  1. Last Model of the year. I finished it with hour to spare. Revell 66 El Camino with SS hood, from the Revell 66 Chevelle station wagon & rally wheels, from the Revell 69 Z-28. Testors Model Master Burgundy Red Metallic which came out more brown than red but I like the color Rear view. I dry brushed the tailgate letters. I dry brushed the El Camino emblems, on the 1/4 panels & the 396 emblems, on the front fenders. Engine compartment Right before it went into my display case
  2. That's a tough build for a 3rd model, back into the hobby, & you pulled it off, with great results. I've been back 5 years and have that kit, in my stash, & I don't even want to tackle it. You did the right thing, you just built it! It's a build to be proud of.
  3. Good luck with yours. Yes, the hood is from the wagon kit. I'm a huge fan of rally wheels, too. I ran them on all my Chevys, back in the day. I'm pretty sure they came out of the Revell 69 Z-28 Camaro. I painted Testors steel, between the hub caps & beauty rings & black washed the ribs on the hub caps. Thanks for the rest of the comments. I love the color, too. I was sure I shot a 36 Ford, in the same color, & it came out maroon. Of course, that was over 20 years ago, so maybe my memory is a bit foggy. I got some work, on it, tonight, & I have tomorrow off, so I have a good feeling about getting it done, before the clock strikes 12.
  4. I started this one a few years ago. I broke it out, so I could get one more finished for 2013. I had already painted the body Model Master Burgundy Red Metallic but it was more brown than red I did have to paint the engine compartment & under the hood, though Interior, painted & flocked Dash with decals Engine & distributor Chassis Assembled Chassis I've got a couple more days, to finish it, but I think I can pull it off
  5. Sorry to hear about your father, Bill. I lost my dad, the end of October. It's tuff, as you know. I've been building, as therapy. Tell me more about the magnifiers, you have on your glasses. They look like just what I need. Holding stuff under my magnifying light is a pain & sometimes not very practical.
  6. Yes, a 56 sedan delivery has jr. stock written all over it.

    67 Charger

Thanks. I said the Cragars were a wheel swap, but they are the optional wheels, in the kit. Thanks for the rest of the comments, that I didn't quote.

    67 Charger

I wish I knew who. I asked the dog & he just cocked his head. I even cleaned my hobby room but they were MIA. If they turn up, I will install them. It does have a rear view mirror, though.

    69 Camaro

Awesome build. The Alclad work is fantastic.
  11. Very clean build. I love the paint.
  12. All that work, paid off. Excellent job.
  13. With all that snow, I'd put the top up & turn on the heater. Great work! It really captures the car, in the pictures.

    67 Charger

Thanks for all the comments. o-man, it is a driver. It's meant to look like it's been lightly modified & driven a couple years. Rdkingjay, the under carriage is primer gray. Sjordan2, I'd like to say, it's a couple years of sun fading, but I just couldn't get it shine, as much as I'd have liked. It's is shiny, just not show car shiny. I'll do better on the next one. ;-) Partsmarty, It's my first weathering & I may have overdone it, but it is built to represent a coupe years old.

    67 Charger

It's pretty much, out of the box, with just a wheel & tire swap. I just wanted to finish one, so I just did plug wires, flocked the interior, and a light weathering. No wheel tubs, no roll cage, no body mods, etc., that usually stall my projects.
  16. Art, thanks for the pencil tip. Never too old to learn new tricks. I can't wait to give it a try. I hate it when I tear foil, while trying to get it into tight spots. I'll try the tee shirt, too. I usually use Q-Tips, but they tend to leave tiny scratches. Jeff
  17. I shop at both hobby shops & the www. I have a Michael's real close, so I can get glue & craft stuff. I have most of the kits, they carry, so I hardly buy kits there. I have a Hobby People, pretty close. They are well stocked, as models go, but they are lacking in the paint dept. & sheet plastic & the like. Further down the road is a Hobby Town. They have just about every color of Testors enamels & acrylics, plenty of Evergreen & lots of tools. I buy more from those 2 stores than I do from the Internet. I get the instant gratification, of a new kit. I open it, paw through it, & put it on the shelf, with the other 300+ kits. Ironic, when you think about it. LOL Jeff
  18. The Aston Martin is too cool. I hate those multi-part bodies, though. It's a curbside, too. I want one with engine detail! Jeff
  19. Quite an undertaking, to build THIS kit, when you're just getting back "in the game". It took several attempts, for me, until I just did a simple out of the box build. Mine was the Revell chopped Merc. Yours looks great, btw. Jeff
  20. Thanks for all the positive replies, for this portion of the build. Jeff
  21. After seeing it & reading your back story, I applaud your imagination. The build is, also, super sanitary. Great job. Jeff
  22. I assembled the chassis & interior, while waiting for painting weather. Here's some pix. Assembled interior Bottom of interior flocked & foiled interior interior with dash Jeff
  23. What color did you paint the parts, after you did the texture?
  24. Stunning. You have accomplished your goal of the best you can get out of this kit, without too much aftermarket stuff. One of the cleanest builds, I've seen. Detailing & realism at it's best. My hat is off, to you, sir. I too, would like to know, how you made the bare fiberglass pieces, look like fiberglass. Colors, technique, etc. Jeff
  25. It's not a dumb question. Roll cages are made with 1 5/8" tubing. 3/32 works out to 1 1/2" in 1:16. Pretty close for all but the most hard core rivet counter. I usually divide the 1:1 measurement, in inches, by the scale. So in 1:16 scale, divide inches by 16. One & a half inches, divided by 16 is .09375"or 3/32". Jeff
