Post your truck mockups.
BobbyG replied to Mike C.'s topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Been working on this old resin Dodge that I've had for over 20 years and was going to dump it until a friend told me I was crazy, so I decided to give it a new life and create a detailed and unique truck. The body has been thinned and cleaned up, the chassis from the AMT 53 Ford PU, pu bed is from the Dodge Little Red Truck, Hemi engine from the 57 Chrysler 300 (may as well do it right), parts box stuff and a lot of scratch building and mods. I'm going overboard with details but hey, it's saving an old Dodge that you don't see in scale. Color will be a Chrysler pale blue , black steelies and possible front axle. The headliner and door panels are scratch made. Using Detail Masters wood bed panels. This resin came with P/E badging that were made by MCG. I scratch built the front grille to represent a 59 version and dual headlights are the custom parts from the 53 Ford. -

Who doesn't love a mock-up? Let's see yours!

Getting this bad boy ready for paint and assembly. All modifications have been made on the frame for 4x4 drive train driven by a 57 Chrysler Hemi, TorqueFlite and transfer case, resin steelies and tires (I'll probably switch the tires to Fireball) and steerable front axle. Dashboard has a separate gauge panel with aftermarket gauge panel and switches detail. Made a headliner as well. Door panels have separate inserts to represent the 1:1. Scale Motorsports upholstery decal on the seat. The body has been sanded and ready for another coat of primer, then some coats of Chrysler pale blue finish. Headlights are from the 53 Ford PU custom grille, separate lens for the turn signals and scratch made taillights with separate lens. Hoping to get this done soon. -

The 58 Dodge has a fresh coat of primer after several modifications. I removed the hideous front fender flairs and repaired the openings with sheet plastic then added the opening lips. Fabricated a radiator support, added rear window trim and made headlights from the 53 Ford pu custom grille, which is as close to the Dodge headlights. The pu box is from the Dodge Little Red Truck and used its tail gate for the front box panel. This will have 392 Hemi to be period correct and 4x4 drive train from the parts box. Still haven't decided on the colors but leaning towards a 50's pastel. Hope y'all like the progress. -

This resin has been buried and thought about selling, but another look at became another Mopar project. Looking at making a 4x4 drive train with a 392 Hemi, resin steelies and tires. Using the fram and floor board from the AMT 53 Ford F100 and the pick up box from the Little Red truck. Thinking a very light blue white top and blue over white interior. Any ideas are welcome. Thanksi -
1/24 Cobra 289 FIA / USRRC wheels
BobbyG replied to Hoffman's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Jason, My order arrived today, the Cobra wheels are amazing, both 1/24 and 1/43. Your follow up and service is amazing as well. The 1/24 wheels fit the Monogram/ Revell Goodyear racing tires (from their Cobra 427 kit) with a little bit of trimming on the inside. Now if you can only make a set of racing tires 1/43 version, it would be great. I'm looking forward to purchasing the Ferrari wheels when available. Thanks, Bobby G -
Wish round 2 would release some obscure stuff

Definitely for the 58 DeSoto, hardtop or convertible...or both! -
George, do you have a website with your offerings?
-
Fireball's carbs are the best. Thanks

That DeSoto is beautiful my mouth is dropping Bill. You have truly mastered 3D printing. But when are you going to market your work? -

Jack if you make the Borani wires I'm in. I just ordered two sets of the Cobra wheels and looking forward to them. Thanks. -
Take another look at the picture above of an actual hemi with the Holley carbs that are the original used for the era.
-
Different Holley carbs perhaps.
-
Dino, what did you use for the linkage and fuel line fittings? I had to look at your picture a few times to see if it's a 1:1. Great work!
-
Sorry, it was supposed to be holy cr-p but the administration didn't like that word.
-
Holy BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH!!! Beautifully done!

Started work on my Hemi engine that will go in my 64 Plymouth Belvedere sedan. The block is from the Revell Charger with Missing Link's cross ram manifold, Fireball Carbs, MCG p/e pieces, throttle springs and scratch built pieces. The valve covers are Johan M/T painted with Valspar metallic chrome paint and a coat of dull coat. The distributor cap is from Replicas & Miniatures and the base is scratch built. Next is the plug wires and looms then finishing it up with pulleys, belt and the rest of the details.
-
The 413 Max Wedge is just about done, needing the starter and TorqueFlite trans. Next up is the Hemi race engine with cross ram and carb details. The Johan valve covers were stripped and painted with Valspar Brilliant Silver spray can, just the right shade. The carb stacks have Detail Master p/e round speaker grilles and thin foam. Fireball's Holley 3116 carbs. Cross ram manifold is from Missing Links.
-
Been making some progress on my 62 Plymouth wagon. The 413 Max Wedge engine is from a bunch of parts from different kits but the valve covers and manifold are resin. The manifold is one I made as a master that Missing Link casted. Those carbs are from Fireball, Joseph is the best for added detail and are highly recommended. The firewall and fender panels are from the Lindberg Dodge kit but modified for accuracy, they are resin as well. Interior door panels and base is a very close fit. Dashboard will have a separate gauge panel and center speaker grille. Hope you like the progress.

No talk about the Round2 1971 Dodge Demon ?
BobbyG replied to gtx6970's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Those ERTL era kits were a great period for the hobby and some of the best subjects and designs. Too bad the tooling isn't modular as you stated, it would be more econical to produce multiple versions and related subjects. Revell got it right. But keep in mind, Round 2 has both the 68 RR and 69 GTX kits with the same base tooling, the exceptions are body and interior panels. That is the point of my opinion. As for the Demon, kit bashing is the only way to go a step further for accuracy and detail, which I have no problem with, you just have to buy another kit to do so. The expense of the kits today will prohibit buying an additional kit...that's all. -

I have used the Duster kit on my 69 Cuda with little bit of triming on the chassis and easy fit on the engine compartment. So I am certain the Demon will be an easy mod. My point though is why Round 2 can't use the Duster chassis, engine and compartment tooling for the Demon. -

Of course the 71 Duster is an easy kitbash but that means buying another kit and trashing the body, etc. I guess that is what Round 2 is counting on, buying more kits in order to correct their inaccuracies.
