Got a bit done on the interior today. Built a rollbar and a seat mount. Its not going to be quite as plush as Erics interior. Stripped to the bone with one seat, a shifter, a rollbar and not much else. This baby is built for speed. I opted to keep the carpet to have a little more comfort during the occasional catnap on the floor.

Thats a drag Jantrix. Can you turn it into a dent or a section thats getting a little bit of body repair? It would suck to see you stop this close to the end

Wow! Thats a nice interior.

Geez, I go away for a couple days and come back to a conversation about the size of my Cajones. You guys need to find a hobby. I think I`ll take it as a compliment I hussled my butt tonight and got a ton done. The stock front suspension was`nt doing much for me, it just was`nt fitting in with the look I have planned for the car so I did some frame mods and put in a gasser style front end. That of course led to clearance problems with the motor mount so I had to make new mounts too. Good thing its a straight line from coast to coast cuz I dont think that leaf spring front will handle as well in the corners. Also got the backside of the grill shaved down in order to open it up, I like that look a lot more than painting in the black spaces.

"Holy Grail" Models?
A.R.C. replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I`m lucky. I have two out of my 3 grails, A Badman purchased 20 years ago and the Revell Monroe Handler( bought a year ago still sealed). Now I`m in search of this baby........ I had it when I was a kid and for sentimental reasons would love to find it again. -
Fixed it for ya Had a long productive day yesterday. It would have been even more productive if I didnt spend half of it removing flash and cutting out that silly molded exhaust sytem.

Thanks Luna. I appreciate the comment. Your words actually inspired me to get my tail in gear. Last year was my first Cannonball and I had a good time with it. I really REALLY hate to not finish anything I begin let alone not even start it. It was actually bugging me that I bailed out last week,so if its cool with you guys I`m gonna jump back in. I took alook at the Fairlane this afternoon and decided with the type of build I originally had planned for it and the next 3 days off I can make some major headway and do my darndest to make the start line. I spent 3 hours on it so far today and plan to put in at least a couple more. I`ll put up some pics later this eve.

One of the coolest models I`ve seen in a very long time. Nice job.

Well, I`m gonna call myself officially out of the running. I`ve been so busy with full size projects and other things I havent even opened the box since I took my first pics. On the up side I did manage to slip in some time to finish a Meyers Manx.......... it only took me a year!! There are some cool rides coming together on here and I`m looking forward to seeing the finished jobs. Good luck to everyone, see you on the next build.

I`d be doing better if I could get my head out of my ... for a breath of fresh air. I`ve been so busy with a couple custom motorcycles I`ve been building (real ones) that I haven`t had the time to even say the word Model. After the bikes are done I`m starting on a real truck and another motorcycle. Somewhere in between all that I`m gonna fit in a Cannonball Forgot to mention that everyones cars are looking great!

There was definitely bad Mojo...

Your not alone. I`m sure everyone here could attest to that. Just last week I was in the final stages on a Meyers Manx. The chassis is done and just waiting for the body. The body mods went well as did the final priming. The color on the bottom side of the body went on perfect. I laid down the black color coat for the top of the body a couple days later and it went on beautifully. An hour later when I checked on it it had wrinkled into oblivion and I have no idea why. I went through the same process with the same brand paints that I have painted dozens of models with and have never had this happen. Currently the Manx is bathing in a gallon of Super-Clean. -

Cool ride Luna. I`ve got the Frank Iaconio version of that car sitting in a box in peices waiting to be resurrected.........one day. I`ve had it since the mid 80`s so its a little worse for wear.Everything is there, it just needs some love. The restore on it is getting closer though. I recently bought a new decal set for it. Your right, its a very cool model.

Nice work Doc. I`m lovin that Rat Fink decal!

I had a similar non drying issue with a can of Dupli red oxide filler primer. It sprayed well, layed down nice but only dried to about the half way point. I let it sit for a day and it never got any harder. Rather than strip it I figured I`d experiment. I sprayed a coat of grey filler primer over it to see what would happen and within a couple hours everything had completely hardened. My guess was that the Red Oxide didnt get enought hardener in the mix when it was made. Weird.
