Very nice and super clean. I see one major problem tho. No Trabant came out of the factory with such nice of a paint job. LOL. I grew up with these things around me. When we were kids we used to play by taking small diameter pipes and making guns out of them. We used to cut thin strips of glossy paper and make thin and long funnels out of them (bullets), which we then blew through the pipes. Those things flew fast and really far away. Anyway….. One day in the summer we were sitting at the edge of the park in front of one of the kids building and there was this Trabant parked in front of it in the $hittiest of ochre colors. Being kids, doing kids stuff, we were picking whatever little fruit it was from the bushes behind us, which looked like tiny little balls and were shooting them through our pipes. One hit the Trabant and left I nice red splatter on it, pretty much like a paintball. We thought it was the coolest thing, so we shot up that Trabby 'till the whole side was mostly red. Oh boy, were we in trouble after that! Apparently it had such bad finish, that the juice from the little fruit soaked into it and it could not be washed off. The owner had to repaint it and our parents paid for it. I was grounded for a month and so were most of the kids that participated. These cars were total POS. I think you are building the best made Trabant ever!

The part I really don't understand is the whole thinking behind this build. I was not trying to be a smart ass or put the OP's work down. But we have a modeler, who has spent a good $50 on a model, another $15 on two spray cans and then ran everything through an airbrush to have the wrong color on without much success (hence the thread title). While all this could be totally avoided by buying a $7 bottle of paint, which would have been a perfect color match, would have been ready for clear in about an hour and would have taken pretty much any clear you can throw at it. If the OP was someone on a tight budget, that does not have an airbrush and experience and is trying to get the job done with spray cans, which the OP clearly is not, I would get it. But he claims to be a "perfectionist", who apparently does not take any critique lightly, who does not understand that part of "the technique" is using the right materials/tools. So, again, with nothing but the best feelings towards the OP - save yourself the headache and buy yourself the right paint, airbrush it and let us admire your nice clean work, which you are obviously capable of. -

I am sorry for the critique, but this is no azuro thetis, so I would just get the right color and respray it anyway. Also I have never seen a Lambo with the dash cut this way by two colors. -

That's very cool. It is one of those color combinations that "should not" work in theory, but when you see them they actually pull together.

Great build. Love all the metal grommets on the seats. If you don't mind me asking, what gold did you use on the wheels?

So I painted the roof dark blue, which was my initial idea. Did not like the look, so I striped it. While that was going on, I put together the chassis. This whole kit got started being built, just because I wanted to see how that suspension was going to go together. Then it kind of grew into a little bit more involving build. So I am keeping it fairly simple. Not going crazy on the details. The wheels ant tires are from the Revell '32 Roadster. They are very similar to the ones that originally come in the T-Touring kit, but the fronts are slightly smaller diameter and the rears are slightly bigger. This way the rear fenders get filled out better without any modification to the rear suspension and the front gets in the roots by just dropping the spindles slightly. Now if only Revell could give us this type of front and rear suspension on a '32 or '34 frame……….. You can't really tell from the pictures, but the front spindles were modified and Detail Master brake discs with scratch built calipers were fitted. This was the part I was most interested in... This is as low as it can sit at the front without being unrealistic. Next step would be the fenders sitting straight on top of the tires. I just can't get enough of that rear end

Some small updates…. The first color (Blue Angels Blue) was sprayed on the interior. Next I wanted to give some attitude to the rear end, while still keeping things simple. So I casted a quick change diff from white metal, drilled it and put an aluminum tube through it with the modified ends from and original Revell '32 rear end. I think it looks pretty cool. The bags were sanded down, 'till the rear was sitting just where I wanted it. I am happy with the stance now. Thanks for looking and stay tuned….

Seeing couple of friends, playing with my kids, doing homework with them, working on few models, trying to bring order to my model room, reading posts on here, playing with my wife's boobs and watching a movie with a drink in my hand before going to bed. Or in short, not making a big deal out of a blurry picture.

I love these threads every time a new kit is about to come out. Pure entertainment….. So, bunch of grown men are bickering over a simple mistake. Pitchforks are raised and fingers are pointed at whose fault the mistake is, how it could have been prevented. In return bunch of apologetic comments are made in defense of the mistake, dismissing it as insignificant. And all this before anyone knows IF THERE ACTUALLY IS A MISTAKE AT ALL???!?!?!?!!!!! All this begs the question: You really have nothing better to do?

Thank you Tom. The idea was born kind of by accident. I made the roof and originally its front edge mated to the windshield's edge. But I did not like it and wanted to make it more aggressive, so I wanted to make the front edge overhang, kind of like a visor, creating a mean look. The problem that created was that the upper chrome edge of the windshield got lost and I like to have it. So I decided to put it on top of the roof. But then I could not have it only on the front edge, so I made it kind of "flying" to the side. And to balance it, I put another rib in the middle. I think everything will work well together. Now, not to make a post without an update, I worked on the interior. It is a combination of the stock Phantom Vicky front seat with rounded off edges; the rear seat, also from the AMT Vicky, but it has been modified by cutting the bottom from the top and changing both the angles and the length of the seat cushion; the cut off floor the Dan Fink Speedwagon: and the side panels were scratch built from styrene.

Mike, thank you so much for the pictures. I see that there is a lot of the '30 coupe that is all new. It looks like there are only two common threes with the '29 - the frame and the chrome with the suspension parts. I love all the chrome on the SBC. This kit is going to be any street rod modeler's dream come true.
