  1. Thanks for the tip Flatliner. I`ll get it to fit, no problem there. It`ll just be one more thing that I get to cut up
  2. While doing some research on old Fairlanes and the early 60`s I found a pretty cool article on a 57 and thought you gearheads might find this as interesting as I did. I still am not too sure what direction my build will take. I`m leaning towards a spin on the car in the posted article with a little more to it. A stage 3 if you will, specially made fer runnin coast to coast all night long .All I know for certain is that it will have that tasty blown 312 in it. You were correct Jantrix, it is a McCullough Supercharger. http://mecum.com/auc...D=DA1011-114932
  3. Cool builds allready starting to pop up, I like it! I`ve seen what perverse creations that Luna, Jantrix and Slant are capable of. It`ll be good to see what the rest of you are going to be up to. I have a feeling mine will be pretty mild compared to most. BK,I`ve built that 62 409 before. Its a nice kit and lends itself well to mods, you`ll like building it.
  4. In my opinion there are no poor kits, only bigger challenges. Case in point...the Amt General Lee, quite possibly the most criticized and poor(and rightly so because it really is terrible in a lot of areas)models ever, yet I have seen a lot of builders turn it into a work of art.
  5. <p>Sometimes its like the universe just sticks its finger in your face and say"Do it dummy". I really wanted to be in this CBP but the only 62 or earlier ride I have is a 55 Ford Victoria of which I have a plan for that does`nt fit in 1962. I have so many models to be built or resto`ed that I told myself I was`nt going to buy any more models this year until my pile got thinned out and resigned myself to not participating....well that thought made it less than 3 daysI`m in Value Village wandering aimlessly and I spy an AMT 57 Fairlane 3in1 STILL IN THE WRAPPER!!!! For $10. It was so obvious that it was meant for me and this build that I couldnt pass it up, so here I am. Being that it was un-opened until my grubby hands got on it, its like new and has a lot of performance parts of that era in the box that I would need to make it a 1962 Cannonball death machine. I dont think I`m going to deviate much from box stock on this baby....much....seeing as how its managed to survive untouched for this long, and honour it by building it as clean and badass as I can. It may be a while before I can actually start on it so dont wait up for progress shots anytime soon. And once its rolling...dont try to keep up
  6. My ex brother in-law is a salesman for Ford. I asked him one day why pick-ups have become so dam expensive. He said, "Because people are willing to pay that much."
  7. You guys will hate me for this but the Ice Patrol snowmobile died violently in my hands. I thought the truck would look better with a bike in the back so I put the Yamaha dirtbike from the MPC Chevy step-side p/u in the box, built the snowmobile(even painted it), doused it in lighter fluid and launched it off the roof of my buddies house via one of those elastic powered Hot-Wheels launch pads. 8)
  8. Somewhere in this world I hope a car designer is standing in the unemployment line.
  9. For me the Ice Patrol is just one of those ultra cool kits from when I was a kid. I bought one when I was 10 or so and was the envy of all my buddies. I built it box stock and cherished it for a few months then I painted it red and gave it a suspension lift, then I painted it black, then it fell off a shelf and eventually died a horrible death as a pile of plastic at the bottom of my parts box....ahhhh nostalgia.
  10. Nice work! And on one of my favorite all time cars to boot.
  11. I wont hold my breath waiting for a re-issue of the Ice Patrol Chevy 4x4, but if anyone at Revell is listening I have a birthday in 9 months.
  12. How old was your Dupli-color clear? I`ve had the same problem with yellowing and it was from the old can of Dupli clear that I used. The can I used was a couple years old and hardly used but it managed to yellow so bad it made my metallic charcoal take on a slight gold looking tinge. I sprayed the clear on the side of my white boat to see how yellow it was and it was terrible. It was the color of Shellac. I had other cans of the same brand clear that were just as old and tried those and they were fine, just a bad can I guess, but since then I always do a test spray(even with new cans) just to make sure all is good.
  13. "And with 400 hp in a 1500 lb package it's going to be fast, and a handful to drive to say the least." With a face like that it had better have nice legs.
  14. Very slick. I dig it! It looks more like an old Cad than a Merc.
  15. I`m lucky. There are models out there of every vehicle I`ve ever owned but I have none of them. My current set of wheels is a Jeep Comanche and I wish there was a model of it because I would get that one for sure.
