  1. Thanks a lot guys for the advice. If I had the extra cash dr. Cranky I would get some new materials but for right now I have to work with that silver, a brush, and a scotchbrite pad. Fatkidd, I was doing something similar to that already. What I did was use the pad to scuff them up, painted silver, then took the pad and wet sanded, then I put another layer of silver on and wet sanded again to take the shine out a little and give it nice brush marks. It isn't coming out so hot so I'll have to get stripping and try it your way. Thanks again for the help, you both build some really nice models. I can't wait to finish off this model and post my first finished model up here.
  2. So I have been trying to finish my 57 Belair and I wanted to give the bumpers a brushed look. I'm limited with tools and paint so I put two coats of testors silver agent, put it under my lamp for a bit to dry, then left it alone for two days, came back and tried to wet sand the brush strokes out to give it more of a flatter look. It just ended up getting my finger prints all over them and the paint start to glob. I'm a little jammed because now I'm stuck with pieces painted and one bumper I'm still trying to strip now. If anyone has any advice on how I can achieve the brushed metal look, how to strip my bumper, and what I do to prevent fingerprints I would be so greatful. Thanks for any help in advance.
  3. I like the look a lot better without the side skirts for sure. Can't wait to see it done
  4. This is a great build, the body work and color came out really nice. How did you do the slanted roof look? Did you just cut the front post a little shorter? I was trying to figure out how to achieve that same look with my 32 5 window. Keep up the work, looking forward to seeing the end result.
  5. This thing looks sick all laid out. I actually really like the wheel combo, I'm excited to see the end result. Great build
  6. They are some really sweet builds. I love step sides but that red one is pretty bad ass. i wouldn't mind doing one of these, nice job.
  7. Sweet mini truck build, nicely laid out. Can't wait to see more
  8. This is a great build. sorry to hear about getting laid off, good luck with the job search. I recently started a build with the same kit and your project has been a great refrence point, so thanks for all the pics, it's been a big help. I like look of your chop. I was planning on doing a chop on mine but with a slanted roof. Do you have any suggestions on how to go about doing that? Do I just cut a little more out of the front post, do I cut the post on an angle? Thanks for any help, looking forward to seeing some more updates of your 32.
  9. This thing is bad ass, looks 10x better then the black photo. I love the wheels on there, I even like the know back window. Nice work can't Wait to see it finished.

  13. Hey everyone, im new here. im not big on forums but i recently got back into doing model cars and i came across this website and i cant seem to get off of here. ive looked on a lot of different forums and projects but the ones that i have seen on this site are ridiculous. the attention to detail and quality is something im looking to learn from. needless to say i thought i would try this forum out and see how everything goes. i used to build model cars as a kid and haven't touched any in over 10yrs. i started back up with one of my favorites, a 57 chevy and now i am starting this 32 ford Revell 2in1 kit. i have a build off with a friend to build a rat rod so i want to channel the body, slam it down and chop the roof, flathead, rear fenders, and maybe a tiki theme interior for some of the plans. i mocked everything up and marked out some spots but i wasnt sure how to go about chopping the top so the roof slants downwards? i also wasnt sure how to go about slamming the front down, do i just cut all the springs off? if anyone has any suggestions i would appreciate it. thanks for looking
