Lost in Translation.
Deathgoblin replied to Erik Smith's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Too bad we can't see what the original Japanese might have been. I'd like to know what they were trying to say. -
I like it! Looks like someone converted an MG into a track racer. Bicycle style fenders on the front would look wicked on this.

I dig it! Can't wait to tear into mine

Computer vs Modeling
Deathgoblin replied to rel14's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I work with computers at my job, so that's where I tend to keep up with my posting on here. My bench is upstairs from where I'm at now. -

Getting back into building.

It's like riding a bicycle. It all comes back to you. I definitely recommend reading the tips and tricks and Q&A sections. I learned stuff that I would have never thought of before. -
Union/Heller Porsche 917K kit with the Martini livery. I've been after one of these for a while, and lucked out on a complete one with a couple of badly painted parts. Got it for $20 plus shipping. Not too shabby.

Upsides and downsides to Lindberg kits?
Deathgoblin replied to dantewallace's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Any of the Lindberg 1/20 scale kits are outstanding, if you can find them. I've had the S-10 and the Dodge Stealth, and they were both excellent. The 1953 Ford is nice and so is the 64 Dodge. I would avoid the Dodge Challenger, it's another Palmer kit, and it's terrible. -
Revell Customer Service

I've had good experience as well. I'm working on the 57 Chevy 2 door sedan, and found that the rear bumper was missing when I went to check the parts. They had a replacement to my door within 2 weeks. Nice to know someone stands behind their products. -
Nice builds! Welcome to the forum. I like your car. SEAT has some really interesting designs.

Isn't the engine in these a DOHC flat 12 cylinder? A little different from a beetle engine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_917 -

Or how about a new tool for the 67 GTO? I just got one for christmas. It's a kit that's definitely not aging well. -
I only wish that this kit had been molded with clear glass instead of the smoky clear. It's still a nice kit. I built one way back when, but it went with my other kits.

Finally met up with my Dad and Step Mom. We had to miss Christmas with them because of health issues on their part. Health issues are still going on and Dad's in the hospital, but he's much closer to home right now. We had a good time in his room and got to trade presents. I got the Revell 50 Olds and 57 Ford, plus a 69 Camaro SS 427 L-72 and the AMT 67 GTO. Now I just gotta make sure Dad heals up okay.

I've got one of these in my stash. I've got plans to build it up as a base model '71 charger with Cragars and a 360 and give it to my brother. He used to have one just like that. I'd love to find a '73 or '74 kit to do the other one my family had years ago.

Am I the first to lose a model?
Deathgoblin replied to sportandmiah's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Had a resin kit of a figure on a motorcycle. Was working on building the figure and found the bike had disappeared. My wife had mistaken the clear plastic bag of white parts for an empty chip bag with some trash in it and thrown it away. I had already taken the trash out and the truck had already run. So I ended up having to track down another copy of the kit. -

85%. The old Chryslers and DeSotos screwed me up a bit. And the Packard.
