Thanks for the kind words guys, I am looking forward to getting back into the build as soon as a I can. Cheers !

Hey Guys. First post in nearly a fortnight, I was hoping to be well and truly back into the build but serious car accident a couple of days after the last post has left me with a broken wrist. I am awaiting surgery, so all in all a serious stuff up, ps.....one hand typing is no fun either. I am not sure when I will recommence the build but I will let you know when, hopefully sooner rather than later, the right hand is fine but if the arm ends up in a cast things will be very difficult. Sorry for the stuff around guys, I really appreciate all your support and I hope that I can get back into the build once my wrist begins to heal. Cheers !

Thanks for compliment Jim. Now before anybody get too excited I should let you know that I won't be posting anything up for at least the next week. I am going away on Friday and I will need to start preparing for the weekend, to top that off, I have come down with something. I will be trying to get as much rest as I can over the next few days to try and re-charge. Sorry about the inconvenience but these things happen. Cheers !

Here is how they should eventually look minus the ugly speaker holes of course. Next task will be to get more measurements for the upper layer and begin making the recesses.
-
Here is how the two look together.
-
The new parcel shelf with the forrest diameter hole was cut.
-
Here is what I did. This will be the second layer of the parcel shelf. So for once I actually turned a mistake into a victory.
-
I had no idea that the actual hole was only 5.6 mm until I scaled down the full size measurement. With the hole to big for the parcel shelf I came up with an idea.
-
With measurements taken I was keen to get the centre hole drilled so I used the biggest drill bit I could find and made the hole about 7.8mm.
-
Hey Guys. I was getting ready to cut the holes for the parcel shelf when I realised I needed some more measurements. So down too garage I went. Here are the extra measurements.
-
And here I was thinking NSW had the most stringent engineering laws. Having said that, the holes should never have been cut and it is definitely something that I will be repairing a soon as a can find a suitable replacement panel.
-
I am off to simple start with the parcel shelf. I will begin drilling the holes tomorrow.
-
I made up a basic sketch of the parcel shelf and then got most of the measurements from the 1:1. Its a fairly complex structure with various recesses and holes. It will be done in two layers. One thing I should add is that the two oval holes either side of the centre hole are not factory based. They were cut out "correction butchered out" by the previous owners for speakers. Because I plan to restore the 1:1 I will need to repair this area. In the sketch I Have corrected this area.

Hey guys. I started work on the parcel shelf today. Here is a shot of the 1:1.
-
Hey Guys. Just a quick update, A work commitment kept me from getting anything done today. I did go down the garage and get some more shots. With the C pillars done I will need to focus on getting the rest of the body done. I plan to get some more measurements tomorrow around the parcel shelf and rear window and hopefully begin to piece the rest of this area together.
-
Then I used clear styrene for the flanges. It was lightly sanded on both sides glued in place and then undercoat was added from behind to keep this side clear.
-
Hey Guys. I added the flanges to the pillars to the C pillars today. First the under coat.
-
Here is how it now sits. Its much closer to the shape of the 1:1. Something I am considering adding is a flange . The 1:1 has a flange that allows the quarter window to be seated evenly. That should be an easy task. With that out of the way, I will continue to work around the rear window area, especially the cross beam and parcel shelf. I will need to get these two areas right before I can attach the roof.
-
Hey Guys. I spent the evening finishing off the C pillars. I went back to page 16 of the thread to find some images of the 1:1 c pillar. When I checked it I realised that i would need to enlarge the two upper holes, the triangular one and there small one next to it. I also bevelled the upper area so that it matched the contour of the roof.
-
With the holes drilled out I was able to make sure they lined up on both parts. The top hole on the left is a little out of shape but easily fixed. Both panels have been sanded down to fit easily inside the pillars. I will be making up the ends so that both panels are exactly the same same. One that is down I can attach them and then make the channels for the rear window. Those will be the next major tasks before I get around to attaching the roof.
-
Hey Guys. Photo bucket is back to normal so here they are.
-
Hey Guys. I finally finished off the C pillars today. Unfortunately I don't have any photo's to show you because photo bucket appears to be down. I don't know why but if its not fixed by tomorrow I will have to look at another photo hosting website to upload the photo's.
-
I have started piecing together the floor pan to better resemble the above image. But before I continue to do that I will attach the inner C pillars in preparation for attaching the roof.
-
While looking for images of the inside of a Torana Body I came across this sight. This basically documents the full body off restoration of an original GTR XU1. This shot in particular is very valuable. This is the underside of the floorpan that I can not access on my own because I do not own a rotisserie or hoist. These are the best images of a Torana Restoration I have ever seen. I have saved the site for future reference but just incase they remove it I may end up photographing some other important images or even printing them out. This image alone has just knocked weeks off the build time for the floor pan.

One very important thing i have overlooked is a contour gauge for the upper part of the body, so I put this one together.
