  1. Thanks Curtis, I use the Testors also, I was just curious.
  2. Great story Skip. I'll have to admit, '65 was my favorite year for the GTO but, the Beetle would have been my pick of the two and still would be today. I think I had more fun in my '67 Beetle after High School than any other car I've ever owned. The girls seemed to like it too and I could actually afford to drive it anytime, anywhere. It even made a few passes at the local drag strip. The rubber mats on the floor were great too for easy cleaning after party night. Bucket seats, 4 on the floor, 8-track, yeah I'm that old. lol Lots of good memories!
  3. Great idea! Just wondering what you use to get your lens to stay in and not ruin the BMF?
  4. Thanks for the great stories guys, keep them coming! Tom, the one about your Dad is my favorite. He should have received the "Father of The Year" award. And it was a two-door, cool!
  5. This is another side of you Tulio that I didn't know about, I love it! Thanks for sharing.
  6. The paint is flawless as usual Tulio, as so with the foil work, I too love the metal axles and screws. Those cars were always fun to play with after they were built (and still are). I can't believe how bone stock this one is and I love it. May have to pick one up even though I'm not a Buick fan it looks like a fun build. I always enjoy seeing your finished work..... ( I always thought Buick was an old man's car, wait a minute, I'm an old man now! lol I did have a new Buick Opel once and after driving it a week I gave it to my Mom. She was a hip old lady with racing stripes and ralley lights)
  7. I like it. The '66 Nova was also a bit of a misfit for me twice. Seems to have a fit issue with the hood, I agree. Still, I would love to build one more like yours. I remember the Grump more for this car then for any other. The only thing I would do is maybe put a bit of a wash on the grill, engine and wheels. Other than that it looks perfect to me.
  8. Lee, for the body color I used Dupli-Color Indigo Met (39 WA9792), close to Navy Blue. The interior is a custom mix from Testors enamel. I wish I would have two-toned the seats like the actual car, I didn't think of this until I found the photo of my car after the fact. I painted it over a year ago and maybe even two years ago. Here's another picture of it at the body shop. Most of those cars are finished now. The '55 in the garage, also one of my former rides, still needs finished and one of the '50 Chevy pickups. Thanks again for all comments.
  9. Very nice, love the colors and the wheels.
  10. This is truly awesome! A museum piece. I have enjoyed every bit of the progress on this project from the beginning. The music and video are the icing on the cake. Congratulations on a masterpiece Richard, I love every aspect of your work.
  11. To tell the truth my Chevelle wasn't much of a "chick magnet" for me either. I only had one girlfriend in High School and I gave up on her. She was out having all the fun while I was working after school to pay for things. Life lessons. Things got better for me after I got my VW Beetle. Thanks for the continued stories from everyone else also.
  12. It looks better every time I visit your post. I just finally finished up my '65 Chevelle and put it Under Glass. I appreciate all the detail on yours after building the kit myself. I just wanted to get it done after well over a year, too long and too many on the bench. It would have been so much easier if they would have just given us the more common sbc version with Z-16 extra parts.
  13. Thanks for the great comments and sharing some of your own stories. I assure you I would not have owned a car in High School if my Dad would have still been alive, he made that very clear when he asked me what I was going to do with my paper route money. My mom was pretty easy to convince after his tragic passing in 1965. I missed a lot by having a car, looking backword. I had to work 4 hrs. a night and on week ends flipping burgers to pay for gas and insurance. Missed out on a lot of after school fun. Plus the traffic school I had to attend, traffic fines and other misbehavior. Should have listened to my Dad. It was fun building the model, my next ride will be a 1967 VW Beetle I got after High Scool, stay tuned.
  14. Thanks Andre.
  15. More Photos
  16. I saved my pennies and I saved my dimes, while delivering a paper route four years from the time I was 12, and this is what I wound up with in my Junior and Senior years of High School, October of 1966 thru 1968. I found it a little difficult to make the conversion from the Z-16 kit. Wish I had the photo etch kit with emblems, maybe later. Mine was the 327 300 HP version with 4 speed. I lost count of the speeding tickets. lol I enjoy building past rides. This was my second car after the short lived '55 Chevy I rebuilt when I was 15. Hope you enjoy and as always, thanks for looking.
  17. Very nice, looks like she could get in it and drive it. Love the photo.
  18. I'm finding a cure. By taking pictures from year to year of my unfinished work I am starting to realize how long I have had this sickness. Now I am whittling away at them one by one, just since the end of last year, and finding that if I get over trying to perfect the impossible I can actually finish some, and it feels good! When I started most of them my skills weren't so great anyway, and still aren't for that matter. It just feels good to call them finished and move on! I've gone from 11 unfinished to three so far. "Make a Goal", that's my motto. "Just know when to lay the paintbrush down and call it finished" is another.
  19. Welcome Mike, I love your Indian Motorcycle.
  20. You have a very nice looking El Camino Yuriy.
  21. Yuriy, you did a wonderful job on this model. It is one of the best I have seen of a 1950 Oldsmobile factory fresh. I love the colors you have chosen and the pictures are beautiful. Welcome once again to the forum.
  22. Beautiful job, love the paint. The engine looks very nice in body color also. Great looking custom.
  23. Welcome Mike, nice stash for sure!
  24. Welcome!
