The only person who can answer that question is YOU! What does it matter what someone else's opinion may be? Someone else might have no interest in that particular car and wouldn't pay $5 for it, while another person might have been wanting one for years and would gladly pay whatever the asking price was. Both opinions are equally valid, and both are totally irrelevant to you. They're not going to pay for the model, YOU are! So only you can decide whether or not it's worth it to spend your money for the kit... or for anything else, for that matter.

ok, excuse my ignorance, as I don't know squat about cars like this... but what exactly is the point of the screens in back that point up???

AMEN!!!! What passes for NASCAR today is nothing like what NASCAR really is (or WAS...) Used to be, Fords and Chevies and Dodges and Plymouths and Mercuries and even Hudsons mixed it up. Back then it was real competition between the different cars and brands. You could A: Tell a Ford from a Chevy from a Dodge, and B: There was actual competition between cars with different engines... so you could actually root for your favorite! And the manufacturers could take pride in a win, because it was really their cars and engines that won the race. Now we have identical cars, all the same, and no difference whatsoever between a "Ford" or a "Chevy", etc. The only thing that's different between a "Ford" and a "Chevy" is the fake headlights and grille sticker! Today's "NASCAR"? A colossal waste of time. They have definitely lost what made them uniquely American and interesting. The bigger NASCAR got, the less it looked like what NASCAR started out as. Every NASCAR race these days is nothing more than a 3 hour commercial for all the companies whose logos are plastered on every square inch of every car, and almost every square inch of every driver. Everything that made NASCAR fun, interesting and competitive is gone, and what's left is a giant corporate money-making machine, where the cars are no longer the stars of the race, but just props to show off the company logos for 3 hours. However... don't take my dislike of NASCAR as a slam against those of you who like to build models of today's COT. My comments are strictly related to "real-life" NASCAR, not to the models or the people who like to build them.

Forget it, Lyle... you're fighting an unwinnable battle... and I don't think you have the "patients" to keep it up... -
heads up for the new BMF
Harry P. replied to LVZ2881's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Every time this topic comes up, I've said the same thing: If BMF has a "shelf life", and it doesn't stick after a certain time, then the company should put an expiration date on the package!!! There's no way the consumer can possibly know how long the stuff has been hanging on the rack at the LHS... for all you know, it could have been there for years! Putting a "use by" date on the package wouldn't cost the company a thing, and would go a long way towards addressing the problem of old BMF that doesn't stick anymore. Why in the world haven't they done this??? -
heads up for the new BMF
Harry P. replied to LVZ2881's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yup, that was the same story I got from them. They basically told me that if the foil isn't sticking, it's my fault somehow. Which, of course, is total BS, because I've used BMF for many years and never had a problem with it sticking until a few years ago, when the product seemed to change. All the sheets were wrinkled and cracked, and the foil wouldn't stick at all. If they really are coming out with a better product, all I can say is It's about time!!! -

1974 Dodge Charger pro touring
Harry P. replied to Marc @ MPC Motorsports's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That is really, REALLY cool! I love the color... it works great on that car... and the black wheels against the gold is fantastic! If there was a "thumbs up" icon here I'd give you two of them! -
Just make sure you glue them in correctly, or you'll have to go Bach and redo them...

Rat own, rat own!!! Just a blatant attempt by me and Dave to sell more magazines!!! But seriously... the article will be killer. You will NOT be disappointed, folks. It'll be worth the wait...

Kind of an I'm bored question
Harry P. replied to Aaronw's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Since the cars you mentioned were the hot setups available then, I'd say they were the "muscle cars" of their day. Not what we traditionally think of as muscle cars, but in those days, they were about as close as you got... I owned a 1984 Daytona Turbo Z... Garnet red over silver, turbo, five speed, ground effects, etc. Back in the 80s it was a pretty cool car, compared to what else was available. And fast! (that is, until the turbo gave out)... And yeah, it had a back seat. But don't try actually sitting back there unless you're about 3 feet tall! -
No need to do a new post for each picture... you can put multiple photos all in one post.
