Bad ass!!

Thanks for the tip. I’m not quite sure what you mean by windshield pillar? Where exactly is it? I really don’t care for the way the paint came out on this Fairlane. It was an old body and one of my first builds. I had sanded the Fairlane scripts off on one side as I didn’t know how to do scripts back then and in addition I recently repainted over an already bad orange peeled paint job, something I’ll never do again as the imperfections come right through the new paint layers. It’s funny, when I look at the model in real-time it doesn’t look too bad, but when I look at the posted pics it looks bad. AMT just reissued a new 66 Fairlane and while I really hate buying a whole new model just for the body, the way this one came out is bothering me. Sorry for the ignorance, but let me know the area you are referring too so I can do it right when I do the new body. Thanks!! John

66 Ford Fairlane GT. A little bit too much orange peel for my liking, but I’m getting over my OCD! I am having fun doing scripts and foiling.

I like it! nice Job!

Thanks Dan! I appreciate it. That was one of the first models i built. Its good to post your good and bad i feel. I was trying to go for the Verdoro Green look. wound up using a wal-mart spray paint for tractors or such. I polished the heck out of it to get the orange peel out. Now all i use is testors or Model Masters out of an airbrush. Its worth the extra trouble.

Beautiful job!!

I finished this one about 6 months ago. Wish I was starting it now. Thanks to this forum I’ve learned a lot since then. I would approach it a lot different.

Beautiful build! That thing looks like a 1:1

So if they have it, they’ll build it if you request it?

I’m not sure. I hope the tools still exist. They were nice models. I have a few other brass series kits on the burner. Speaking of tools what happened to johans tools? A few of their designs would be greatly welcomed. Amt, mpc, mobius, revell etc etc should step out of the box. It’s the same ole same ole it seems.

1/32 scale. This was part of the Brass Series. Pyro is no longer with us and the brass plated parts in this kit leave a lot to be desired. More like brass colored plastic. Must have been produced near the company’s end. Still a fun build.

Nice job. I’m in the middle of that same build right now. -
Hard to find them. A re release would be nice.

Haha. You guys are right. The bumper is on backwards. Going to need my magnifiers for everything I guess. Thanks for a great forum!

1/32 Lindberg 76 Pontiac Ventura. It’s a snap-fit so I got to concentrate on paint and foiling. A nice change of pace. This was my fathers/family car back in the 70’s. Actually that one was a 71 or 72 and by 76/77 it was a real beater. Good memories though. Hope you like the pics. I finished this one up about a week ago. On a 1/32 the foil was a bit of a PITA.

i lucked on on the hobby lobby clearance about a week ago. I happened to go in for canvas paint and lo and behold a woman had just gotten finished putting up the clearance signs for the models. I bought almost every clearance model kit they had, about 30, doubles and all. Planes, cars, ships even a few display boxes, the whole works. Most of the kits are not my cup of tea, but i figured for 2.99 - 7.49 what the heck. I was told they would have all been gone in a day or two. I timed it perfect. That was a good day.

I love model building, but lately I’m not having fun doing the detail work on engines, undercarriages, interiors etc etc. I find myself going to my 1/32 kits as they typically don’t have engines or complex undercarriage parts and I can really concentate on paint, foiling and making the car look great. The details on the outside. I have to be honest, I barely look under the hood or study the interior after a build. Most of my satisfaction comes at looking at the build from a far.
