  1. Heh, I remember those Go-Bots kits. I built the Cy-Kill, which was a re-box of one of the 1/12 (or was it 1/15) Ride Armor and MOSPEADA kits. Mine came out really bad, too. Sometimes I think about finding another and trying again, but I don't know if I would have the patience to try one of those old mecha kits again. Kudos for sticking with it.
  2. Looking good, Jason. Is this the Aoshima / Imai kit?
  3. So, is this the bread, or the circuses?
  4. How the HECK did I not notice "Stay With Me" used the same chord progression as "Won't Back Down"? There was a period of time I would put "Won't Back Down" on repeat for most of the subway trip to work. I've heard "Stay With Me" often enough on thru car radio. Yet, I still never made the connection.
  5. I'm so sorry for your loss, Tom.
  6. We got about a foot or so in the 5 Boros, much less than predicted. I'm glad for that. I have friends and relatives out on Long Island, they actually had 24-36 inches by the time it was over.
  7. Thank you kindly. I don't intend to screw around with your timing. If you set an end date, I'll gladly abide by it.
  8. Thank you, Jason. It's actually small compared to a 1/100 Gundam, but bigger than a 1/144 Gundam. About 8 inches tall, if you count all the antennae sticking out of the head, about 6 1/2 if you just count the top of the "skull." It probably wouldn't look so tall if it wasn't wearing the giant robot equivalent of high heels.
  9. Awesome. If the GB gets extended that far, I might try to contribute another sci-fi spacecraft if I finish this car soon enough. I also look forward to seeing more eye-candy!
  10. 49 was a typo on my part. It's actually a 48, the Revell custom coupe. Do you still plan to end the GB in February?
  11. Thanks, Joe. Use the third pic from the top (the front 3/4 view), please.
  12. Finally finished (I had to wait for some new filters for my spray-booth before I could paint the final parts). When I look at this, all I can think is, "Meh." Not only did I have issues with the build, I no longer really care for the design of this mecha, either. I think it may have been meant as a parody of anime robots, especially the super-deformed-style-Reaper-drone-as-flight-pack, and the "frills" on the shoulders. I'm not sure why I chose this kit in the first place, I think it may have been a bit less expensive the the much-cooler-looking ground-combat type mechas from this kit line. However, no matter how much cooler some of the other kits in this line may look, I think the problem I had with this kit has turned me off from the Frame Arms line of kits completely. She would have looked a lot better with a matte finish, but like I said before, I just stopped caring. I think I'll finally pull out a car for my next build. I recently started removing the mold-lines from the body of my '49 Ford Coupe custom, it looks like it should be a fun kit.
  13. The flu is MOSTLY preventable. The flu vaccine can't possible protect from every strain of flu virus. It's possible to get the shot, and still get sick with a flu virus. I'm not writing this to say that people should not get the flu shot, as it will reduce your chances of catching the flu. I'm just saying not to expect the flu shot to ELIMINATE that chance. I regret not getting the shot this season. The last time I got the shot, I had a reaction and felt under the weather for about day. Next time I will remind myself that feeling a bit down for a day is a heck of a lot better than the possibility of being out of commission for 2 weeks. Considering what it has done in my household, it's a combination of luck and constant hand-washing that it didn't knock me out too.
  14. Sorry to hear, Bill. Similar has worked it's way through my household, and it was really hard on my kids. I hope you feel better soon. Would space heaters help in your home, or is it more a matter of drafts than an insufficient heat source?
  15. Hey Jim, I didn't know you already had information on Pierre's background. I'm sorry for making assumptions, and I'm sorry for giving any offense. We have 3 cats in my home. The oldest one was adopted from a shelter, and we took in the middle one from a family friend when they had to move and couldn't accommodate him in their new place. The newest one may have either run away from her previous home, or been abandoned. My wife found him outside our daughter's school, coming up to people and rubbing up on their legs, acting like a domesticated cat and not a feral cat. We took in the cat while the school put up posters in the neighborhood. No one ever came forward looking for the cat, so if she wasn't abandoned, she must have run from a different neighborhood. She has now become a full-time member of our household. Thanks, Jim. I plan on it.
  16. Congratulations, Nick!
  17. Hi Casey. Mine was in the General section, particularly in the "Michael's - What's your opinion?" topic. It also happened when I tried PM the user I was trying to reply to. I remember having something similar happen just one other time in a different thread, but unfortunately I don't remember which one. Thanks!
  18. I had a similar problem when I tried to respond to a post in an existing thread. I wrote a couple of paragraphs on my Android tablet, using the Android browser, and when I tapped "Post," I was kicked out to the forum main page. I tried it again on a Windows computer running Chrome, and the same thing happened. I tried without quoting the post I was replying to, I tried typing the post in a word processor program and then copying the text into the reply box, I tried removing the hard-returns I had separating paragraphs, and the same thing happened each time. I even tried PMing my reply to the member, and I received an error message that a PM must contain more than three characters, when I had typed in two full paragraphs. I have posted other things in the same thread, and other threads, with no problem. The only thing I can think of is the forum software may have choked on some of the local names I had mentioned in my attempted post.
  19. They may not have had a choice. The cat's previous family could have lost their home, and their ability to care for the cat. They could have become too ill to care for the cat. The previous owner may have passed away, and the next of kin may not have had the ability to care for the cat. Personally, I'm glad the cat was brought to a shelter to have a chance to be adopted by kind folks like you, and not abandoned on the street the way some people will do. What pleased me today? Strangely enough, the bad weather in New York. In my household, weekend mornings tend to be almost as hectic as weekdays, what with the errands, appointments and the kids' activities. This morning, the kids' activities were cancelled, and none of the errands seemed important enough to have to deal with the Ken Block wannabes that think they can drive like rally drivers when there is a layer of ice all over the roads. We all stayed in this morning, everybody had a nice hot cup of coffee or tea, and I got to make pancakes for the family, something I rarely get to do these days.
  20. Here's a story with photos about the process of building the Hoonicorn Mustang: http://www.speedhunters.com/2014/12/the-hoonicorn-rtr-build-story/
  21. Airfix made one. I think it's out of production, but I expect they might show up somewhere. http://modelingmadness.com/review/misc/scifi/sf/spahrtardis.htm It's commanding a seriously premium price on Amazon. I have also heard about someone designing a 1/6th scale TARDIS using laser cut wood for eventual low-volume production, but they are not finished yet. Strangely enough, Harbor Freight's particle accelerator is very highly rated. They are so inconsistent.
  22. People like to talk about the types of people who attend sci-fi cons and other nerd-fests, about their poor hygiene and other quirks. I often wonder why nobody mentions those types attending the more "socially acceptable" venues, like sporting events. Every ball game I've ever attended sure had their fair share of weirdos, loons and stinkers. The last sci-fi con I went to, I didn't notice a single person with obviously poor hygiene, and not a single person drunkenly trying to incite a riot.
