  1. Good to see you on here Drew. Always enjoyed your work in SAE
  2. Yeah Americarna. Ray Evernham did it at his shop
  3. I believe it's what's called modified enamel but behaves like lacquer so far as dry times, etc. I usually clear my builds because it's safer when polishing to polish clear.
  4. I agree with Erik. Duplicolor stuff is great, dries fairly quick, and polishes out great
  5. Should've had the 4.9/300 ci straight six,no? Once the Moebius kits come out you'll have the right engine available.
  6. What paint did you use on the top?
  7. Anybody have a match for the yellow/tan/cream that Florida uses for their cruisers? If so did they use the same color on the 90's Mustangs as they use on the current Chargers? Thanks
  8. Aldi stores usually have dehydrators in their special buy sections around this time of year. Last year they were 19.99. Work great
  9. What is the match for the yellow/tan on the FHP cars? And is it the same color for the 90s Mustangs as for the Chargers?
  10. Here's my Pete hooked to a log trailer. For 20 bucks or so you just cannot beat those Revell kits. Nice job on the KW
  11. Tommy, did you polish the foil? Any decent cleaner wax or polish will remove the tarnish and really make that foil shine.
  12. I'm not sure exactly when but Cummins didn't start using turbos until late 60's and they didn't really take off until the early 70's. That truck would have had either a 220 or 250 without a turbo. Then again retrofits sure were popular on the older trucks once they became available
  13. Welcome. I grew up in Barberton, lived in Akron for 30 yrs. Moved to Fla 2 yrs ago. At least you have a hobby shop close to you in Cuy Falls. Actually there were 2 but I don't know if the one on Portage Trail is still open. I was just in the Whistle Stop last month when I was home to visit.
  14. Boy that picture brings back memories.Sure looks like Dragway 42 in W.Salem Oh. Arlen Vanke was the MAN in NE Ohio back in those days. A local guy in Barberton where I grew up ended up with one of Arlen's 63 Savoy Max Wedge cars. Drove it on the street. Not much but he did it. Had to go to the Akron airport to get avgas. As for a chassis, how about the Lindberg 67 442 for a donor?
  15. Flat black weathered with slight grayish/brown cast. Look at radiator hoses on your 1:1. that's the look to shoot for.
  16. What shops in NE Ohio guys? Whistle Stop in Cuyahoga Falls and Parma Hobby are the only 2 I can think of.Best ever was Kittle's in Barberton but he closed years ago
  17. I'm in Kissimmee also. Far east side off Partin Settlement- Neptune Rd area. Two of us here. I build cars and trucks and my next door neighbor does ships and planes
  18. John I met Ron at a LHS in Barberton back in the 90's. He could not have been nicer to talk to and his work was amazing. I did not know he had passed. Sorry to hear it. I also met Clint Freeman there once. Is he still active?
  19. I agree about the coverage. Wish they'd show at least the finals in superstock, stock, etc. All the gas burners always seem to fly at Maple Grove. Someone told me once that the air is good there because of all the forests in the area
  20. 61 Ventura ? Awesome! Hope it has the 8 lug wheels
  21. Those inline sixes used in the Chris Crafts were made by Hercules in Ohio
  22. I do the color sand with 2000 wet then polish with Meguiar's 3. I use automotive paints and that works for me. The polishing kits work great on the softer enamels. Finish wax with Treatment or any carnauba wax
  23. I just drop a couple bb's in the bottle when I open it for the first time. Works great but don't do like me and put steel bb's in acrylic paint. Unless you want rust colored paint that is
