Thank you guys. This is slowly but surely coming together nicely. Here is the body with the paint being cleared, buffed and polished. The decals are from the kit. The dash fitted. Almost there.....
-
Sorry this is coming together so slowly. Couple more hours on day four and the interior is coming together. And the chassis has the drivetrain and the radiator in.

Love it!!!!

I don't have much time for models, so I do a little bit at a time after work. Couple hours here, couple hours there........After a couple of hours on day three..... Engine is almost completely done and the chassis, missing only the rear shocks. stay tuned....

So after day two, here is the score: Frame and drivetrain is painted in very dark blue. It is almost black. The body was assembled, including the fire wall before it was painted. The color was chosen by my wife and it is a Tamiya aircraft color. Then I decided I wanted to add a accent color to the beltline as seen on some trendy 1:1 rods. It actually looks a lot better than on pictures. The reflections are making it look very uneven. The interior frame was also painted Tamiya "bare metal" and the radiator is wearing flat aluminum.

After quite a bit of time off model building, I need something to get me going again. I figured that the now really hard to get '30 Model A from Revell would be perfect for that. So here is the plan: Build the kit box stock. Definitely outside my usual preferences, but much faster and easier. I am building it with the model A frame and the body channeled over it I am going for the NA tri-carb option and it will stay chromed. Wheels will stay chrome too. Stay tuned

One of my cats got hold of the motor and did quite some damage to it, so I have to redo it. Also I was working on the interior and that is where I got stuck. I am not far from the finish and I definitely have to update the topic with some fresh pictures.
-
Very nice! I will definitely follow this one up.

Lowriders are not my cup o'tea, but I always appreciated the craftsmanship that goes into building one - both in scale and in real life too.

Some engine details starting to take shape.

Thank you Kerry. A small update on the rear suspension... This is the set up I want to go with. Of course there would be needed two more rods on top of the diff to triangulate the rear, which in its turn would necessitate an extra crossmember on the frame.

Sweet!!! I love everything about it. It captures "Hot Rod" very well. The color totally makes it IMO.

Now the million dollar question - When are these hitting the shelves? Looks like the Foose would be the first one out. -
Now that you mentioned it I see it. The interior color should be complimenting it very well.

After quite the break from this project, let's revive the topic....... I started working on the interior, by first gluing the dash to interior tub and then basically gutting it out. Next I made new side panels from thin sheet styrene and then cut them to represent the resized doors. This will give me pretty much a clean sheet to create whatever style side panels I like. I will be going for a very plain, clean, traditional yet modern look. Thanks for looking and stay tuned....

I like that interior. What is going to be the body color?

I really have hard time wrapping my head around some comments on this and other forums. No matter the subject matter, be it the vehicle represented, the scale or medium (diecast finished/plastic kit), to me personally, it would always make more sense to release something new, than to keep releasing something done many times before through the years. I'm not going to discuss whether Foose has taste or if his creations are top quality. Until I have achieved what Chip has, I don't consider myself in the right to judge his work. But I can take a neutral look at the alternative betwen releasing (yet another) stock F-100 or the Foose one, while trying to put myself in Revell's shoes. Aside from buying the kit to build as shown on the box art, how many would buy the stock one, just for its engine vs. the Foose. How many kits will be sold just for the wheels in the Foose kit vs. people buying the stock one just for a set of wheels, etc., etc.. I think it is easilly understandable, why the Foose would be considered the more profitable option. Now add to that the popularity of the Foose brand and the "new blood" this kit will attract and the choice becomes a no-brainer. -

That Foose truck........... I'm getting few for sure. -
All the holes and tabs at the rear of the body we filled The hoods had to be scratchbuilt from different pieces and scrap Things are starting to take shape Hopefully primer is coming soon. Thanks for looking and stay tuned....
-
Some small details are starting to take shape... The side hoods supports were made from styrene strips that were drilled Then some extra support brackets were cut and drilled And some radiator supports were fashioned the same way.
-
And back to the model....... Next in line was the rear axle. First the brackets for the rear radius rods were drilled The rear cover of the diff was fashioned from one of the biggest headlights from the '30 kit, after it was dechromed. I want something simple and clean, but definitely custom, so I added some thin round strips styrene. Later on everything will be filled and smoothed.

Richard, my avatar is just a part of "my emblem", which got cut up automatically by the site. The part you see is a Lion wearing a crown, standing on his rear legs. I am a Bulgarian and this the coat of arms of Bulgaria. In this case I made an emblem mocking the Ferrari one, but instead of a horse it has the lion, instead of the green-white-red (for the italian flag) on top it has white-green-red, which is the Bulgarian flag and on the bottom has my initials. It started as a joke, but eventually was made by a local shop in to a real emblem, which ended up on the nose of my car. It makes a lot of people scratch their heads and some the conversations I have seen it starting were quite....uumm...amusing.

Very nice. I have yet to make anything with a flathead in it.

I always wanted to do one of these, but never did. Looks like you are off to a good start.
