POWER WAGONS
wraith replied to wraith's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
finally a pic! crummy cell pic but a pic! Scale 8" lift on scale 37's! I cut out the scoop from the old MPC monster truck kit and filled it in along with the openings for the zoomies. added hood scoops from the 71 duster. Since this crummy cell phone pic I have redone the front suspension, scratching up some more realistic arched leaf springs. The front bumper is from a diecast Humer I have modified slightly to my liking. she will have a fuel injected 440 backed up by a 727. T-case will be married and came from a SoReal chevy diecast I bought solely for the wheels and t-case. lol! More done to her to get her to look like this than what you can see from the pic! Hopefully more soon! -
Looking good MIke ! Love the detail on the dash!

What's the story behind your user name/avatar?

WRAITH Should be pretty self explanitory fo anyone who like car movies! But for those unfamiliar with it from the cult classic "The Wraith" starring Charlie Sheen and one of the most impactful car of my youth Chrysler's "Turbo Interceptor" Avatar is a tricked out SRT-4! One of my dream MOPARS! I love FAST MOPARS! New and old! Plus I have been modding Neons and SRT-4's for years! -
Sweet! But now what does the driver say? "Pardon me, do you have any Grey Pupon?' doesn't fit this Rolls now! lol!

I have to agree. When I look at others work, if I like it I was let you know. If I don't, I usually don't say anything, unless there is a particular thing that was done rather well. I, personally welcome ALL comment on my builds. I am my own worst critic at times and I like to hera what everyone thinks. Waht i might think is bad on one of my builds, someone else might think it is good and have that encouraging statement to keep me going on it and try even harder. This forum and others like it have been so helpful to me. I have seen alot of good and bad that has helped me grow as a modeler. My skills have grown a lot since I joined model forums. I view this forum like a coach. A coach has to carefully tell and point out to his "player" when they have not preformed well in order to help improve them.

Not bad! I like it! The only realproblem I see is the the lighter shade of blue on the roof should come down the cab farther to meet the edge of the door were the windowgoes in the door. No matter what I LOVE these trucks and seeing models of them! -

maybe a nv4500! right now it has a 727 behind the 440. And I am still leaning towards a EFI on it! thanks for the idea Chris! Scratch building a nv4500 might happen and go in the one i acutally have a pic posted of though! -

Still no posted pics! But when I get a chance there will be pics! I recieved my winch in the mail yesterday from mikemodeler! So soon I can restart fabbing up my front bumper! the more i put into this the more I think about switching to a different powerplant. As of right now it is going to have a 440 in it with a scratch built fuel injection setup. But I keep thinking this thing need a new 5.7 HEMI in it. opinions? I am still as of right now leaning toward the fuel injected 440. I already have the frame and engine bay modded for it and I am not sure i want to redo anything to drop the hemi in it. I am also contemplating on cuting out the bucket seats from the interior tub and fitting some racing seats with 5 point harnesses. If this thing was real, it would need those to tackle the Rubicon trail! Trying to build this as I would a real truck. -
Sounds cool! Can't wait to see some pics

One of the nicer builds I have seen of this kit! -
Looking good Mike! I have had some luck, although just a little bit, with spraying the inside of truck beds with a very light coat of actual bead liner spray. it's kind of a trick to get it right but when done it looks like the real deal. You can then even spray over it to an extent, with the body color to have that uniform color if you don't want a black bed. I have even appiled this trick to chassis' and had some luck. wish I could post some pics of it. It's a delicate art, so to speak. took me multiple tries on scrap to get it right before i did it to a model but it was the result I was looking for. Got rid of the wood grain look on the bed floor but still had the ribbed looked that truck bed floors have. just thought I would share this tip with you. You have shared many with me!

Paint Strippers - What to Use?
wraith replied to pbj59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It was probably Testoes glue. I have had the same effect with Castrol Super Clean and Purple power. although the castrol seems to brake down glue better. I still need to pick some of this stuff up and give it a try. -
WOW!!!!! Kane is my middle name and spelled exactly the same!!!!! How many times will that happen? I post and then my middle name is the next post! just struck me as weird! When I first read your reply Mike, I thought you called me by my first and middle name! I was like How does Mike know that! lol! Looking forward to seeing this wearing some green soon!
