The car is out of the paint shop.......still needs to set up most of today before I start sanding it out to bring out the base and give it the patina that I am hoping for. I have never done a paint job like this so it should be interesting.... it should bring out the detail that I am looking for,,,some rust and washes and we will see...Greg has the decals all done and will be shipping them this week...I must commend him for the fast turnaround, less than a week :ugeek: great job Greg. -

most of the details are complete and the plumbing is done for now. More to do as it is assembled.steering is now working and the interior parts are ready. Off to the paint shop. I have ordered some custom decals from Greg and he is working on them. You can see the straight pipes on the garage floor in front of the door. -

I am into the build 2 days now although today I didn't do much. (I have about 12 hours into this so far, for those keeping track). Front and rear suspension, fully sprung works nice. the stance is close to final. The interior needs to be started and the front grill needs to be done.......might have it ready for primer Friday if I can get some time in on it. lots of details to do too.there is about 100 photos at the link http://s1282.photobucket.com/user/shutter-bug3/library/1929%20AA%20rat%20rod?sort=3&page=1 -
I digress and take a break from the long term projects that I have going on. Everything I have going is long term and nothing that will be finished this year so I wanted to get something finished and this seems to be a project that I can get done in a short time period. This is 1/16th scale plans to follow. They are very sketchy but It gets me the size and component locations so I can get it built. This is intended to be a fast build. Down and literally dirty. It is entirely scratch build from drawings I made. The inspiration is from Rat Rods magazine issue 19. The car I am taking this after is called "Li'l Monster". I will be making the AA body and custom built square tube chassis. The engine will be a Hemi From the 1973 Petty #43 car with a Mustang rear end. Other parts will be scratch built or begged parts. I hope to find some truck tires for the back and stock tires for the front but not sure if I can. I plan to have this done this week. paint and all. Depends on if I can get the tires I need in time. I may take the time to cast the motor but I am not sure.

This is the start to the Buick body. I have decided it is easier to build an entirely new body than try to rework the Pontiac casting....I would love to have them printed and casting from the print but the creation of the 3D is beyond me,,,,,,,, This series is going to be done sometime in September or October...
