Thanks guys I'll start looking for the Revell kit
-
I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this but here goes. Does anybody make a 21 window vw bus? I should rephrase that I found one at my LHS made by a company I'd never heard of and they wanted $85 bucks for it. I just can't afford that

Monogram '53 Chevy
mnwildpunk replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'd like to see the 53 again. And the 53-54 sedan delivery granted not the best kits but I always had fun building them. The last one I had was the 54 sedan delivery and I had as much fun as when used to build them back in the day. -
Family interest in models?
mnwildpunk replied to johnbuzzed's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
At christmas time I got my step son into the hobby and the stinker did great he is on his fourth model total but second #2 kit and at age 8 he is doing 1000% better then I did at his age -
I've built a lamborghini countach and I decided to paint it testors flaming orange laq. When I got half way through I decided I didn't like the look of the fender flares at all and thought it looked better after I took them off. Now I have a fully painted model that buts right up to the unpainted spots where the flares were. My fear is you guys are going to tell me to strip the whole thing and atart over. What I'm hoping for is someway to feather the paint into the unpainted spots. Can I feather white primer and then color coats or is it hopeless and I should strip the whole thing?

Last night as I was at the hobby shop looking at all the kits on the wall and noticing that half or more seemed to be re-issues a question came to mind. When for instance Revell ramped up to mold the 50 Oldmobubble:o) what do they do to research and decide which car they will make? The number one question that came to mind though is do model companies expect to recover their money from the first run of kits? Is this why I see so many re-issues because the kit hasn't paid it's self off so to speak? I'm sure there are kits on the wall that are so successful that they get re-issued just because they are so popular. can ya'll please shedd some light on this subject for me

Adding detail to lamborghini
mnwildpunk replied to mnwildpunk's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
What did you type to get those pictures I searched under lamborghini countach lp500 engine and I got maybe two pictures of the bay the rest all were the whole car pics -
I am doing a quick buld of AMT/ERTL'S Lamborghini countach LP 500 the kit is 21 yrs old it was part of a triple car package. I figured I'd build it quick because I'm sick of looking at it. This kit is as basic as they come. maybe 50 parts. The engine is a panel that you glue on. So I have the top 1/4 of the engine. Valve covers, carbs and a few odds and ends is all that is visible. I was wondering without going crazy what details could I add? I have yet to find a good picture of the engine bay on google so I'm guessing mostly I haven't yet painted the carbs and such

21 yrs later! (not as quick as I thought it would be)
mnwildpunk replied to mnwildpunk's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Oh good I thought I was going to have the record! Thank you bill once again for the info. Now if I could just find a picture of the underside of the car. -
I dug out a kit I was sick of looking at I started it 21 yrs ago!!! It never was my style. Lambo Countach. So I thought I'd slap paint on it and qucikly build it. I had to fix a couple things I screwed up all those years ago because I was young and only had testors red tube glue. but I couldn't stop at that. Noooooo I had to fix sinkholes, ejector pin marks and what I thought would be a quick build is now going to be on my workbench with my other projects grrrrrrrrrr. So guys what is the story behind your longest stalled out project? While I got this topic started already I'm going to break form and ask a question. Did all the countach lp 500s have that hideous wing on the back or can I leave it off?

I have a old old can of testors angel blue I was going to try to use it up but all the propellent is gone yet the can is full. How do I go about disposing of it?

AMT ERTL triple car kit questions
mnwildpunk replied to mnwildpunk's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
idk if all these types of kits are like this but the countach is half a step over a snap kit very basic at like 50 parts if that. The diablo is a number two kit and the viper is close to a 3 kit. So your saying the Countach was exclusive to this round of kits. but was released later during a different run? -
The hobby shop I go to which is close to my apt has the oddest selection of paints imho. 99% of the time I can only get the color I need in an enamel. But the only dullcoat/clearcoats they carry are testors lacquers. I've always been told you can't put a hotter paint on a cooler one. So is there anyway to get away with it?

Couple of questions
mnwildpunk replied to mnwildpunk's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thank you guys -
Either I'm not using the search function right or something because I can never find what I'm looking for. I am working on the AMT 71 duster. I'm having trouble placing the air cleaner decal it doesn't want to lay down so I went to the hobby shop and became puzzled. What should I use decal solvent or decal set and what is the difference? Another question I have is I made a wash to add depth to my grille I was wondering will it work the same on painted surfaces or will it not rub off like it does on plated surfaces?

Well I know what I read at one time and i'm not backtracking on that. But I guess the colorblind guy is going to keep his mouth shut on these kinds of questions -
I was hoping someone would speak up. I know one of the members used to sell ribbed belt material. But I can't recall who or the name of his company. Have you looked in the resin aftermarket section?
