This looks like its going to be every biy as good as the Hudson. Wonderful !! Maybe its just me but don't you think the Chrysler looks a bit like the Volvo Amazon. Just a teeny-weeny bit huh? What do you think fellas?

Do you build more than cars?
Diesel Gypsy replied to Aaronw's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hi Folks. Apart from cars I also build trucks & some Regia Aeronautica subjects. I also paint, mainly watercolours but other mediums as well. I love working with wood, Turning & Carving but my other hobby & passion is Marquetry. Here are some WIP pictures & the finished item. A couple of WIP truck builds for you. Regards Dave. -
Thank you for your comments & tolerance guys I’ve exchanged PM’s with Jairus and we’re good. I like to thank him for his understanding. He’s a good guy. I still feel shame faced & my toes still curl at the thought of being a dumb ass, lesson learnt though. Engage brain before opening mouth.

Hi Guys. I owe you all an apology, especially Jairus. It’s very rare for me to loose my temper & even rarer to loose my sense of humour. I’ve never ripped into anyone on a public forum before, `re the “How to Z a frame†topic. It was totally unjustified & an overreaction, for that I’m truly sorry. Excuses are no defence & I’m not making excuses or trying to hide behind sympathy, but I just want to say that I’m a disabled guy who’s having a rough time lately. I guess things have overwhelmed me a bit recently & I became very cranky. I’ve just returned from the pain clinic in Hospital where I’ve been pondering my outburst & feel the need to put the matter straight. I shall be writing to Jairus directly. I hope you’ll accept my apology.

Treehugger Dave. Many thanks. I am intending to build A model A rod, not a fat fendered so your advice will help loads. Cheers Dave . JARIUS I asked what I thought was a reasonable, well mannered question & in return I get arrogance & sarcasm. Who the hell gave you the right to call me “bunky†!!!!! Quite frankly Jarius I don’t need your single celled intellectual wit.

Hi folks. My enthusiasm for modelling has reached an all time high. After many years of truck modelling I find my modelling interests turning full circle, I’ve started to build cars once again. My main obsession is cars from the `40s, `50s & `60s mainly “Fat Fenders†but not exclusively. My apatite has been whetted, (by the excellent Rat Rod models posted on these forums,) to attempt a build myself. My problem is; how do you zed a frame to give that low mean rodded stance? Do you scratch build or modify? Your help you can give will be much appreciated.

That is soooooo cool. My kinda Rod. Very well done sir

Mmmmm classy motors. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder my friend as your last picture proves. You think the little Merc is Pug ulgy, I on the other hand think it’s a lovely little motor. It may have been a bad handling little beasty, but it sure is pretty. I guess there’s no accounting for taste on my part is there.

Some help needed with my `58 Impala please.
Diesel Gypsy replied to Diesel Gypsy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Many thanks all. Thats given me something to think about. BTW I'm building the car as an American car & not as a UK inport. Thanks again for your help. Dave -
Hi Guys. I'm building AMT's `58 Impala & I'm wondering what colour the underside should be. Ive been told that it maybe the same colour as the body, but I'm unsure. I've got friends here in the U.K. with American cars of the period but their cars all have black underseal on them, which I dont think is correct for a factory stock Impala. Could you advise me on the correct colour please. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Dave.

Ok I'm off & running, or should I say stumbling. Primed with an etch primer, rubbed down & reprimed with Halfords white plastic primer. Then blew a black guide coat all over. Going to set it aside for a few days now to allow the paint to cure. After the paint has cured I'll cut it back with some very fine Scotch & if there are no blemishes I'll apply the first colour coat. Untill next time.

Hello Folks. I'd like to share my latest build with you all. This is the Revell kit of Thomas Hegmann's V10 Mercedes Class C racing truck that he drove to the European Championship in 1989. The livery is how the truck appeared at the German GP at the Nurburgring in 1991. The truck came to a premature end in `93 after a very spectacular crash. The miracle was that Thomas only had minor injuries, the truck on the other hand was a was a total loss. I hope you like her. Thanks for time.
