  1. I heard that earlier this week, DC was literally paralyzed by a snowfall of 7/10 of an inch. Less than one inch of snow crippled the city. How in God's name are they going to handle a foot or more?
  2. A sunny day in the UK?
  3. You admit you haven't seen the movie! How can you possibly know it's a "political hatchet job?" Sounds to me like you're jumping to conclusions without anything to back up your opinion. And besides... it's a movie. Take it or leave it, believe it's accurate or not. In the end it's just a movie. And BTW... there have been a lot of movies made that tried their best to shoot down the other political side. A lot.
  4. Looking good so far. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished model.
  5. Shouldn't we have a kit of a Chrysler Airflow by now?
  6. Probably hundreds when you consider all the defunct US manufacturers from the teens-twenties-thirties. I don't think we're going to see a kit of a Moon or a Kissel or a Jordan Playboy any time soon...
  7. Ok, here's one: people who slow down two blocks before their right turn, then slow to a crawl before turning. Seriously... you don't have to slow down to two mph, your car isn't going to flip over if you make a right doing 15-20 or so...
  8. And that irked you today?
  9. Hillary has way more serious stuff to worry about than some movie.
  10. We need to stay away from the political rants, guys. Again, I haven't seen the movie (nor do I plan to... it's not what I would call "entertainment")... but going by what I have heard and read, including comments from people who were there and took part in the events of that night, the movie is an accurate account of what happened. And I also have heard that there is very little actual political preaching in the movie; it's more a "docu-drama" than anything overtly political. Apparently politicians aren't really mentioned much in the movie at all.
  11. Actually, from everything I have heard, the filmmakers went to a lot of trouble to interview the people who were there, and asked them to "vet" the script in order to make sure the movie has all the details right and is an accurate account of what happened and not "political propaganda." From a published interview... former Special Forces Officer Kris "Tonto" Paronto, one of the CIA contractors who fought that night, states in an interview with Politico, "There is no sensationalism in that: We were told to 'stand down'. Those words were used verbatim–100 percent. ... If the truth of it affects someone's political career? Well, I'm sorry. It happens." Seeing as how Kris Paronto was actually there, in the midst of the fight, I'd take his word over that of any "film critics" or government bureaucrats out there who have said the movie is inaccurate or nothing but propaganda.
  12. I have that Eagles tribute CD. "Common Thread: The Songs of the Eagles." It came out during the Eagle's 14-year breakup. I agree Travis Tritt's version of Take It Easy wasn't too bad. But that's because the Eagles themselves were the band who played in the video!
  13. I think you're probably right. The problem is, Glenn sang lead on so many of their huge hits... Take It Easy, Lyin' Eyes, New Kid in Town, Peaceful Easy Feeling, etc., etc. It would seem weird to hear those songs sung by someone else...
  14. So which do you prefer?
  15. The '60s-70s are the golden age of pop/rock music, IMO. Don't know if there will ever be another era like that. The bands/artists you listed, plus the Byrds... Beach Boys... Hollies... Kinks... Jefferson Airplane... Jimi Hendrix.. The Doors... CCR... I could go on forever.
  16. Yes it was. Choosing a "Valiant" as the "hero" car does seem to be more than just coincidence.
  17. Why not post the photos here directly instead of the links?
  18. Very nice. I also love the color. And I can see why you like that body style.. it's killer.
  19. Now that is cool!
  20. Man, they are dropping like flies! Just heard that Gary Loizzo, who sang lead on the '60s hit "Bend Me, Shape Me" by the band American Breed, has died of cancer at 70. Yeah, not as big a name as David Bowie or Glenn Frey, but that song was a huge hit. I remember it from my childhood... always loved that song. Holy krapp... we're going to run out of musicians soon if this trend keeps up!
  21. If I had to guess which of the Eagles would check out first, my money would have been on Joe Walsh, hands down. I never figured Glenn Frey would be the first to go. Not that I want to see Joe Walsh dead... just that he seemed to me to be the logical guess, based on his past (although he has been clean and sober for many years now, credit to him for getting straight and staying straight). Now I have to wonder if the guys will carry on without Glenn, or call it a career, Eagles-wise. Hard to say. I once saw an interview with Joe Walsh where he said the Eagles were his life and he didn't know where he would be without them.
  22. My favorite Eagles song... live from 1977. Their very first hit, from their very first album. Written by Glenn and Jackson Browne. Lead vocals by Glenn, and the usual guitar mastery of Joe Walsh... RIP, Glenn...
  23. The dining room table.
