  1. Of course, if you want to go a little out of the ordinary, you could always use an Allison engine... That way your car would really "fly"...
  2. You could also use a solid chunk of material, thick enough for what you want to carve out of it. No seams, no gluing, no waiting. You could use a chunk of basswood or a chunk of styrene. The basswood would be easier to carve and shape, but of course you'd have to seal it when your done shaping it, to fill in the grain. But that's easy enough to do.
  3. Don't know what you have planned, but that design begs for full fender skirts...
  4. Cadillac V12 or V16... or a Deusenberg engine. Or a Mercedes straight 8 from the old Gold Cup series MB300s...
  5. You need a lightbulb for each light ("Grain of Wheat" bulbs, they're in the model RR section of the LHS), a battery box, a small slide switch and some wire. All of these things can be found at the hobby shop (or Radio Shack). If there is room in the model for the battery box and switch (like in the trunk, for instance), you can have the model's lighting system contained within the model. But remember you'd need access to the battery box after the model is finished (to change the batteries when they die). Opening trunk lid, maybe. Another way is to run the wires from the lights to a remote battery box and switch (for example, hidden in a base that the model sits on). That way you don't need to fit the batteries and switch within the model.
  6. Praise the Lord and HALLELUJAH!!! I went out to the mailbox just now and guess what I found? It's about time!!! My address info is printed upside down, though. I wonder if that had anything to do with the slow delivery???
  7. New steering column????? How in the world does a steering column need replacement? Unless the car has been in a wreck...
  8. I love the interior "junk"! Where did you get the kleenex box and camera from???
  9. I'm STILL waiting for mine! And the USPS is going to raise postage rates AGAIN! What's wrong with this picture?
  10. Let's try this one. Real or model? The answer: MODEL!
  11. Say hello to Gavin Newsom for me...
  12. Postwar Chryslers, Dodges and Plymouths are highly under-represented in the model car world. It's great to see one!
  13. What an eerie coincidence that his Stratus is on the cover of the current issue of MCM...
  14. Did you ever think that maybe you're reading the wrong magazine?
  15. WHAT??? Sucked into the "donk thing"???!!! For the love of God, man... how did that happen???
  16. His website doesn't have any contact info... so I just PM'd him.
  17. There are hundreds of captions in the contest issue... double-checking each and every one for accuracy would be impossible, given the time constraints of putting out a magazine. Just an honest mistake. But thanks for the clarification.
  18. If I could use non-automotive subjects, that would sure make things easier for me! But I agree... that's not going to fly with the guys...
  19. Well, at least I fooled a few of you! It's a MODEL! A pretty good one at that. Next ROM coming MONDAY! ROM update: After doing almost 80 of these, it's getting harder and harder to find photos that will fool you guys (or that I haven't already used!). I'm thinking of retiring ROM and starting up a new quiz... but the question is, WHAT??? I'd like to do an Auto ID quiz, but Nick has a long-running "Name that Car" thread going, and I don't want to step on his toes... but I can't think of a better alternative. What do you guys think? Auto ID quiz? If I go with that, I'd work it like this: I post a photo of a car that I KNOW you guys won't be able to ID... ... you guys email me with your answer, and at the end I reveal the answer and who got it right! No more anonymous voting... I name names! I could even keep a running score and you guys could compete amongst yourselves to see who is the king of the Auto ID quiz. Maybe I could run ROM every other week, alternate it with Auto ID quiz...
  20. I remember seeing his models in SA years ago... sad news.
