  1. Thank you very much, Steve, Tom and Tommy
  2. Thanks Scott. These are Carney display cases. Check out their website.
  3. Now that I got my juices flowing again, I'm moving on the next one quick. Started it after putting the Continental in the display case. It's Pro Street month over at Jerry's Cherrys so I figured this would be a great candidate. Easy donor. Should fit like a glove...not OJs though. Better. And I'm trying to decide on which PE wheels to use which I'll revisit later. I cast those rear sleeves and they are great for so many tires and wheels. So far, I've cleaned up the body and hood a bit. Saw this on a project here so I thought I'd try it. Built a fuel cell for the interior of the wagon. I'm hoping you'll be able to see it through the rear window.
  4. Thank you very much guys. This is just what I needed. Something quick. Something classy. Something nice. It worked out well. Steven - It sure did. I started another one already for our MOTM at our forum. Check out my new thread in the On The Workbench section.
  5. Thanks guys. Appreciate the words.
  6. The paint is amazing. I really like this! Great looking merc.
  7. Here are some pics of this one. I feel a bit better about building. Now I can get to some of my longer projects. Not a contest winner for sure but I'm happy with the way it came out. Had to go back and take another pic when the wife pointed out that it was missing mirrors. Side by side there is not difference between the 62 and the 63. Anybody want to share the differences?
  8. Foiled this one up and finished it. More pics in the Under Glass section. Felt good to put this one in the case
  9. What about the flares from the 4x4 Chevy pickups or Blazers? They might not be exact shape but if youre willing to make some from scratch, these might be a good start with less scratch work. Just my 2 cents.
  10. Ron, out of curiosity, what wheels would you go with? Thanks for all the feedback, guys. I'll keep all that in mind for the rest of the Continentals I have lined up next.
  11. I decided to go all white. Interior will be black on this one though. Here it is cleared, and a quick mock-up. I think it's going to look pretty good...but I'm not an expert so dont take my word for it.
  12. Looks great Chuck. Can you share the link to where the wheels are? Thanks
  13. No need to apologize, I think. It's valid feedback.
  14. Thanks for the support Steven. Sometime I just want to build for fun and not try to put together a contest piece....not that I even could, anyways.
  15. Yup it was already suggested once. Thanks for the feedback. Probably won't happen on this one. This is just something to get me back in the mood, so to speak..to get out of a rut, I feel I'm in. If I get too involved, I'll be right back where I started. Just want a simple fun build for now.
  16. great selection of pictures, Jon. Image 234 there is what I think I'll aim for. It would look great in black but it is overdone. We'll see if the white sticks. But not black for sure. Sorry.
  17. Last night I airbrushed white as a base color but it's growing on me. I might end up leaving that way. With the chrome it should look pretty nice. Sanding and clearing should tell later this week.
  18. Basically how I built them as a kid LOL So wait a sec... the gold car on the box is a 2 door... but your car is a 4 door... I'm confused. Most of these old annual kits from the late 50s & early 60s never depicted the actual model on the box. They were just a generic box for all of the kits with a sticker on the side depicting what was inside. Steve very true. Some kits used the same artwork and then just stamped the side of the box with what kit was actually inside. Or like this one, the side flap was specific to the kit.
  19. Thanks for the comments guys. The inspiration pics too. I won't be doing anything over the top but it does give me some ideas. The putty did its job. Here it is after some wet sanding. I was going to keep the interior as it was but I de idea to strip as well. Working on picking a color and disassembling the engine as well. I'm not sure I really like the engine. What would be a good believable swap?
  20. Thanks for the comments folks. No custom parts, Dave. It was pretty much built already. I'll have to check my parts box or other Continental kits I have to see what I can add to it.
  21. I'm looking to build something that might not take so much time. Something to get me fired up or excited to finish it. A big scale build I'm working on has me a bit burned out. So I'm starting this 63 Continental. In some of my last purchases, I've gotten ahold of many of the old AMT continentals, 61-66, I believe. A mix of hardtops and convertibles. Most of them are gluebombs and will need stripping and possibly some parts replaced. I already placed an order with Modelhaus last month to get some of those parts. Here is this one. Still has the original price tag on the box. $.99 oh man I wish! I took it apart and seems that most of the stock parts are there. I forgot to take a picture of what it looked like prior to disassembling (I keep forgetting to do that with these rebuilders). But here it is while I was cleaning her up. A corner of the rear broke off. Glued it back into place and it was ready for primer. More cleanup coming up. Of course the repaired piece still showed the crack so I did a thin layer of putty to, hopefully, cover it up. I can't get myself to go all stock. Plus on this one, the wheels were damaged. melted almost right into the tire. Soooo. I have these caddy sombrero hubcaps that I really like. I think that stance will work. Prepped a couple of sets. Some Alcladd Chrome is next on them. Those are Modelhaus tires btw.
  22. This looks great. What stencil did you use for the skull & bones on the back of the trailer?
  23. Nice! A huge win for the forum. This build certainly deserves it! Can't add much that hasn't already been said. Wonderful job and great attention to details. Great job, James!
  24. Excellent build Shane. Nice touch with the dice. Tell me more about the wheels. I might to steal that for one of my pickups.
