I hear ya! Nothing like working from home. Al least that's what I do.
-
Is it my imagination, or has it been awfully quiet around here for the last few days?
-
That works! Must have had an old like or something. Thanks,
-
Tim, I tried to go to www.truckmodeler.com yesterday, and all I saw was an alert saying that it was the future home of plasticcowboy.com. Do I have the correct Website?
-
Dan, That would be cool. Probably beyond my abilities, but I'd give it a try. What the heck! Would make the truck easier to place in a diorama.
-
Anthony, Sorry. I didn't mean to add fuel to the fire. Please acept my apology.
-
Anthony, Don't hold back. Tell 'em how you real feel.

What I am working on UPDATE!
Jim B replied to mackinac359's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Tim, Excellent build, as usual. Are the sleeper extenders part of the kit or are they scratched? Also, if you were to scratch build them, what size sheet plastic would you use? -
Scott, Thanks. Wish me luck. The Astro frame is about 1/8" narrower than the General frame. Not sure how this will work out. If I get to work (and look nice) I'll post some WIP photos.
-
The Astro is a dual drive Hendrickson. I'm building one right now.
-
I noticed that the GMC Astro was listed in the Dual Drive section of the original post. I want to swap the spring suspension on the Astro with the air-bag setup on the General. Was the air-bag suspension offered on the Astro? I've seen pictures of the spring suspension on the General, but not the other way around. Seems like the Astro frame is narrower than the General frame, too.

Bummer about the hood pin. Easy fix? -

Tony, Nice looking trucks. I especially like the Volvo. -
Kenworth Needlenose flatbedtruck W.I.P.
Jim B replied to Twist67's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
What "model" is the KW Needlenose? Is it a W900, or is it too early? Peterbilt had a needlenose, too, if I remember correctly. -
Oh, you're hysterical! Go to sleep!

What's a Henway?
-
Matt, No problem. All answers are welcome. I might be purchasing a couple of AMT KW925 kits, and I'd like to make one a W925 instead of the W923 that the kit is. Do you still have those KW torson bar suspensions for sale?
-
Matt, That's basically the problem. One pass with the spray can, and gone. I don't have the technology to make the decals, but I know someone who does. Dan should be making them for me next week sometime. Not a big rush. If I know they are getting done, I push on with the project and add the logos later. Once I get a photo of the logo, I'll let you knwo what they look like.
-
I forgot to ask you how you did the logos on your Fords, other that you have infinite more skill than me.
-
The answers were ok. Ben was helpful. I got an email from Danny Poulin this morning. I believe he will be trying to create a logo decal. Might have something be the end of next week.

I am working on my Ford LN8000 Short Hauler, and I have a problem. The "Ford" logo on the side of the hood completely disapeared after a couple of light passes with the Testors Gloss Yellow. Gone. Compleately filled in. Has anyone else experienced this? How can I repair this? Do I have to comletely strip the hood & start again? Is there a decal that someone has made that I can out on? Would probably look better than my drybrushing anyway. What about photoetch? Help! Jim

Looking for parts
Jim B replied to Modelcollector's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Know where to find one? Yes. Affordable? Well, that's debatable. Define: "affordable". Here are a couple I found on ebay that were't too bad (ok,the last one's a little pricy): http://cgi.ebay.com/1-25-international-tra...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/1-25-International-Tra...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/International-Transtar...1QQcmdZViewItem -
New Truck Kits
Jim B replied to kwtrucker's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Dave, Hey, it couldn't hurt. We'd probably get more accurate kits, better response time, and better customer service! The after market guys tend to be a little price compared to new plastic kits, and I understand the reasons for that. Let's face it, those KFS conversion kits are NOT cheap, but they sure look nice. Don't think I can convince The Wife that I need one though. -
New Truck Kits
Jim B replied to kwtrucker's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Chassis only kits? Now there's an idea! I know Americal Industrial Truck Models ( http://www.aitruckmodels.com/ ) offers an 11-1/2" frame ( http://www.aitruckmodels.com/pages/kt9frame.html ) & a 12" frame ( http://www.aitruckmodels.com/pages/kt10frame.html ), but I don't know what they're like, and it looks like you only get the frame. Axles, fuel tanks, wheels, tires, etc. are extra. But they're only $8. -
