Project Burned Rice *FINISHED!* April 24 Addition
Mr. Can Am Garage replied to Mr. Can Am Garage's topic in WIP: Model Cars
You guys aren't the only one who thought it was nice. I got this yesterday at my local contest. Translated it reads, 13th Modelestrie 2006. 2nd place Sport Compact. BTW, this is the first time I've ever placed at my local contest. I just gotta figure out who Jackson bribed so I could bring the award home. -

You know, during a weak moment I might agree with you Bob BUT I bought this kit because of the decals so I'm using them. Finished pics for tonight. -

The interior is finished. Looks finished, doesn't it? I just couldn't resist using the kit provided decals. -

I promised an update later today and here it is. Still working on detailing the speakers. Got at least one more colour to go on them. The rest of the interior looks good enough to me. This is take 2 on the tailights. I had originally coloured them with Sharpies and they looked just fine till I hit the back of the lenses with silver paint. It bled right through the Sharpies so off it came. It's all paint now. Live and learn. -

Not to worry Mike. Everyone does something stupid from time to time. Welcome to the human race! -
Seeing as I'm fresh out of Bare Metal Foil, that means no muscle cars till I get some so it's time for a tuner car basically because most modern cars have little or no chrome trim. Revell's '99 Mitsubishi Eclipse full glue kit in comparison to their metal body kit of the same car. The main body colour is DupliColor Metallic Charcoal. I've been working on it for about a week now just been too busy to show you what I've been doing. The accent colour is DupliColor Ford CD Silver Metallic which happens to be the same colour as what's on my 1:1 Focus. If you think the tail lights look good here, just wait until you see them now. This has changed drastically since this photo was taken. I decided it need a bit more colour so I've added some blue accents in a few spots. Tamiya German Grey paint works pretty good as glue for the medium grey flocking. The mechanics are complete. AWD at that! The lighter colour is Tamiya Flat Aluminium, the darker colour is their Metallic Grey. Still got two more colours to add to the interior. Should have more tonight.

I used to know what colour Mack painted it's own engines but you could go with several colours for stock engines. Example: Cummins tends to be a sand colour. Detroits can be either light green or silver and this is a very rough list. The chassis cab be any colour you want Billy. A DM800 is overkill for a car transporter but go for it! It's YOUR model afterall.

Thanks! I'd agree more so about the chrome. I didn't have much of a problem with the headlights but the chrome is less than perfect. -
AMT' 67 Impala question
Mr. Can Am Garage replied to Mr. Can Am Garage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for the input Larry. Guess that means I have one option - Find a stock version of the kit which I've already done. Haven't bid on it yet but I have found one. -

Revell's New Mini painted with Testors British Racing Green and Tamiya Sprays Gloss white. Check out what's on the front of the side view mirrors. The flags are 1:1 automotive grade vinyl made by the fine folks at Flamin Frog. http://www.flaminfrog.com/models.htm For considerably less than $5, I've got enough to do two cars. -

Wow! Whom do I give the money to buy one of these? Sure looks much better than the stock. -
Much better Bob. The hood scoop now says "Look at me" versus "LOOK AT ME!".

Mike, I love this series of articles. Please continue. -
Holy shoot! I love it! The hood scoop is too high but then again, it's too high on the WRX too so who cares. Neat concept Bob!
-
Nice job Bob! Never knew a kit of that car existed.

I'm pushing this New Mini through a quick build. This time yesterday, it was nothing more than a painted body and lots of unassembled and unpainted parts. Why am I calling this build Oh Canada? Because this is going on the roof and the front sides of the side view mirrors. They're made of the same stuff as the graphics on 1:1 cars (automotive grade vinyl) and cost me all of $3.95US including shipping for enough to do two cars.
