. If I get the Scout Truck done, I'll get back to the sprint car. Thanks for the reference pics of yours to go by. You're killing this build and all that you've shown is the chassis. Can't wait for more. Oh...really nice score on all of the metal.
  6. Spent a little bit of bench time last night and started on the roof rack. Simple construction with printing plate brackets and basswood cross beams painted flat silver. The supports were attached with small brass brads from the dollhouse store. Next will be the flat base material and I'm thinking I need to go to the LHS for a thicker piece of aluminum sheet. Here's a couple of pictures. Thanks for your interest and comments welcome.
  7. OMG Art. Are you sure you've not worked in brass before? Amazing update. Will you please disclose your source for the small diameter brass tubing and rod? Also, is that a Dirt Modeler straight axle? I've been trying to order one but they are out of stock and have been for some time.
  8. I didn't know you were coming Randy. That's awesome. Please bring that brass wrecker of yours. It will be great to finally meet you.
  9. Holy crapola!! How have I missed this stunning work of Art? What you have done is quite simply amazing. You've got skills Art. Probably some you didn't even realize you had. You've got me thinking brass frames in the future. I'm dialed in and in the front row with my bucket of popcorn. Hope you're planning on coming to DSC10 in April.
  10. I couldn't for the life of me find the parts that came with the resin cab for this truck. I was missing the grill, headlight surrounds, hubcaps, chrome hood emblem, turn signal surrounds and the clear lenses. I have been looking for the small baggie for days. Tore my hobby room apart and searched everywhere. I was really beginning to think I must have thrown it out somehow. Well, I finally found it and now I don't need to shave down the '55 kit hubcaps and I don't need to order through Modelhaus the replacements. Whew. Crisis averted.
  11. Joe - it took me a while to figure out what you were talking about. LOL The aluminum square channel was bent to a flat rendering shape and I just took my time bending them a bit at a time. The tubing doesn't have anything inside except for the bottom where the round tubing was inserted where it met the floor. Unfortunately, I've decided to go a different direction on the construction of the framework and I will not be having the top lift off. I hope to get to this soon. Thanks for your interest.
  12. A bit of bench time in over the weekend and concentrated my time on getting the truck to sit on all fours. I went through most of my kit boxes to source some steelies and was finally able to find some. The tires I'm showing here aren't necessarily the ones I'll be using but they're the best I have so far. Steelies got painted and I need to trim down the full hubcaps to the dog dish style and thin them down so they'll look right. Here's a few pictures. I've got my request in for some larger printing plate for the camper portion so I'll be working on the framework for it. Glad to be back to work on this. Comments welcome.
  13. That, my friend, is some top notch scratch building right there. I don't care who you are, that's awesome to the twelfth power. Guess I best get to finishing those decals.
  14. Danno - tell them about DSC11 being a featured event in MCM. Go ahead, tell them. I'm sure they'll all want to hear about it.
  15. Wow...I can't believe its been a year since the last post on this thread. With Desert Scale Classic coming up, I really need to get something completed. I've decided this one of all of the incomplete builds I have in progress will get my time and attention. I've contact a friend to source some clean printing plate for the shell and while I'm waiting on that, I'll get the cab painted. I'm still unsure about the tires. I've not found the exact ones but have the MasterCaster making me some that I hope will be the best form the three different styles I have so far. So its time to dust this one off and get back to work. Your patience has been appreciated because I've been a slacker.
  16. Love your stuff Mark. Hopefully you'll get back to the Jewel T soon.
  17. Epic awesomeness brother. I think you should post a disclaimer before viewing each update so viewers are forewarned to have their medications up to date and to be sitting down. Glad you OK Joe and I look forward to your visit.
  18. Great work Chris. Love your solution to changing the end shape of the clutch can. Amazed....still...and ongoing.
  19. I've been on board for this since the first posting and look forward to each new update. One thing I think would help the 'believability' of this dio is to get a few different colors of red spray paint. Every red item is the same color.
  20. Excellent update brother. Glad to see you got some much needed bench time in.
  21. Not to worry Chris my brother, we're in it for the long haul just like you. Keep after it.
  22. Man that is so nice. Like that you took out the electrical feed to the lift. Seemed out of place to me and was a bit distracting. Carry on mate.
  23. Ok, axle is back on and the new brake lines are done. No picture as I just finished before heading to work this morning. Now on to mounting the front axle and making the radius rods.
  24. I didn't make the thin trim ring, that's what I cut off.
