  1. Im referring to the original 70’s dodge demon. Thanks for all the responses especially the one re: bandit resins. I’ll check to see if the resin version exists.
  2. Hi. I was wondering what model I could Use to do a dodge demon clone. It’s almost impossible to find a demon model these days, wish they would do a release. Someone recently was selling a resin front grill, I’m not sure how I would handle the rear lights etc. thanks. John
  3. Hi, Just this morning i lost one of the headlights for a 1:32 scale 76 Pontiac Ventura i'm finishing up. I looked high and low for this thing and have just about given up. this particular model is hard to come by, so its not like i can buy another for just this part. I was wondering what you guys do when you lose a part. Its a small part, but its chromed so that makes it all the more tougher. Any ideas? Thanks John
  4. HI, I'm finishing up a Lindberg 1/32 Pontiac Ventura. The head light lenses are chrome plated. Is there something, tip, trick I could do to make the lenses look more like glass. Ill get some pics up when I'm done. Thanks John
  5. Kris, thanks for the recommendation. what size head is best for scripts? from what i can see on amazon there is a 1mm, 2 mm and 4 mm size. I might pick one up.
  6. hi, im going to try my first attempt at doing metal foil scripts vs painting the scripts, which never looks quite right. I would be interested in hearing how you do it. I'll be doing it on a 1/32 lindberg scale Pontiac Ventura. Any suggestions appreciated. I'll be airbrushing with enamel and i don't usually primer (donn Yost method). thanks John
  7. I use 91% rubbing alcohol. works for me and doesn't damage plastic. you'll have to fight it a little. i submerse the whole model, use a tooth brush, toothpicks, both wood and plastic, old credit cards for scraping etc etc. and slowly chip away at it. you're not going to get it all off in one shot. when it starts not coming off easy, re submerse it and come back to it later. Don't skimp on the strength. 50 and 70 % alcohol wont work.
  8. Holding the phone horizontally will worked!! Thank you all very much for the great help!
  9. My latest build. I have a thing for the old Pyro Kits. I kept the paint the same as the box artwork. Thanks for looking and thanks to everyone with their help on answering my build questions.
  10. Can I upload pics from my phone? I keep getting upload failed messages when I “click to choose files” then upload my pic. Any ideas?
  11. Hi. I’m doing a 1/32 mosel and was wondering what the best way was to highlight the lerlttwring on the side panels etc. it’s way to small for foil, so getting some silver or white paint on might look decent. The paint came out great some I don’t want to make a mess.
  12. I Would love to see a 70 or 71 Plymouth Fury I II or III or better yet how about a 70 or 71 Fury Sport!! In my opinion, the 70 Fury Sport is a beautiful car!
  13. hi, the 1911 Pyro Stevens-Duryea touring car model that i purchased off ebay came with the wrong headlight lenses. What liquid can i use that will harden clear when poured into the headlight. i tried using Testors window maker liquid and it set really nice with a nice convex lens shape, but its too much when the head lamp is filled and it doesn't harden clear but instead stays white. right now i'm trying canopy glue, but it has some time left to harden so I wont know for awhile. Was wondering what some of the pro modelers here on the forum do. thanks John
  14. Hi, im getting a bit tired of lugging the air brush outside. was wondering what some of the modelers here are using for spray booths. I would like to get something reasonably priced that can vent out a window, such as a bathroom window and wont get paint everywhere. Does anything like that exist?? I don't have a work bench area that i sit at all the time, but instead do most of my building at the kitchen table. When i paint i usually go outside, except when brushing. Sincerely John
  15. Ok so a question about using regular masking tape and cutting that with a razor knife for a clean edge. When you lay the tape down on the glass, how do you get a nice straight edge? A ruler? Also By sticking the masking tape on the glass doesn’t the tape lose some of its adhesion quality? Thanks again for all the great info.
  16. awesome!! Thank you. The local hobby lobby has it so I will pick it up. Just wanted to be sure. Will pick up the Tamiya tape. Sincerely, John
  17. Hi, I'll be doing my first masking job and was wondering if it is necessary to use a tape specifically for model use or would something off the shelf work just as good, such as painters tape, scotch tape, electrical tape, etc etc. Thanks John
  18. Hi, did any manufacturer ever do a '71 Plymouth Fury? I realize this isn't the golden era of US auto manufacturing, but there seems to be a void for kits in the 70 - 76 from the big 3.
  19. Now thats my kind of model. Done stock! Beautiful!
  20. I recently picked up a paasche H air brush. It comes with 3 different spray sizes, i'll call them fine, medium, heavy. I was wondering what size i should use to spray car body's. would love to hear from others who use this brush and how you use the various spray heads. thanks john
  21. hey snake - thanks for the info. when you say thinner, would that be lacquer thinner you're spraying or regular paint thinner?? also check out my new question re: paint thinner ratios and odorless paint in this section. would love to hear your opinion. Thanks john
  22. Hi, in the past I've used Lacquer thinner with enamel paint to spray through the airbrush, the Donn Yost method, two parts paint to one part lacquer thinner. On my next model I would like to try spraying regular paint thinner with enamels. Would the ratio be the same as the lacquer thinner to paint ratio?? also has anyone tried using odorless paint thinner?? Thanks, John
  23. I can vouch for LoneWolfs ratios. Recently after a bit of a hiatus from model building i got my ratios wrong and added 2.5 parts lacquer thinner to 1 part paint. Well wouldn't you know it, after what looked like a smooth beautiful spray, in about 10 minutes looked like I had a powder coating on my newly painted wheel skirts for my 49 merc build. i removed the paint and resprayed (luckily these are small parts and not a body). With the proper 2 part to 1 part paint to thinner and approx. 32 PSI It came out beautiful!! so nice in fact i wont' have to sand! It goes to show model mag forum is a great resource when you forget something!! Thanks Donn!!
