  1. I build for myself. If I an happy I am happy! I will put as much detail into a model as I can. Where my skill allows me, I will add as much detail as I can. SOme builds get floating alternators. some don't. some I add PS to, but I don't always add a bracket. valve stems? why? maybe for a all out compitition build, but for building just to enjoy the hobby? to each their own I guess. BMF. I have never tried it or used it. Maybe someday i will. Maybe I won't. again it come down to the modeler's own personal skill set and tastes. Now putting stuff on that is obviously wrong like the headers on that dragster, then ya it can be someones pet peeve. But if that is how the builder wants it, that is the builders decision. I am sure alot of us could nit-pick all kinds of details, which is fine. But we need to do so constuctively if we do.
  2. ME TOO! I checked current because that is usually the cheapest way to get one. But however it takes me to get a model I want to build. 1st issue, latested re-issue , gluebomb, or whatever!
  3. You have PM! Come on people post some built pics!
  4. After a couple failed atempts at making a rear bumper that I liked I found a bumper in my stash that works perfectly! It's the rear bumper from the AMT 77 Ford Courier pickup. all it tool was some sanding the rear mount on the fram a lil bit and added just a lil more styrene and BAM! perfect fit and look I was going for! pics later
  5. I sure can! still looking for a update!
  6. ya! any updates?!?!?! I see this truck all the time at my Dollar General stores. Scale ia a lil big But I think i am going to pick one up next time I am there. Looks to be a better workable platform to use than the 1/27th scale Maisto diecast I have. updates! need an update! lol!
  7. FINALLY scored a Ramcharger kit to build along side these 2 beasts!!!!! Can't wait to dive in on it like I am this stepside!
  8. Very nice info! It already has come in handy for me! I I just picked up one! That amazes me because I have been a MOPAR man since I was a kid. And my dad and especially my uncle were alwyas giving me models at my birthday and Christmas or whenever and they were always Mopar models. Somehow this particular kit never made it into my stash. I guess that is why I am so excited now to get one! Only thing about mine is that I need to find a motor and trans and the rest of the engine componets for it! But none the less i am happy to finally have one! Anyone that has built one, please post some pics!
  9. I finally scored my 1st Dodge Ramcharger kit!!! I can't wait to get it and start working on it!
  10. Very Nice work! I can smell the rubber!
  11. AWESOME!
  12. very very nice!
  13. Thanks for all the info and the outstanding write up Art!
  14. I would buy a dozen of these trucks if they were re-released! Having had a actual 79 in the family since 1983 and still is and always will be, these hold a very special place in my heart. I have had one of these kits in some form on my modeling bench for 30 years! I would love to have more of them to build!
  15. Cool! I am glad I could help you out! They are not the best wheel/tire combo, but from a cheap Dollar General toy they are pretty good! I have never been a big offroad fan myself but I have been gravitating towards them lately. In the scale world and in the real world! I would really like to see your builds! Especially your NP205 t-case!
  16. Speaking from experience you have to pay to play (build) one of these Dodge trucks!
  17. Here is a very bad pic of my Optima battery! I am going to have to take some better pics of this! This is the kit along with a derelict Lil Red Express that have donated most of the parts for this build I bought it mainly for the cab, hood and grille so I can make a model of my father's 1:1 79 D-150 2wd long box truck. the cab I am using in this build is from an older MPC moster truck kit. a few shots of the motor/trans and the t-case I added the trans mount and also added some ribbed sheet styrene to the trans pan to create a ribbed pan for the trans. This beast would need all the help keeping fluids cool in the real world! I am also going to add a trans cooler in front of the rad as well. still debating weither or not to try to add the tranny lines! THe oil pan is from a AMT 67 Chevelle. It's all I really had that somewhat fit the motor and looked close a truck oil pan. It has been section in numerous places to fit. I still have some work to do to it. but it works for now for mock up. and a pic of what the front bumper might be. It's the front bumper from a Maisto Hummer diecast. I cut the ends off and added some styrene to it to widen it to fit the Dodge. The bull bar is from a Maisto Ram diecast. It will be getting to round off road lights yet. And Ithe winch came from a Jeep CJ-7 kit from modelermike! thanks again Mike!
  18. I got a lil bit more done last night. not much but I scratchbuilt my 1st Optima dry cell battery. I could have done a lil better but I am happy with it. For now! lol! I still have to add the terminals and wiring and scratchbuild a battery hold down for it. I have been kinda lazy on this since I redid the frame. I almost didn't work on it last night but once I started playing the plastic addict in me came out! lol!
  19. That was my 1st thought as well. and this was part of my thought as well!!! second thought was a police vehicle third was were did you get it? lol!
  20. a pic of a mock up I did a couple months ago. Looked good but didn't have the feel for it that I wanted. to over the top. Got home last nigh after work with the house all to myself and jumped right in an fixing the rear of the frame. opened up my styrene stash and found I was out of my styrene rod needed to fix it! Bam! ran right out to Hobby Town! Bought the .100 x .125 strips needed to get it done! out came the knife , sanding sticks and superglue! how it was after! Now the bed sits were it should and I can get back to making the rockrails! I think it made a dramatic change to the overall build. Seems a better quality build to me now. I am happier! I guess that is all that really matters! Here's a pic of the fuel tank I scratchbuilt to look like the one that was molded on the frame. Looks to small to me. If this was areal truck I was building I would have the biggest fuel tank I could put on it. Leaning towards making another tank and locating it at the back of the frame .
  21. Some gas stations and convenent stores have weird stuff like that. We had a truck stop that used to carry all sorts of diecasts and even a model or 2 once in a while. I just stopped there a couple days ago to look arounf .everything was gone.
  22. She looks liike a cruiser! I kinda like the flat black look!
