  1. My wife said they do come in clear as well.
  2. Update on the Volksrod- Haven't had much time to work on this but its coming together a little at a time. This build has also snowballed way beyond what I originally planned to do. The interior has been updated with racing style seats, a new shifter and fire extinguisher from the parts box as well as a scratch built roll bar. The foot controls were sanded smooth and drilled to look like after-market parts. I removed the rear seat and added a battery and box with cables to the rear floor board and a nitrous set-up with lines will be joining it soon. The stock 40hp engine was not gonna turn those rear wheels good enough so I am building it up with dual four-barrel carbs, nitrous, remote oil filter and MSD ignition. All of this will be plumbed/wired. Lot of scratch building involved in that and I can't really finish my bodywork until it's done so I know if I need to remove more of the rear sheet metal to make room for the carbs. So here's where we stand
  3. I recently needed to dig up or create a set of lenses for some headlights on a build I was doing. My wife was working on a scrapbook for a friend that just came back from Hawaii and had these "rain drop" stickers she was using. Even though they are tinted, the smaller ones were perfect for the lights I was working on. All I needed was a drop of clear glue to hold it in place.
  4. This also allows you to re-scale graphics for different applications such as using bomber art for hot rods etc. Btw-I use Micro Mark decal sheets in clear or white and they also require a clear coat.
  5. All I can say is WOW!!!!!
  6. Don't know if anyone else is interested in this bit but I have gotten into the habit of scanning all my decal sheets into my computer for future use. This way if I mess one up or just need another set of flames etc for a future project I can just print a set using my favorite water slide decal sheets. Started doing this when I needed to re-create some OLD decals that had deteriorated and I couildn't use them.
  7. I am interested in getting in touch with other modelers in the Fresno/Clovis area. I know there was or is an IPMS group here somewhere. I mostly do car and truck modeling but have been know to dabble with military aircraft and sci-fi
  8. Here's a few pics of the finished gasser. I just kept it simple, didn't even wire the engine. I did whip up a custom firewall from a scrap I found sealing a tin of cashews. The kit wall was pretty much non-existing and booooring. And you gotta love personalized plates thanks to Acme plate maker. Almost all my models have em. Luv it! Okay, that's done. NEXT! Gotta keep the momentum going.
  9. Here's one from the parts box I've been wanting to redo. I've mocked it up as a gasser. I was able to find most of the original parts to start with. I've actually gotten a lot done prior to posting this so heres some updated pics. Finished pics soon.
  10. Here's the first mockup of my volksrod. I removed the fenders and front and rear aprons. Slammed the rear suspension and reversed the front suspension. This is pretty much what I'm looking to create. Still a lot of details to work out and I need to create inner fender panels.
  11. Recently watched Spinout with Elvis Presley again. They use an old Duesenberg as a tow vehicle for a Shelby Cobra race car. Quite a sight.
  12. Spent some time building instead of web browsing and finally got this done. Here's some pics. Bodywork after paint. Finished chassis with wired engines. If you've never attempted this model beware. There is a ton of chrome! Every piece that makes up the frame, suspension, steering etc is chrome. Construction and paint were done per kit instructions and photos I have of the actual car. I added yellow thread to add plug wires. The finished model is quite good looking
  13. Funny I should run across this forum just a few days after putting the Roth Mysterion back in the box (again). Maybe it's a sign. I've had the kit since the 80s and have started and stopped it several times. Guess I'll get back on it while the recent work is still fresh. I've got a few other half-builts I could pull out as well. Tune in for more details.
  14. I have followed the Cannonball on another forum for over a year and never did get a chance to enter. Count me in this year.
  15. Count me in. Not sure what I'll be driving but sounds like fun
  16. I have a 55 Chevy that I'd like to enter for this CBP. I pulled it out of my boneyard and will be doing a gasser. This is going to be a quick and simple build to get me motivated again. Heres a pic of it pieced together for a general idea of what I'm shooting for. .
  17. Some really good work going on here. I've got several kits that would fit this CBP so count me in.
  18. Ive got a Polar Lights "Herbie" VW that I've been trying to figure out what to do with so I'm in. Maybe I'll do a volksrod? Now where did I leave my box of time? Lol Its okay to submit multiple builds I assume?
