'57 Ranchero & Sedan Delivery
JasonFL replied to Fletch's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
That delivery truck is just sick! What ever happened to it? I would love to see it with at least a set of mock up rims, just sick, nice work. -
The rat rod and the gto look sweet but I'm not seeing the el camino. I just recently came back to building also, this is a great forum. Welcome back

They are some great tips, I don't have the cash to get any body filler so I was just using my model glue alone to fill holes. Does the powder make it dry faster because the glue alone seems to take a while to dry?

This thing is looking good, the pearl came out real nice

I'm working on the photos. I'm from palm beach county, where aborts you from?

I like the mesh idea but your right, doesn't leave you much room for everything. What if you threw the fuel tank in the front of the bed and put the tanks and compressors underneath? Might give you a little more space. I was thinking of making some compressor from some old part trees. Take a piece of rod and make that your main compressor piece, find some flat piece for the bases, and just a little square piece on top. I haven't made one yet but I don't have much money for extra parts so I think of ways to make them. Nice progress so far

Whats your poison?
JasonFL replied to mp_101airborne's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I look at it like if I owned the car/truck what would I want it to look like. I try to build it with the best of my ability but I'm always a little afraid to take that extra step out of my comfort zone but I've been taught that everything can be fixed and if not you learn and use it for another project. I have yet to build my dream model but if I had a choice I would build my first truck I owned, a 1985 s10 Chevy blazer. I don't think they make kits and only a hand full of guys do a resin body so I'm not sure when I'll get the chance to build it. -
Great conversations with the "Bartster"
JasonFL replied to 85gt4bbl302's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'll third that I to have recently met Bartster and he's a good guy. He was nice enough to help me with my 69 camaro build and we've been throwing messages back and forth ever since. I guess I could say its been a start of a friendship -
I love this build! I'm with dr cranky, the thing just looks bad laid out. I would just do a clean bridge setup over the axle with the bags maybe with just 2 pieces of round bar going from frame rail to frame rail but how ever you did the frame over the axle looks great. Where did you say you were going to put the air tank, compressors, and gas tank? Looking forward to seeing more of this build, keep it up.

I like anything slammed, that exhaust is killer.

The chop came out nice but that paint really sets it off. I am about to attempt my first chop soon, I hope it comes out looking that good.

I love the nova, the stance you have it at just looks mean! Looking good, can't wait to see it done.

So I have learned a lot from this little paint project. 1. I need to have more patients and not get to excited to finish a build. I rushed it which set me back a while. 2. Brushing the paint while wet doesn't work to well. Not sure if it was the wrong materials but it just didn't work for me. It just made very think lines with deep valleys. 3. Put 2-3 thin coats of just testors silver with a brush on your part taking the brush in the direction you want the brushless to go. When it's fully dry take your scotch brite pad and "very lightly" brush it across the top until you get the look you want. I think it turned out pretty good, it took me a few good tries but not to bad for my first attempt. I found the hardest part is trying to hold the parts while making the brush strokes.

Thanks for the welcome guys, I love being here. Lol...that is true futurabat, I have been to a few other model sites and have yet to find any other forum like this one. Needless to say I think I'm done looking. Bartster, you have my word that when the time comes I to will pay it forward. I was surprised that there were so many people out there like me who have been out of the hobby so long so I don't really feel so out of place. I'm sure this is only the start for more great things to come. Dr cranky, I have to say I'm pretty impressed with your work and with the rest of the other great builders on here. I'm pretty addicted to the forum. I have your site saved and it's gonna take me hours to finish looking at everything, I have a lot of catching up to do. When I get all my photos off my old computer and finish the paint work on my Belair I'll be sure to post them up.

Thank you to everyone on the forum especially Bartster (Bart) who was humble enough to help me out with a build and not ask for anything in return. I'm usually the guy on the forums who doesn't really say anything to anyone or respond to any post but I have never came across a forum where so many are willing to help. I have learned so much and met so many humble people in such little time that I feel right at home. The last time I built models they didn't have the Internet so finding this website has been a godsend. Im usually on custom truck forums and I can never seem to get the help or advice I need so I thought I would just show my appreciation and thank everyone on here.

I like the way it came it, really cool

I love the concept, I can't wait till its done. I'll be watching this one -
I'm still stripping the bumpers but I'm doing some test pieces tonight so I'll let you know how they come out. If I could post photos I would but I don't have much luck with that either.

Mack Rig Rod
JasonFL replied to Chuck Most's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I agree with everyone else, this is a reall cool build. I love the look and the wheels are a nice touch. -
That is really cool, I love how you did the seat.
-
That thing looks mean, can't wait to see it finished.

That is pretty bad ass. Those wheels looks great on it, what are they off of?
