The Chinese bought the car business from Ford a while back but I'm pretty sure the truck side is still Swedish owned.

LNT 8000 Mixer
jeffbrad replied to guitarsam326's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Sweet with that Detroit. My brother in law worked for ready mix operation in Ohio in the 80's and they had a bunch of those Fords with the 3208T Cats. They were rolling roadblocks! -
There was an old farmer that used to run a Hudson Jet at Dragway 42 in Ohio back in the early 70's. Had a twin H 308 with a T10 four speed and it flew. Think he ran H Gas

Plymouth 273 Engine Source
jeffbrad replied to jjsipes's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The Lindberg Little Red Wagon has a stock building option and the engine is a 273 with all the right accessories for a 65 Barracuda. Plain valve covers, 2 barrel carb.,etc. Revell Dart is probably best from detail standpoint but you'll probably have to tweak it some. -
Thanks guys. Much appreciated. Think I'll go with the REO due to availability but I really dig those 9500s. Always liked the looks of the long hood versions.

I've got a AMT Texaco trailer and need to know which of the AMT tractors would be correct to pair it with. Anybody know what kind of tractors they ran back in the 70's?

Paint looks good. Just aren't going to get smooth enough with rattle cans. I've done a few over the years that did not need color sanded but they were done with an airbrush. -
Blue wires were made by Moroso.

World's largest diesel engine
jeffbrad replied to Tesla's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wartsilla Sulzer is the company that makes these. I think they are in Finland. They have a great website, lots of pics and info. The big one has like a 3 foot bore and 11 foot stroke! redline is 105 rpm. That crank in the picture weighs over 300 tons -
I worked for a private fleet in the 80's and we gave our NYC freight to APA. Went to the N Bergen terminal all the time. Hell of an operation. I always thought if they hadn't done that western expansion they would've been ok. One of our guys was at the N Bergen terminal one time and this big chauffeur driven Cadillac pulled up in front of his truck. This guy gets out and comes up to his truck. It was the owner of APA and he wanted to be sure his guys were taking care of his customers

Floquil mud is great for that also if you can find it.

Jesse read Marcos Cruz's tutorial on panel lines. His technique is the best I've seen. Works wonderfully. I make a wash of black enamel and mineral spirits for detail washing. for weathering wash acrylics work good because you can control the finish by what you cut the paint with. for a greasy look use Future to cut the paint, for very dull blotchy effect use alcohol.

Would be cool if they do the Poly 318. I'm not aware of one ever being kitted. All the other engines are readily available if a swap is desired

was Japanese law back then. that was where they required the mirrors to be

that 1/12 kit was not that hot either
