  1. Thanks Christian. Lots of inspiration on this site and many others.
  2. Thanks Chris. I have another one of these on my bench right now. Did have to sand the doors downtown fit like you did. That will be my third one and I want at least one to have opening doors. Going with a different set of hinges this time. Slow progress on that one but you'll see an update soon in the progress threads.
  3. Thank you all. I really appreciate your comments. First time using this weathering technique and I'm hooked. Foxer - That's the electric radiator/fan. Stole it from a NASCAR kit.

  6. This one is done. I so much enjoyed this one. Parts from a few kits. If you remember this started as a 1940 Ford pickup kit, then a lot of it ended up staying in the box. 1940 Ford Pickup Bed - 1934 Ford Pickup Frame - R&D Deuce metal Frame Extras from different other kits, parts box and aftermarket brands - Skulls, Moon tank, radiator& cap, hoses, tailgate chains, taillights, headers, stacks, headlights, steering wheel, dash details, ignition coil and strap, rims and tires Scratch built or homemade - wiring, bed floor, headlight brackets, taillight brackets, steering wheel column, seat cover and firewall electrical boxes I think that's it. 7. SOUNDS like a good idea but is it really worth the time and frustration of masking the rigid headlight? I would love to see a successful chroming of one of those clear copies. I think its less time consuming to drill it out like many have already said.
  8. This is an excellent build, Ray. You've easily used that body for a cartoon build but I like the way this turned out. Olive Drab makes some kist look dull, but you managed to pull this off perfectly. Great job!
  9. Well here are the last few progress pics for this one. A teaser shot as well. Once I get some time to get some nice pics I'll post them in the Under Glass section. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  10. Thanks Christian. And you're right about the windshield. A challenge for me personally. Always looking for an easy way to get this done.
  11. You're really going to like them Carl A few more little details added to this one. Mounted the firewall and added the coil & strap. Some chains for the tail gate. I didn't like the way the bed looked open so a little bit of balsa wood gave it a better look. Added the tank, and you'll see the radiator cap right beside it. Mounted the radiator underneath the bed. A 32 PE grille also went on after I rusted it up a bit. Also added some headlights from another 30s kit, just cant remember which one? Used some pins to attach them to the grill. Very small details left. Here are some pics. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  12. Thanks Carl. The seat cover is a sheet of cloth I bought at hobby lobby that allows you to print on it. A few pics from the Internet and presto! Last night I got to painting some more parts to match the cab. Touched up the cab as well. Everything is loosely fitted but it's getting there. Still need to mount the radiator, the moon tank, some headlights and a PE grille I have in mind. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  13. Thanks Jose. I worked on this one some more today. The wife is out of town so I got to spend some extra time at the bench Lots of pictures tonight. Finished up the interior and the cab, the engine is mounted and the tires are in place. Some more mock-up pics. 14. Thanks guys. Carl- the skulls came from dark world creations. You can order 50 for less than $10 plus shipping. On their website or sometimes on ebay.
  15. This is looking great, Wayne. I also thought about the Rat Roaster wheels for my 40 Ford rat rod. I can't tell from the pics and I'm assuming you would mention it but are you using the stock firewall? I like the bed. Will you be scratch building the tailgate or will you use the 34's one?
  16. And here's a little more. I spent the morning attaching the rear axle. More difficult than I thought. Test fit it all again. I've chosen the wheels and tires as well. Worked on a couple of little details that I will be adding. Also chopped a bed....two of them actually. Chopped one too short. Measure once, measure twice! Both the cab and bed will come lower over the frame. I feel like everything is falling into place. 17. Not sure why I hadn't updated this one. It's been almost a month but I have been working on it. Got the cab painted last week. I just did some touching up today but waiting for it to dry. I'm going to use the metal from that R&D has for the 32. Added the dropped tube suspension, same brand and will be adding the rear axle soon. Added the engine mounts today and test fitted the clearance of everything. I'll be using the bed from the 34 ford pickup kit. Here are a couple of pics.
