Not sure what the specific problem is from your post. Do they just not fit onto the axle or are the mounting points warped. Can you give us a little more detail or a few pics?

To those that can and do build a "real" scale replica of the 1:1 vehicle I salute you. Personally I build to different levels depending on my mood. Sometimes straight out of the box but usually I'll try to add a visual representation of mechanical correctness but also I feel that if you can't see it why detail it? . I actually quit this hobby at one time because I was young and inexperienced and got mixed up with a group of builders that were into "correct scale color" on 1:25 scale autos with working turn signals and brake lights that come on when you push the brake pedal. To me that is serious overkill but it made them happy. It seriously discouraged me. We all have to find a level that makes us happy and don't discourage those with less skill or experience than ourselves. I feel that my skills have come a long way in the last few years thanks to my brothers here in the forum but I also thank God I don't have to compete against you guys because their is a lot of talent on this forum. Do what makes you happy and keep the faith.

Just like that mike! Nice build. Funny timing. I just received one I scored from eBay. Hot Rod magazine Revell 56 Custom Ford Pickup circa 1987 molded in blue with metal flake in it. Only a couple minor spots on the body that won't even be noticed. Count me in.

A new appreciation...

Thank god most kits are in much better shape than your nomad was. I've had a few like that and it's a real pain. All we can do is move forward Keep the faith -
This is lookin very nice. I gotta say that I'd have stayed with the silver. I'm gonna have to pick some of that up. Are you gonna leave the roof solid color or maybe a lace panel? To me it seems to be screaming for some graphics.

Too bad they can't mold a kit with the metallic in the plastic without getting any swirls in it. (At least ive never seen a good one) That would be a perfect specimen for this type of build.

God that gasser is bad a$$!!! I'd love to have the keys. Good work

Quick cheap resin casting?
jcbigpaw replied to jcbigpaw's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I can either track down another wheel or use something else if need be. I was just curious because this was in the back of my mind. I do wish I could copy a part once in a while but not often enough to make the investment. I may just take the dive and step up to duplicating my favorite engines etc. lol -

Looks mighty fine. Good detailing -
Interesting idea. I'll have to look and see what I have. I can't remember the last time I built a kit without painting the body. Might be an interesting challenge to still come up with a good finished body.

Bed looks awesome. Show me more! -
Farmboy that 55 is really nice! I got the idea a few years ago to do the 57 stretch when I saw one at a local car show. It belongs to a local limo company. I've found quite a few on the web too. I've managed to gather three kits that match but just haven't gotten the time (nerve) to tackle it yet. The work is progressing nicely on the Pontiac. Keep going ?

I am missing one wheel and tire for a pending project. I remember seeing an article many years ago that showed how to do an easy resin copy using (I think) black silicon and 5 minute epoxy or something like that. I just need to copy one part once in a great while so don't want to invest $50 in resin casting materials that are just gonna sit and go bad. Anyone have any ideas? I appreciate your help as always

I've been wanting to do something like this with a 57 belair. Mine will be made from three identical kits so i dont have to completely fabricate missing panels Progress looks good so far. I'll be watching. Good work

Lucky day is right. Never thought of the refuse angle. My brother drives one of those trucks. Gotta give him a call. Lol -
Nice, clean and simple. Paint looks great and I love the Cragars. Good work.

Just finished this one this weekend after working on it into the wee hours of the night. It should have been done a month ago but it stalled when my paint job went south and I had to put it aside for a while. I started with the Revel Motor City Muscle 1:24 kit and painted and assembled it straight from the box except for adding plug wires. I was looking for a simple build as a break from some longer projects and this kit went together very easily. Paint on the body and interior as well as primers were all Rustoleum rattle cans with Testors product used for all my brush work. I was a little concerned about the decal stripes going down smooth but with a little Decal Set they laid down nice, even over the hood scoop. The finished paint job isn't as nice as I would like but I can live with it. Hope you enjoy the pics and all feedback is welcome.
