  1. Thanks for the comments, Mark. You're absolutely right. It's just a different look. I've enjoyed putting this one together. Should be done pretty soon.
  2. Worked on this one a little more. Glass and grill installed. A quick mockup
  3. Man. That thing looks like it would take a few minutes to even start moving. So many things I dont even know where to look!
  4. Here's the finished bed on this one. One of these strips is not like the rest, one of these strips...
  5. Worked on this one a little bit more. I decided on a color. It's Nocturne Blue. Bad lighting makes it look black. Started the process to darken the wood on the bed and also mounted the spare tire.
  6. Thanks, Rob. It's the Detail Master bed truck kit. Comes with balsa wood and eight 5in. rails. Enough for 2 kits. Balsa wood is a little thick but you find some at a hobby shop.
  7. Thanks guys. Worked on this one a little bit more.
  8. Here is my 4th build of a 53 pickup. I really like this kit - not the flip version (even though I did build one), but the 3 in 1. I love the custom parts and the Desoto engine in it. I have plans for another custom, a 4x4 and a COE. here are the other 3 I've built so far: This one will be the stock version. A couple of good things that should go well for me on this build. I've built two 3 in 1s so I'm fairly familiar with the kit. Although this is the first stock, for my 53 ford wagon, I built a stock engine so I also have an idea of how that goes. Cleaned up some parts the last couple of days and laid primer and some base flat black on them. Using a resin spare tire fender. Not sure on the color yet. Here are some pics:
  9. The color, the exhausts, the taillight, even the skull shifter, they all fit so well together. Greta job!
  10. Thanks guys. I appreciate the comments.
  11. I think you're right, Ray. I'm going to do that before I put it in the display case. ...and i just noticed I put this in the wrong place. Harry, can you please move to the Under Glass section, please. Thanks in advance.
  12. This one is done. Thank you to those that provided some help and followed along.
  13. I got to work a little more on this one. Quite a bit actually since the wife is out of town. Here are some progress shots.
  14. Hey Thomas. It's Rustoleum Crystal Clear Enamel spray can.
  15. Thanks Carl. It's great that you always follow my threads. Here is more paint. Some gloss coats are needed to call it complete. Soon...
  16. Alright, I'm back from running errands. Today it really felt like I put some good bench time on this one. Pulleys in place as well as the alternator and bracket. The engine is just about complete. Some minor last finishing touches are needed. Some chassis work I had sanded this the other night so another layer of red and then the first layer of purple is on.
  17. Carl - it's model master acrylic. guards red with a bit of crimson red. While waiting for the wife to get ready, I put the plugs in. Now off to run some errands
  18. Thanks Carl and Thomas.. should be be getting more didn't this weekend.
  19. Thanks for the feedback John. Little bit of work tonight.
  20. You're absolutely correct, Rob. It's coming off after the last coat of chrome/aluminum/silver etc. The final wash will hide whatever is left from separating it. It was easier to brush the chrome off like this. And that's assuming I use them. Still looking for a pair of aftermarket ones. Having a very hard time deciding on colors for this one. Here are a few I've come up with. Thoughts anyone?
  21. Thank guys. I want to see it done also, Joe, but I'm trying to not let patience take the best of me...although it doesn't seem to be working as you can tell. Thomas - Believe it or not, the primer is the cheap one from Walmart.
  22. Did a bit more tonight. Prepared the parts I de-chromed for Alclad. Primer and Black base. I wet sanded the body for another coat of primer tomorrow.
  23. Thanks guys. I'm not quite sure, Mike. I've had this one for years and I got it in a collection I bought. Any markings that might help identify its maker? A tad bit of work this afternoon. Hopefully, I can do a little more work on it before going to bed. Here are some additional goodies I will be using to dress it up. Putting some parts through the de-chroming process. And then finally, I put some primer on the body to look for any additional work it might need. I will add that it is a very well done body.
