  1. Thank you Harry P. I wasn't thinking I would get a science lesson with this answer he-he. I know what you mean by drying from evaporation the first tube I bought I had to return because it was already dried out before I got it home. Something must of been wrong with the tube? So I know epoxy is for bonding things together but would it work as filler or would it melt the model like plastic cement does. Ok I have some Ppgglazing putty for sheetmetal would that work? Thanks guys for putting up with what are probably silly questions for you pros
  2. I am not new to modeling but I am new to adding detail and fixing mold issues. I was at the L.H.S. And picked up squardons white putty in fact that's all I see at the L.H.S. Around here. I don't like the stuff at all. What do you pros. use? I'm willing to try anything because this stuff is not good I.M.O
  3. I ended up with a huge rubbermaid box full of legos which have since been past down to my son. I agree that lego has come along way since my building days. I love when my son gets a new kit because of the quality time we spend together building it even though he can do them on his own
  4. In re-reading my last reply I it reads like I'm being a smart butt which I was not trying to do. Steve or anybody would you teach me the difference between a panel and sedan delivery?
  5. I have been going back and tearing down models I did as a kid I've been bringing them down to bare plastic. Well when I was young I thought the more glue the better. I read many times on this site that putting parts in the freezer will break the glue apart and 80% of the time it has. Well today I was in the process of removing paint on a group of stubbornly glued together parts by putting them in a bucket of (scalecoat II wash away) and was pleasently surprised when coming out that they popped apart easily. I have tried it a couple more times to make sure it wasn't a fluke and it's worked every time. Has anybody else noticed the same thing happening with any other products? Hopefully something cheaper
  6. I am also a fan of the toothpick but I also have some very fine tipped brushes. I got them from a couple different places michael's chain stores and a local art supply store.
  7. Just going off what revell calls it on the box
  8. I picked up this 50 chevy when I was 12 it was the only one in my little hobby store. I got home opened the box and on the left front fender was a big hole. Hobby shop wouldn't return it. Long story short I had to fix it. Without any knowledge of any sort this was my solution. I took part of a spruce tree melted it and stuck it to the back side of the hole. Then filled it with a play-doh glue mixture. It wasn't pretty but did last 19 yrs. I'm proud of my creativness back then and thought you guys could use a laugh
  9. Today I've have been continuing to prep the body I've been holding off doing anything until I buy a compressor for my air brush. this is the direction I'm thinking of going. Using those rims and tires and putting a 235ci. With a different intake dual or trip carbs? I'm nervous about doing that because it will be the first time I hacked up a frame.
  10. Ok I'm seeing if I got this photobucket thing down this is some of mold issues I'm dealing with!!
  11. Wow joker amazing. Do you mind if I steal your idea for rear fender skirts? How did you attach them? I'm working on taking pictures and posting tomorrow. Joker if I can make mine look only half as good as your's I'll be happy.
  12. I'm putting together a revell 54 chevy panel custom. Right now I'm working on cleaning up the body. There are a bunch of mold lines to get rid of plus I'm removing the factory style rain drip rails that were molded in. who here has built this truck? Do you have any tips for me remember I'm just starting to learn how to add extra details. When I get to the engine I'm using the street version 409. It will probably take me a long time to get things right and I'm sure I'll be asking a ton of questions.
  13. I agree with disabled modeler mad max but I'm surprised no one has mentioned vanishing point it's not a high powered beginning but it sets up the whole movie. Man and everyone has to love super soul and yes I know they crash a camaro at the end
  14. Is there a model or was a model ever made of a 63 chrysler new yorker I'd like to make a copy of mine http://m414.photobucket.com/albumview/albums/mnwildpunk/DSC05189-1-1.jpg.html?o=1

  16. I bought a AMT 1953 stude starliner coupe at a yard sale everything in plastic bags 95% sure it's all there. a couple questions was this a 2 and 1 kit? There are parts for slicks and a bunch of go fast parts. Number two anybody have instructions for it? I'll pay for copies and postage.
  17. Uptown not downtown but uptown lol. East bethel I used to store my Chrysler up there on a friends land
  18. First project is mpc 70 super bee. Which brings up a question about the 440 in the box. When putting together the front housing has a fuel pump that seems quite small for it. what kit should I steal from for a better one?
  19. I decided where I live isn't going to change anytime soon. So I decided I'll make do and start model making again i'll just have to live with the fact my model won't be high quality simple because of issues of my small apt. I would love to find a way to paint wth my air brush but not sure how to keep the fumes and other stuff contained. I can't wait to get started again I just got to run to storage and grab my stuff
  20. If I start a topic and later decide I do notwant it up anymore is there anyway I can delete it? Oh can I delete it after someone replies to it?
  21. I wonder what the dumbest model ever made was? Idk did they make a model of the pontiac aztec?

  22. Is or has anybody put together the re-release of the 1950 chevy P/U? What did you think of the kit? I was looking at it I think it would be neat to drop it I was also wondering if anybody sells drop axles?
  23. I just joined the forum. I first read your chevelle thread and that blew me away now this one! I have been learning so much! You are a awesome craftsman! I'd like to see pictures of that table mill. And do you have a jewlers lathe or something? You work magic with metal and plastic.
