Future Floor Finish
Harry P. replied to Helipilot16's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If you go looking for it in the store, you won't find "Future" anymore. They changed the name to "Pledge with Future Shine". Yeah, that's a better name! -
I wouldn't want to be you if you had to go out on a cold rainy day in February... Gimme the cage!!!

Separated at birth???

My engine runs at 2600 RPM in 5th at about 70mph. I wish I had another gear or two to drop the revs down to 1500. I probably get about 24-25 MPG highway, but I'd like a little more! And no, reverse doesn't count!

I think you should call this one "Groucho"... the "face" of it has a very familiar look...

You guys and your 5 speeds make me laugh! I have a Trek mountain bike with 21 speeds! (PS: My car is a 5-speed...sometimes I wish I had 6 or 7... like an "ultra overdrive" to cruise on the interstate at 1500 RPM... getting maybe 30 mpg!)

Ok... it's closed.

2006 Dodge Magnum SRT8 Review (Long!)
Harry P. replied to MrObsessive's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Is this the oldest revived thread on the forum??? Geez, they don't even make Magnums anymore... -
As soon as you finish this one, I have your next assignment...

Yes it would. Americans don't like manual transmissions. Americans like automatics, power everything, any gadget and gimmick they can have, like back up cameras and refrigerated glove boxes, and the bigger the better. Ford isn't going to bother tooling up and manufacturing a manual version of the SHO just to please the handful of people who would actually but it that way, because they'd never make a return on their investment. As stated above, manual transmission cars account for only a tiny fraction of cars sold in America. No sense offering something that the buyers don't want.

A big old fat Impala as a drag car? That's a pretty strange choice...

Why I'm on here.
Harry P. replied to Helipilot16's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
ok, guys.... I think we've had our say here. I'm going to lock this before someone winds up getting stoned! And I don't mean in the good way! We all have political/social/religious views, and it's for darn sure that we are not all going to agree. So instead of focusing on issues where we have disagreements, let's focus on the thing that brought us all together here... -
Why I'm on here.
Harry P. replied to Helipilot16's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
And you're telling us this why??? If you don't want anyone to post any political/social/religious views that oppose your own, there's a very simple and foolproof solution: Don't post any political, social or religious posts! We would never have known that you're a liberal and an atheist if you hadn't made the announcement yourself! -

If you lost a good friend because he/she didn't agree with your politics, then that person was never a "good friend" to begin with. -
Where's the Jefferson Airplane when you really need them? Look what's happenin' on the streets... Gotta revolution, got to revolution...

Hold on now... are you guys saying that the geniuses in Oregon want to tear out the dams altogether (and thereby also give up that source of clean, renewable energy) because the dams are in the fish's way??? Seriously? THAT'S the issue??? Gee, shouldn't the fact that a giant concrete dam across the river just might interfere with the little fishies freedom of movement have been discussed back when the dams were on the drawing board??? Even now, if the issue is the fish, it would be INCREDIBLY cheaper and easier to build fish ladders around the dam instead of removing it... wouldn't it??? They can't really be seriously considering tearing out the dam... can they?
-
ok, well, if the way you play the game is to try and track down the photo, that's cool... but like you say, don't tell the rest if and when you DO find it. It's no secret that I find the photos on the internet in the first place... so if I can find them, anyone can, if they look long enough. But if you find it, don't tell us!

Issue 137 complaint
Harry P. replied to 58 Impala's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah, like Gregg said! You don't need to be a professional photographer or have a big fancy camera. Almost ALL digital cameras today can shoot photos (at their best quality setting) that will work for print. I have an 8 megapixel Sony Cybershot that I bought a few years ago for $179... something along those lines is all you need, nothing fancier. I'm pretty sure most of you have a camera as good as, or even better, than that one. And since I bought that camera, prices have come down further... you get more megapixels for less money today than ever before! -
Compromise: Build a small fish "bypass" on each side of the dam.
-
Why do they want to remove the dams? Isn't hydroelectric power "clean"? And once the dam and generators are built, basically "free"? Why take that capability away???

Issue 137 complaint
Harry P. replied to 58 Impala's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If the originals are hi quality shots, then yeah, I could use them. But most people don't shoot at the highest quality setting when they're just going to post photos online... there's no need to. In that case I need higher quality shots. And like you said, I need "clean" shots... no workbench clutter or pet cats in the background, no shooting on top of the clothes dryer or on patterned bedsheets, etc. Most people who post photos online aren't really thinking about the quality of the photos... some are, of course, but your basic casual "hey look what I did" type photos don't cut it for print reproduction. I don't want to spend my time removing messy backgrounds from photos! -
Yeah, but the MPG increase would be negated by the extra water usage...

Real or model? Remember... it's not about finding the photo... it's about looking at the photo and trying to figure out if it's real... or model! If you know the answer for sure, don't give it away! The answer: REAL!
