  1. I used the old exhaust tips to help fit them through the bumper slots were the back up lights used to be. I also used the back up lens on top of the exhaust tip to give me the exact shape I needed to fit in the bumper space.
  2. I wanted to clean the tail pipes up so I ran a spare piece of exhaust up wards as to come out the back bumper later.
  3. I had to take the back of the rims down in order to get them to tuck. (cleaned up and painted silver later on)
  4. I had to change the rims, the other ones just didn't go with it. They will get a coat of flat black with a chrome moon cap.
  5. I also wanted to give the bumpers the brushed metal treatment. The back bumper (top) is just silver and not scuffed The front bumper (bottom) is finished
  6. I then painted them with testors silver and scuffed them up with a scotch brite pad to give it a brushed metal look. This was my first attempt but I think it came out pretty nice. The left one is painted silver and not scuffed yet The right is finished
  7. I stated by taking the back moldings and tail lighs apart and shorting the moldings.
  8. This picture was one of the last photos I have with it looking this way. It was later dropped a few months ago and a few pieces had came off. I figured that was a sign because I wasn't happy with the look so after looking on this forum I knew I could do a lot better.
  9. Painted the interior flat black and testor lime ice (details to come later)
  10. Thanks rob. I'm trying to post more photos but the forum keeps throwing me me back to the home page so I'll try and post more later.
  11. Hey everyone, I'm starting to post on here a lot so I figure I'd better start showing some work. My wife had bought this to help me get back into the hobby. Ironically she was unaware that the first real model I ever finished when I was a kid with my pop-pop was a Belair so I thought that was cool considering this will be my first finished model back into the game. I didn't start taking photos until a little into the build but I was basically looking for a mean looking stance and just a real clean look. I let my wife pick the colors and rims out and I took over the rest. The kit is the Revell '57 Chevy Bel Air Two Door Sedan 2 n 1 I'll call it "Chevrolime" Built the 283 V8 with the chrome, flat black, silver, and testors lime ice. I painted the whole bottom/frame flat black to match the body. This is the first time I had done the suspension the right way. I love the camber look but I may have over done it just a tad...haha! When I was a kid I would just stuff the rim and tire up in the wheel well and glue it. With the rear end I just went old school and did blocks. I know I know the paint is rough but you'll be happy to know its gets a better treatment later. Threw the body on and just smoothed out a few little things here and there Thought it looked cool to see the rims tucking through the headlight buckets. Thanks for looking, constructive critisim is always welcome.
  12. I love the way this thing looks, I'm personally a suicide guy myself, how did u go about cutting the doors off? It's clean.
  13. Hey doc the van looks great! You've made some real progress, when's the last time I came on here, haha. You make more progress having the flu then I do on a good day, haha, looks good all smoothed. I'm excited to see it all finished, any plans for the interior?
  14. This is a great looking build, nice work! I would love to see a build thread on this, that frame and paint are so clean and simple. I have been looking for people to build some killer mini trucks on here. Have you built any other trucks like this?
  15. Yea man, I would just keep it real clean and laid out then. Either way I still think its going to come out pretty sick, I'll be watching. Btw, that's a pretty nice looking ford dually in your avatar.
  16. Just wow! Both of them look really killer, I'm not sure which one I like more. Great work!
  17. This thing just looks mean! The stance, motor, rims, just sweet. Can't wait to see it finished, what kind of rims are they?
  18. I love your idea of having it slammed with those rims. I'd say your heading in a pretty good direction. Maybe a chop, channel? This looks like a fun kit, which one is it?
  19. I'd have to agree, the first rims look the best. I always thought vans were pretty cool, so much you can do with them. I really like how you smoothed it out so nicely, did you just use a block and piece of sandpaper?. I think it would look slick with the just the main body lines and get rid of the blinkers, gas door etc. But that's just me. Anyways I'm excited to see what you do with this one I'll be watching.
  20. That's a great looking color, what's it called?
  21. I love this dually! The paint came out really nice, I'm not much of a purple fan but that turned out really nice. Do you have any photos of the frame or with it fully done? I need to get me one of these kits
