Scale model inaccuracies
jaydar replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My Revell 1958 Pro Modeler Corvette has tons of detail, like an alternator bracket and such. None of my newer kits Revell or otherwise have that same level of detail. Therefore, we know they have the ability to deliver accurate detail and we can assume they consciously determine not to do it. Why not? I will pay for it. The amount i pay for the kits from Japan areare many times that which i oay for my Revell kits which with FEW exceptions is all i buy for American muscle cars. -
Man, I really like the look of that car. Great set up. Looks fast. Joe.

Monster build! Be proud. Joe.

TaiZhou TongXin Toy Co. The kit is enroute to me now. Should know for sure by Monday. Joe

I had not thought that far ahead. I am still leaning towards the darker maroon Ferrari color. In which case i think white primer will be fine. Corso Rossa might require the pink. Ehat color are you planning? Joe.

That would be beautiful, IF the background remained clean. However, it will be "cluttered" with the other sponsors logos. joe.

Pretty good. It is a first kit. Model building is a lot harder when they have to turn out shiny with a mile deep gloss. Take it from a guy who build airplanes and sprayed them flat after decals. That final clear coat never got a second thought. and Dust was CHARACTER...... don't over complicate this for him. it has to be fun.

uh, we rather expected you built quite a few!!!!

chevy engine block for chaparral

What Chaparral kit are you using? -
I think they went to Williams because of Massa. I am a Ferrari fan and I am going to bet they will regret letting him go. I just dont see the chemistry between Alonso and Kimi being.....healthy Joe.

I checked the sprues of my kit to the extent i could do so without opening the bags. All present and accounted for, including the spindles. Thanks again for the heads up. Joe.

Beautiful paint job(s)!

Going to check in the morning!!!! Thank you for the heads up. Joe.

1/8 Jaguar E-type to be reissued!

Well I think you have greatly overestimated my scratch building skills! Joe. -
Good advise, thanks. Joe.

My favorite has to be one that Tim Boyd built for a magazine article. It featured a 66 or 67 GTO up on rails. Absolutely inspring. I have read the article several times and think i can follow (with the exception of the exquisite paint job) however i would have to buyat least 6 kits to get all the parts needed! It will be a while before all the pieces are in house to start the build. Joe.

4 ounces it is! Thanks Brett. Joe.
