  1. Cool. I too am hoping to get my hands on one of these in the very near future!
  2. I once had a boss who used to say "this place is a warehouse for a-holes."
  3. We NJers get blamed for that one while most of the show characters are NOT from New Jersey! My daughters do know Sammie, who grew up in our town. My elder daughter was her camp councilor.
  4. What if the Seaside Heights boardwalk in NJ was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy, then rebuilt in record time, only to be totally destroyed by a fire? Yea, it's on fire right now.
  5. Brad- the link was for one set and I emailed it to Michael. Just search eBay for the same set. There's always a few of them there.
  6. Welcome Patrick, from the other end of the state!
  7. I use that eXacto with the soft handle. It uses the standard number 11 blades and it's easy on your hand.
  8. Generic is a big company that makes everything from drugs to auto parts. I'm sure their U-joints are very good!
  9. Ken Hamilton sells a 1/25 scale photo etched shopping cart kit. Get that and you could build this in HO scale!
  10. Harry, the story was in Bob Lutz's book "Guts". It's an amazing book about the transformation of Chrysler. I loaned out my copy and never got it back, I need to get a new one since I wouldn't mind reading it again and keeping it as a permanent reference.
  11. Thanks Sam! Your roof is looking good!
  12. If you wanted to do a realistic junker, the holes in the body look just like drilled holes. To make them look like rust, take your exacto knife and twist it in the holes to make them jagged. You will want to connect some in a random pattern.
  13. How about free? You could certainly fit several of the 1/12 scale kits in any of my cases! The above one I got for free when someone was moving and left it behind. This one I spent a big $100 for at a consignment furniture store. And the small case was also free. It was literally sitting at the curb in my neighborhood so I just loaded it in my van.
  14. I have that kit. On the last day of a Toledo show many years ago, I moved a front stack of kits revealing what was on the bottom of the back stack that nobody saw. It was Chitty in a warped box. Started and glued badly, all the parts rolling around in the torn box, I thought it was parts for sure. So I offered the guy (who was selling mainly military models) $10 and he took it. Once I got it home I did inventory of the box and found that it was missing only the gas cap! Lucky break. I'll take it, I don't get many!
  15. Thanks for the offer! My wife informed me that we have an event to attend in NJ that weekend. Maybe next year!
  16. Actually AMC was a good deal for Chrysler. The Jeep brand alone was worth the price. Chrysler shifted the Diplomat / Fifth Avenue RWD production to Kenosha and got some more miles out of that tooling and kept people working. A funny thing happened at the 'New' Chrysler. Upon looking at what they got, they realized that this little company had just landed Motor Trend Car of The Year with the new Jeep Grand Cherokee with little to no resources. Chrysler was experimenting with shortening the design cycle of new cars then, and decided to try an experiment. They took the AMC design team, moved an equal number of engineers from Chrysler to Kenosha and told them to design something totally new, and to see how quickly they could do this. They didn't expect the car they designed to ever go to market, but once they were done there was something very interesting about the car so Bob Lutz put it in production... the car? The Viper!
  17. http://my.inbox.com/photos/escort500xl/index.aspx is his photo album / website. Most everything is priced. Email Don and he is very prompt to tell you the total including postage. He'll send you a Paypal bill if you want. His stuff is not Modelhaus quality, more like R&R and does take some clean up. But it's all pretty cheap and he will ship in a week or two depending on how much he has to cast for you. I ordered about $25 worth of stuff and it's a ton of parts. His propane tanks come in two sizes and you'll have to do some clean up and drill out the handle holes. I photo reduced the label myself. I can email you the Word file if you like.
  18. About 25 years ago there was a little classified ad in the back of Scale Auto Magazine for the Tri-State Scale Model Car Club. I wrote for information and my life has never been the same since. Anyone else fall for that ad?
  19. You mentioned the issue of getting these pipes to line up. I always drill mine out and insert a small length of straight pin. That forms a great connection that will line up perfectly and never break. See the below photo to see how the pins go in: I pin together much of my model. Much more positive fit than the kit supplied nubs. The exhaust manifold is pinned to the block too. Hope that helps! (I just replaced the picture. It seems that the one I originally posted is missing on Fotki)
  20. Funny thing, since I moved to PA I thought it might be fun to go to this since it's in the same state. Then I realize just how big PA is, it's five hours away!
  21. In the July issue of Model Cars, Darryl Gassaway penned the Editor's Corner for Gregg. He writes: "My second topic is one that may cause some controversy, the Model Car Magazine Forum. Gregg asked me several times why I don't post on the forum and I admit my answer was one he doesn't want to hear. I rarely go to the forum because of all the bickering that goes on there. I know criticism can be a positive thing when it is presented in a positive way, but many people seem to enjoy pointing out mistakes and then beating the mistake into the dirt. Let's all be honest here, there has never been a perfectly built model. As builders we know that sometimes we have choices to make during the build. These choices separate the elite builders from the majority of us, but even the elite builders sometimes compromise during the building process. This builder puts their heart and soul into their builds, no one builds with the idea of creating a junky model. As modelers we should embrace each and every build regardless of the skill level of the builder. I hope the forum can become a friendlier place for all builders." And that's a sad commentary. I posted it since I know a bunch of you won't see it because you don't get the magazine. Every time someone posts that we should support the magazine, guys here are brazen enough to find fault with that, saying "I'm just here for the free stuff."
  22. I got a clean work bench! I spent the evening yesterday getting it back in shape. I found some stuff I was missing and put all the projects into their own boxes. But look quick, it won't remain clean for long! Oh, and I got a new avatar!
  23. I bought one at the hobby shop yesterday. I had held off since I recently subscribed, but I guess it will start with the next issue. The issue I got is the GSL issue. It's a great issue cover to cover!
  24. Nice idea. My bottle of Zap A Gap is a shape that just loves to fall over. Fortunately it doesn't spill. I have glued it in to the bottom of a cut down small cup to give it a larger base.
  25. Different result, but this one is mainly Beverley Hillbillies truck too!
