  1. Thanks guys. Yes sir, Jose, Alclad. Base is gloss black from Spaz Stix and then the chrome Alclad both from spray cans.
  2. Thanks Branndon. Here's last nights work. Darkened the door panel lines while removing some mold lines. Cab and front end drying from a fresh coat of primer (not pictured). Engine received a chrome treatment. Black wash and some detailing coming up. Chassis received same treatment and it is on all fours. Here are some pics.
  3. I have a pro street build in mind for next year and I think those rims and tires will go great with it so I'm changing over to these. Still using EFX MAS parts. The rear sleeves are the resin ones I have in my eBay store. They fit perfectly into the rear tires from the kit. And now that the first 53 pickup is done in coming back to this one. Just some small updates since I spent most of the time gathering the left over parts from the other one. For this one here I'm trying to blend in the from grill housing with the fenders. See how it goes. Added the clips to the front so I can test out the flipping action. And finally added the firewall.
  4. lot of changing my mind on this one along the way. It's finally done though. Started with it, painted it, painted it some more. Thought about using it for a work truck but once I started with the different layers of paint and the weathering it seem to work itself out. Just a plain 1953 Ford pickup. Patina everywhere sanded and cleared semi matte. Bed restored and a nice little engine to get where you need to be on time. New bumpers and wheels.
  5. This one's all done. Check it out in the Under Glass section. Thanks for following along.
  6. More work on this one here. Decided to go with the stick grille. Blacked out behind it as its a mistake I often make. Not this time. Worked on the bed. Added balsa wood small steps of styrene painted chrome. The bed is ow in place. Also found this engine. Can you guys tell me what kind of engine it is and if it were to fit this pickup? Here pics of everything.
  7. Thanks Branndon. Rob - I'm going to try it out. Owrst case scenario I can wipe it off like you said. Will definitely help the panel lines thats for sure. Thanks for the tip
  8. Thanks guys. Not sure about the dirty look, Rob. I'm still going for a clean patina look. But who knows. I've changed my mind so many time with this one. Adding a Desoto engine to it soon.
  9. Thanks Steve. I'm not sure this will end up as a work truck anymore. Will probably go with a Desoto engine and keeping this patina look. It's been sealed with Alclad semi matte clear. Changed the rims to green and put them on some white walls the front has been lowered a few scale inches. The rear is still not set but I'm liking this height. Now I can't decide on the grille for this look.
  10. This is the third 53 I have been working on. I was going to save it for the April MOTM over at jerrys cherrys but 6 months is way too long. I'll be done with this one a lot sooner so I'll think of something else for then. Here are some progress shots.
  11. I'm going to see if I can cast this one since it's probably my favorite one. Didn't work on the engine today but I did find the wheels I'm going to use. Had been waiting for a build to use some PE wheels and this will be perfect. The wheels are from MAS, the sleeves are some of the old Details Master ones and the tires from the Pegasus Spiders. They are a perfect fit for these sleeves. In the pic where theyre assembled, the ones on the left are the rear tires. The difference is that I inserted the wheel through the back of the sleeve to give it slightly more depth. Here are some stance shots. The front wheels will fit just fine but the rears will need some mods to make them fit. I started cutting up the bed to make room for the tires. Marked up the fender and some clearance guides. Getting there.
  12. I laid primer on the engine. I wanted a very thin layer of it so I used Alclad filler n primer for this one. Drilled out the holes for the plugs and distributor.
  13. Small follow up this afternoon. Flipped the valve covers to the right position. The engine block is not even at the bottom so adding some Squadron green putty to even it out.
  14. Well I put the Gibson engine together. I'm starting to think I'm going to cast this engine. So easy to work with and fits with a few other future projects.
  15. Here's is the chopped cab. Shave door handles. Found a hood and shaved the emblem as well. And the Flipnose. I have a feeling I'm going to end up modifying that hood for a bigger engine.
  16. So I decided to start a few more projects. I'm going to build three 53 Ford pickups all different styles. In this thread I will show he progress for two of them. The work one I have to keep to myself until closer to the contest for my forum. It'll be for the April MOTM. Anyways. Here are the three diferent cabs. From left to right 1. Stock cab for a work truck - shhhhh it's a secret 2. Resin chopped cab from Frontier Design - hot rod 3. Flipnose version - street racer.
  17. This ones done. Didn't notice the missing mirror until I started taking pics. Too late.
  18. Thanks Tonio n Dale! Appreciate it.
  19. Thanks Ron and John.
  20. Some chopping to the 40 Ford pickup cab could work also...maybe.
