  1. Nice photos, thanks for sharing.
  2. They are no longer NAMELESS! Seriously though, I had to look up the definition of Luminaries. These are the best definitions I could find that would apply. lu·mi·nary noun \ˈlü-mə-ˌner-ē\ : a very famous or successful person : a person of prominence or brilliant achievement Thanks for starting this thread, interesting subject.
  3. Thanks Greg, I appriciate your support. After all aren't we just having friendly conversation here? I like all car magazines and Hot Rod has been one of them. Now we are back to relevant and I am done here.
  4. Looks good Tulio, can't wait to see the finished result.
  5. Sweet! Not an easy color to do, love it!
  6. It looks just right. I like the top up look also, did the top come in the kit?
  7. What makes the difference? It is The Off Topic Lounge! Anyway they are both magazines, which makes them somewhat relevant. Who cares besides you? Sorry if I offended anyone else. Maybe I should just stick to discussions about models. Oh sorry, I guess this is General, My Mistake.
  8. I recently subscribed to Street Rodder and recived my whole year subscription within the next 30 days I think. Some days there were two in the mailbox. That must be how they get rid of leftover issues and maybe why they date them months ahead. I got March issue in December. So much for bargins.
  9. Nice story David and great reading on this wonderful morning. Thanks for sharing. I am currently working on a 20 year long project so I can relate somewhat. When we have a passion to get something right that is often the price we pay.
  10. I remember your paint rack in the other mag, so you are the guy! I made a small attempt at building a copy. Mine didn't turn out so well, I had too many after thoughts how I could have done it better. I should have followed yours to the letter. Your shelfs are looking good with the models on them, nice collection. My only thought about you putting doors on your unit was that you would have to open them every time you want to turn the light off and on. Now I'm thinking you would have to let the cat in and out also. I keep looking back at that '40 Ford, is that the Skid Marks car that was in MCM a while back? I think that was what it was called. You are a talented guy, I like your stuff.
  11. Good one! Remember when all the AMT models were in the same generic box and you had to look at the sticker on the end to see what the model was? I wonder if this company did that to save printing cost maybe? Hard telling what was originally in the box. No, never mind it is a Ford and claims to be a Chevy???? Instead of friction toy it should say fiction toy.
  12. From what I am reading here I think Hot Rod magazine is mainly aimed at the younger crowd. It may be a go-to mag. for how to hop up your decade old to new car. It was my favorite Magazine from the time I was about 8 until maybe 35. I think that's about when Rod and Custom came back and I switched over to it. It was more of a custom car mag. back in the day and became more of a mix with more hot rods from my era. Yes, I loved it when older guys called me Hot Rod back when I was young. Now there are so many publications it makes it hard to choose. I would pick any of them up off the coffee table to read. I wish there were more on the table when you have to wait at Dr,s office, dentist, or any other place of business with a waiting area. All I seem to see is PEOPLE, Sports Illustrated, or maybe Motor Trend if you are lucky. I would be in shock if I ever saw MCM on a table anywhere, I have never seen it on a newsstand even. But I do like the fact that there is not excessive advertising in it and most of the ads are model related.
  13. NEAT is he first word that came to my head. Nice stance and love the color combo.
  14. It's called LOVE! I like to watch my wife read sometimes. I have acquired a lot of pencil drawings of her reading.

    32 ford

It looks like Testors Turn Signal Amber to me, I tried that once on a custom pickup. It matches the wires too, Kind of hard to tell the true color in a photo though. I really like the interior, what did you use on it? Nice job Carmin and beautiful paint job.
  16. LDO, on 29 Jan 2014 - 12:53 PM, said: " Guys who built hot rods back in the '50s and '60s didn't shoot for the retro "grampa built it that way" look......HRM is changing with the times." I agree but, I am Grandpa now.
  17. They keep suckering me in with 79 cents a copy subscriptions including free hat or clock. Mostly advertising inside. Once in a while they dig some new stuff out of the archives never published before, which I love. I remember going to the public library as a kid and looking at Hot Rod and Rod and Custom. I couldn't even afford it then at 10 cent copy price. That is where I probably got my first look at cool cars.
  18. I wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for models!
  19. Nice looking truck.
  20. This kind of police car I like! Nicely done, makes me want to watch the movie again reading all these great lines.
  21. Welcome Aiden.
  22. If I am getting this right, whenever you post pictures directly from your PC to here without using a host sight like Photobucket or Fotki, you will quickly use up your alloted space. To continue loading pictures from your PC you would first be required to delete pictures already in your gallery found under your profile settings. This in turn would delete these photos from where you had them posted on the forum threads. Is that correct? I think I will stick to copying my photos from Photobucket, even though it seems like an extra step it is nice to have a free host. Photobucket must be under the assumtion that some of us will order prints. I guess it is possible to order prints from someone else's Photobucket, if you wanted. I think you can copy images to your own PC from their albums. Crazy world we live in!
  23. When I first came here in 2011, I posted pictures direct from my PC. I liked it but, soon after it quit working. Guess I used up my space. Ever since then I have been using Photobucket free of charge. They changed their process once and I along with my photos were lost for a while. I agree it would be easier to copy photos direct from your PC if there is a way.
  24. Thanks for posting this Bill. I read his book years ago and this brought it back to life for me once again. Visit his museum in Ocala, Fl. if you haven't already it is very worth while for any car guy. I have been a fan of his since seeing him race at the local drags back in the '60s. I love his message to kids and on his car "God is Love".
  25. Thanks for the link,
