  1. Brandon, I've been working on a 1/24 IROC-Z conversion for the recently re-released 1985 Z28 and I've designed a set of decals for it: These are the draft version of the red decals, but the silver would look the same, only they'd be... silver.
  2. It is unethical to recast someone else's work without their permission, even if they are dead and buried and can no longer give permission. If the original item is so nice and desirable that you think others would want it, then it is worth creating your own version of it to make and sell.
  3. Both, plus Linux. It's the best freeware vector program out there.
  4. Under the big table of items. Direct link: http://www.fireballmodels.info/#ordering Todd, you may have signatures turned off in your profile settings. www.fireballmodels.info I'm considering 315's, but I also have another brand in the works and it might get the 315 size. Not sure yet. 1/16 would be nice to do if there is enough of a market; the cost would be a bit more for the bigger scale. I'd also need to know the dimensions of a popular wheel, or just make new 1/16 wheels to go with the tire. Thanks for the support!
  5. I have released a 1/24 275/60R15 drag radial. I showed the 3D model here last month: The 3D model for the tire: Ordering and pricing info is on my website, linked in my signature. Thanks!
  6. The truck tires are in production now, and will probably be joined by a "beefier" cousin before too long.
  7. Hi Joe, Welcome to the forum. If you are a relative newcomer to scale modeling, then I would suggest you build this kit purely for practice and don't get sidetracked by any inaccuracies you see in the details. Concentrate on the fundamentals of fitment, seam elimination, and painting/decals. I had a couple of those Monogram Indy kits way back when, and they are nice kits for the money. As you grow more confident in your skills, you'll probably want to move on to the Tamiya F1 kits, which (for the most part) are better-engineered and more expensive. Good luck and have fun!
  8. Siphon feed lets you attach a big bottle, which means you can spray a lot of paint before you have to reload. Most color cups on gravity feed guns only hold 1/2oz or less, and if I fill mine too much on my Eclipse, I always seem to spill some even with the top on. I like my gravity Eclipse for fine, low pressure jobs and my Paasche VL for basecoating and larger jobs. A lot of people use the Anthem 155 for all their painting, and it is a very good all-around gun. For spraying Alclad, have you tried the fine needle & nozzle combo?
  9. A few years ago I bought some big .030, .020, and .060 sheets from them and there's little chance I ever use it all up
  10. John, the original gatorbacks from the 80's Monogram kits are undersized for 1/24 scale, but would look just right at 1/25 scale.
  11. "Hey, kids; what do you want me to print for dinner? Soylent Red or Soylent Green?"
  12. The jewelry-making crowd is going bananas over 3D printing. It helps cut their production costs and time, which is the basic value of the technology for just about everyone who uses it. If you browse around the Shapeways marketplace, there are all sorts of things people are making for unique applications. Like this: http://www.shapeways.com/model/862271/iacoustic-s-iphone-5-minimized-gramophone.html?li=curatedproductGroup&materialId=6 or this: http://www.shapeways.com/model/97466/toothbrush-holder.html?li=productGroup&materialId=6
  13. Thanks for the vote of confidence, Joe! 3D modeling is a great way to spend an evening. I drew this drag radial last night and it will more than likely see production in the near future:
  14. Lacquer primer and acrylic colors are the normal paints used on vinyl figures. Whatever you do, don't use enamels on bare vinyl!
  15. Those TA's are sweet, Ron
  16. Cost for an original 3D model and printing? Probably less than you think but more than you want it to. (Edited for grammar)
  17. Looking good, Mike!
  18. If there isn't one, there should be. I like the nose on that model year.
  19. Freshly available 1/24 scale Light Truck Tire. "Real World" size is 30x10.5x15 and it fits Monogram's 15" wheels. Mastered by me in 3D and printed by Shapeways. Cast in flexible black resin and sold in a set of four. PM me for ordering info or send an email to joseph -at- fireballmodels.info. Thanks for looking! (wheel, painting, and weathering not included) Edit 04-11-14: A new, larger 15" tire is available now:
  20. What did you spray onto the first half of the mold to seal it off from the second half? One of the best and most inexpensive barrier coatings is plain old vaseline. You can (optionally) thin it with mineral spirits or naphtha, brush a light coating over the rubber, and you won't have any trouble separating the two halves. (edited for spelling)
  21. Smooth-On's Mold Star 30 platinum silicone. Thanks, Joseph
